PAIF September Check-In

Wanted to get this started for September.

How is everyone?  Do we want to stick with a certain set of questions? Or just  update eachother with whatever we've got going on/how we're feeling?

Re: PAIF September Check-In

  • Hi - thanks for starting :)

Has everyone been released for their RE?  Or when is that time?

I have another scan tomorrow afternoon to see the status of baby a.  Last cycle, I was convinced I didn’t ovulate within the usual Pregnyl timeframe- that I was 3-4 days later. I’ve been holding onto the 10% chance he gave us. Idk if that’s healthy or not.

Well, I’m done being a Debbie downer for now :D

  • @jrm_14 I was told today that they keep me until 13 weeks.
    Good luck tomorrow!!!

I had an appt today and we were able to see our little guy wiggling and moving his arms. I wasn’t expecting that, it was amazing!!
I was also able to pick whether I wanted to stop my PIO or suppositories so I went with the PIO!
I ordered everything off of Etsy to take our announcement pictures too :)
  • @50Wife How many weeks are you?  Yay for no more PIO!  What are you doing for announcement pictures??!
  • @jrm_14 8w6d based on my transfer date and they measured me at 9 weeks at my appt this morning, so on track!

I basically want to do this, but with my needles in a heart around it all. I bought a similar onesie and the image of the calendar I need to print

  • I like the general update plan, there aren't very many of us over here anyways and we all get the idea!

@jrm_14 If holding onto the small chance gives you hope, do it! GL today, I'm so nervous for you :) My RE will release me if the 8 week u/s looks good, then the OB will see me at 10 weeks (but I was IUI).

Thanks for starting this @50Wife. I really, really love that announcement onesie, and your idea about the needles. You can mention to folks that you conceived with IVF all day long, but they'd have no idea what it actually took to get there. Maybe your announcement will give them some inkling. I'm also so excited about *wiggling arms!!* and your stopping PIO!

No real updates for me, symptoms have slacked off or changed and that has me worried, but next u/s is next Thursday so I'm trying to remain positive (very hard for me) until then.

  • @sheepshepherdess I feel the same way - as much as I want to feel good...if I don't throw up one morning I'm like well why am I  not sick today??!  It just messes with you! I hope your appt Thursday goes well! That seems so far away, I hope you can keep busy!!
And what you said is exactly why I wanted to put the needles out there - I feel like people understand that IVF takes work, but I don't think most people understand what really goes into it. I probably have 7 sharps containers packed full of needles at this point! I definitely wanted to show what went into it. Shit, maybe I should throw a bunch of money and credit cards around the onesie too  :p
  • Thanks for starting the thread @50Wife!!

I was just stalking my old bump posts because I could not, for the life of me, remember how far along I was for our last loss. Why would I not remember that? Anyway, I was 7+4 and today I'm 7+5!!  <3

We have our last US with the RE next Tuesday and then released to my OB. I really wish I could stay with my RE for the whole pregnancy. I love them.

I posted this on PAIF but my nausea has been kicking my butt. Last night every time I got up to go the bathroom I drank a bunch of water, which seems counter-intuitive, but this morning I felt a little better!

Is everyone doing an announcement? If so when? I'm not sure if we'll do anything or maybe just include a little "+ Baby" in our Christmas cards. Who knows!

@50Wife - I love that idea, I've been searching for something special to do.

@jrm_14 please keep us updated after your appointment. I was released from my RE, but I do have an appointment with my OB tomorrow. I think between the two of them, they want to keep a close eye on me for awhile.

eta: forgot to add my stuff (oh hey pregnancy brain). I'm doing ok, I think I'm just going to be nervous for awhile. But feeling like crap somewhat helps me know that something is going on in my body. I have an appointment tomorrow with my OB so I'm excited to see the nugget again.

Here's my question (and backstory). DD1 had a heart condition that then required me to rent a home doppler to monitor her heart 3x a day. It gave me a lot of anxiety to do this but I did it because we needed to know how she was doing. Has anyone else considered getting a home doppler? I just don' know if it would bring me peace or anxiety. Thoughts?
  • @madasm0530 Hopefully the water helps! I need medicine in my system, if not I honestly feel like death. I cried to my husband because of how bad I felt last night before my new dose of meds kicked in. It sucks!! If you're not that bad, definitely try B6 and anything that's supposed to help like ginger candy (I bought tummy drops from Amazon that got great reviews) or ginger ale.
I'm definitely doing an announcement! I already told my husband that I basically want to do everything on Pinterest this time around. It'll be our last pregnancy and we went through enough to get here so I'm going to do it all! I'll probably put our announcement on FB around 12 or 13 weeks. Was debating on doing it when we graduated from our RE.
    Also, Yay to 7w5d!!!

@mrstmoose Good luck at your appt tomorrow!
Ugh I'm with you on the doppler - my sister has one that she's offered to let me use and I don't know if it would help or make me go crazy!
  • @madasm0530 I also wish I could stay with my RE, I already know all the staff and love the doctors, and they know me! Though I do have a midwife picked out who works at a standard OBGYN practice that's located in a hospital. And I second the drinking water when you get up in the night, that helps me with the nausea in the mornings so much. Congrats on being 7w5d!!

We haven't decided, but we are super private people and may not do an announcement at all. The family gossip train, as well as our small town, should get the news around pretty quickly. We'll start telