Trouble TTC

TTC Checkin 8/28/18

I thought I'd get us on a new thread.

I tried to tidy up the paging/BFP list, but not sure if I've done all correctly.
I know usually GoldenKeys goes through and cleans up the list around the new year; some of the posters haven't been active in a while.
Also, not sure if we've missed adding people to the paging role call over the past few weeks. If so, please let us know!

@BWhitta - let us know if/when you consider yourself graduated. I thought you might want to hang around for a while, I know this must be a scary time. Keeping FX for you.

1.  How long have you been TTC?

2.  What is your diagnosis?

3.  What is your current Rx plan?

Re: TTC Checkin 8/28/18

  • @funkykey thanks for getting us started this week! How are you doing? I hope it's been a better week for you so far. I think you're starting stims soon?

    @Bababatty Ugh I'm sorry you had to psych yourself up for a FET only to have it cancelled for a fluke like that. For what it's worth, my DH is a pescatarian too and because of that I've had a largely vegetarian diet for almost 8 years now. I've never known it to prevent ovulation, so I think it's unlikely that it would have caused this to happen to you all of a sudden. Sorry you have to wait and hopefully your body will get itself together soon.

    @Worldtravler0522 I'm sorry you find yourself at a crossroads and for reasons beyond your control. I'm struggling to find the right words to say because I want to be encouraging and try to offer helpful solutions, but I get the sense that's not what you need right now. Your frustrations and concerns are completely valid and my hope is that over time you will either come to peace with this decision or that you and YH will have what you need to keep going. We're here for you either way <3

    @ChristenMA83 I can relate to the hopeless two week wait situation. I hope the weight loss didn't throw off your cycle too much, but congrats on almost reaching your goal. That's great news! GL with starting the supplements. It didn't look like your list was too long. I have about 6 different supplements from the Naturopath, so I've got a bunch of alerts set up on my phone that keep me pretty busy throughout the day lol.

    @wishing-and-hoping How's the stimming going? I'm so sorry you had to deal with that at the pharmacy and I hope this cycle is it for you!

    @Bwhitta Thinking of you <3

    AFM, still not much to report as we wait for September 11 to roll around. I've been doing the diet and supplements recommended by the Naturopath for about two weeks now and it's going pretty well even though I'm starting to get very sick of vegetables :s I am noticing my sleep has improved a bit and even though I still wake up during the night, it's easier to fall back asleep. I have a follow-up with her on Friday, so I'm looking forward to that.

    QOTW: How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet? Hmmm that's a good question! I would guess at least 10-12 years but it's possible I have a couple pairs older than that. I'm actually not a huge shoe person (I prefer to splurge on bags) and I'm pretty sure DH has more shoes than I do!

    WOOHOO!!! I know this time is Still very nerve wracking, but that is a fantastic start and I am so hopeful for you! YH sounds like mine in the optimism department. It’s definitely good to have someone to balance you out—even though sometimes I’m like, “Could you please just shut up and wallow with me?!”  :D Keep Up the good implantation work, Little embie!

    @mirabelle33 Thank you for talking me off a cliff vegetarian diet-wise! I always need SOMETHING to stress about. I could literally be in a textbook perfect cycle, and I’d be freaking out about how fast I walked to work or something else ridiculous. I’m excited to hear what your naturopath says on Friday.

    AFM My RE is concerned that I was TOO enthusiastic in the diet and exercise department so I’m focusing on maintaining and he only wants 2-3 days of moderate exercise. (@BWhitta sounds like he’s more in your RE’s camp of limited to no exercise.) I didn’t even lose that much weight, which is frustrating. Oh well. I did insist on a programmed cycle for next go around, so now we’re rushing about trying to get the meds in order to start Lupron next week. I HATE having to order meds online (it really stresses me out) when there’s a perfectly good specialty pharmacy 10 blocks away. Such are the dictates of my insurance, which I’m just lucky to have.

    QOTW 13 years old. They’re a pair of sandals I bought junior year of college. And now I feel really old.

  • QOTW: How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet? From October 23, 1999. Shoes hubby bought me to wear on wedding day. that matched skirt outfit i still have too that i changed to after wedding.

    @mirabelle33 - Sept 11 is so close now! Hoping the time passes fast. You have been waiting FOREVER!

    @BWhitta - how is it going? Thinking of you! Keeping FX that this is the one!! Great news re: your second beta!!

    @Bababatty - Have you started the lupron? Are you doing a transfer cycle?

    @estherjvb - welcome. When will you see a specialist? Are you just waiting on insurance? (Am I reading that right?)

    @drewsdarlin - how is it going? When are you set to start your cycle?

    QOTW: I think my Birkenstocks are like 10 years old now. I actually am going to need to have them re-soled soon. Finally! I've finally become an owner of Birkenstocks who needs to have them re-soled!

    AFM: Day 7 of stims is complete! We're hoping for retrieval sometime this weekend, or early next week. I had been feeling really zen about all of this, like: "If it works, great, if not, well, at least we tried." I was feeling peaceful and fatalistic. Then **TW** yesterday my sister told me that she is now pregnant with her second. **end TW**. Those of you who have been around for a while *cough cough @Bababatty * may remember that I started TTC her the same time she started TTC for her first, and when my niece was born, I was just starting IUI cycles.

    I'm so happy for her, but it took the wind out of my sails a bit. I often feel, in this, that life is kind of passing me by. That I'm kind of stuck in this purgatory of like: "will they, won't they?" I often wish someone could just tell me if this was going to work or not, and if not, then we could look at other options.

    Anyway, it was a real reminder of how long I've been at this, and at how hard and lonely this road has been. Big thanks to all of you for walking along this road with me, and providing this companionship.  <3<3

    ETA: looks like the auditing isn't going to be soo bad. Someone helps us with our taxes, so it shouldn't be such a struggle. More just a pain in the ass.

    We won't be doing IVF till October sometime after I get other things took care of and go on ladies trip with church. We have education day on 25th of this month.
  • @funkykey thank you and yes it does feel like FOREVER! Less than a week to go now ...

    I'm so sorry that news came from your sister when it did and that it messed up your zen mindset. I truly hate when that happens. I hope the yucky feeling will wear off after a couple of days and that you can get back to a more peaceful place. I know exactly what you mean about feeling like life is passing you by while you're stuck in purgatory. I've had to work hard at not dwelling on those feelings during this long period of waiting. Anyway, I know there is not much I can say to make it better, so I'm sending you a big hug <3 I hope your retrieval goes well. You're doing PGS testing, right?

    I'm glad you have help for the audit and that it won't be a huge burden at this time. I'm still annoyed for you though haha.

  • @funkykey I know exactly how you feel...my best friend got pregnant when we first started trying.  Every month I would think “okay, if I get pregnant this month, they’ll only be 6 months apart...” and then shortly after my last miscarriage she found out she was pregnant again (unplanned.) That was probably one of the hardest conversations I’ve ever had.  We were both crying.  Nothing about this is fair and it just doesn’t make sense.  But I stand by my belief that it WILL make sense one day, I just have to.  FX for your retrieval, how are your follies coming along?

    @mirabelle33 sooooooooo close!!!!!!!

    ***TW***

    AFM, we are 6 weeks today.  I am extremely fatigued for most of the day (been walking on the treadmill for half an hour to try to get some energy going) and nausea has really started to kick in the last few days.  I panic when it’s not there and wish for it...and then always end up regretting that, haha.  For some reason it tends to start in the afternoon and go all night.  Also peeing non stop and waking up at dawn without fail, which is annoying.  My ultrasound is Friday morning and I’m not super nervous about it yet, but I am sure I will be a wreck by tomorrow night.  I am really confident about my symptoms, but I will just never be convinced that this is really happening.  Every time I allow myself to get excited or hopeful, an equal or greater amount of fear quickly replaces it.  We did end up telling our families about the pregnancy, which I was relieved about but also in a way it made me more nervous.  But if we have another miscarriage I would tell them about that, so why not let them share in this time of joy, no matter how brief it could turn out to be?  I figured the positive energy from everyone could only help, and miracle of miracles, my mother in law hasn’t started annoying me yet  ;)

  • @funkykey, yes you read it right.  Seeing a specialist in January, at least if nothing better happens before then.  Waiting on insurance
  • <3 Welcome @estherjvb

    @funkykey First, I can’t believe you are already on stim day 8, but that’s so great! I really hope that your ER goes well; are you happy with the number of follies you’re seeing? FX for so much success! Will you be doing a FET next cycle?

    Second, I’m so sorry to hear that your zen has been shattered. Our peacefulness during this whole process is so fragile. I have a similar situation with a friend (although she has not announced a new BFP), but I can only imagine how much harder this would be when it’s your own sister. And of course it’s doubly hard because youre happy for her but oh so sad for yourself. I always feel like a complete jerk when I’m sulking over someone else’s pregnancy (not that you’re necessarily sulking—really I just mean those conflicting feelings of happiness and sadness). I do remember your sister’s first and I can’t believe we’re still here talking about a second. Time stands still and goes by so quickly at the same time. I know how you feel about life passing you by. I’ve tried to focus on “living in the moment,” but really I’m trying to get through days until my next shot or my next appointment, etc. This standing still thing—even when you’re making progress with ART—sucks. A lot. Enough rambling—so many hugs.  <3 (PS I’m mobile and pretty sure I inserted a heart in a random place above, accidentally.)

    @mirabelle33 NEXT WEEK!! Hooray!!!

    @BWhitta I felt such relief to read your message. I have a really good feeling, and I can’t wait to see what your RE says tomorrow! Good luck!!

    AFM My meds came yesterday and I start my Lupron tonight. Once AF arrives next week, we’ll start adding in estrogen, looking for a FET around the end of the month. I’d say you have no idea how happy I am to start shots again, but I’m sure you all know. How strange is that? To be looking forward to nightly shots because it means you’re doikg something.
  • @Bababatty thank you!!!!! I am officially a complete wreck about the ultrasound, haha.  Ugh. My sweet husband keeps saying things like “please stop worrying” and I’m like YOU REALIZE TELLING ME THAT LITERALLY DOES NOTHING, RIGHT?!  Poor guy, haha.  I’m so excited you’re starting injections!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @mirabelle33 Enjoy your follow up with the naturopath today. I'm interested to hear about it.  And Sept 11 is less than a week away.  Yay for that!!

    @Bwhitta I'm excited for you.  I hope today's ultrasound goes well.  I totally get taking comfort in the symptoms.

    @bababatty I'm with you on hating to order meds.  I'm always so sure they're going to screw up, and the pharmacy we use doesn't have an online portal so it's all over the phone.  So far, I haven't had any issues, but I so prefer to see some sort of order confirmation so I know they're getting it right.

    @estherjvb welcome to the group.

    @funkykey The timing sucks with your sister.  Sorry your zen was interrupted.  I'm waiting for this announcement from one of my friends, we're godparents to her almost 1-year-old, and I know they're wanting to add another one soon.  It's hard to balance the happy for them, sad for me feelings.

    AFM: We finally picked up the detox supplements this morning.  They packaged them all in AM/PM packs and cute little boxes and a tote.  It's nice I don't have to shuffle 7 or so pill bottles every day.  I took my first dose an hour ago and I'm not getting any of the possible stomach side effects or jitteryness so that's good.  I'm still doing well on my diet, but my weight loss has stalled a bit, which isn't surprising after a big initial loss.  AF came and went without incident, so I'm just over here warming the bench for another couple months and throwing back supplements.

  • @ChristenMA83 Thanks! The follow-up with the Naturopath went really well. She was impressed with all the changes I had made to my diet and happy that I was tolerating all the supplements. I was pleasantly surprised when she said that I looked less tired, my skin looked better and that I was smiling more. The only change she made was to add some Vitamin E. She also did a relaxation treatment, which was very interesting. I laid down on her massage table and she put some rock salt on my belly. She then took some kind of powder and lit it on fire with some incense. She removed it when it was too hot and she repeated this two more times. It was relaxing and I liked the warm feeling on my belly, but it was a little bit of a pain to get all the salt out of my belly button afterward lol. I forget what the treatment is called, but she wants to do it again while were doing IVF to help me relax. I think I'll check with my RE first, but if she says it's okay, then why not? I'm supposed to continue the supplements for two months and I think I'll continue with the diet indefinitely. I am feeling better on it and I'm curious to see what happens if I keep it up for awhile. All in all, I'm glad I went!

    I hope everything goes well with your supplements! I'm jealous of your cute packaging lol. Our dining table and kitchen counter are cluttered with various pill bottles and boxes with powder packets, etc. Fx the side effects stay away and that this will make a real difference when you do IVF again in a couple months.

  • @mirabelle33 what an odd relaxation technique.  I don't know how I would feel about fire on my belly, but if it helps then great.  LOL at the salt in your belly button though.

    @Bwhitta I am so hopeful for you that every thing continues to progress smoothly.

    AFM: As of this morning I have officially lost all my IVF weight.  Super excited to make some additional progress before stims pick back up in November.

  • Newcomer here! Hello everyone!

    1.  Been TTC since July 2017

    2. Progesterone and HSG exams have all looked normal for me. DH's morphology is 1%.

    3.  Current plan is to see a urologist on Friday. My OBGYN doesn't consider the 1% morphology a red flag yet so that's why he's referred us to a urologist. Hopefully we get some good news or a hopeful plan of action.

    This is for our first child so of course I'm feeling impatient. We're both ready to just move straight towards IUI or IVF if that's what will give us the best chance. I don't think I can be patient enough to go through trying to improve DH's numbers and quality over the next few months.
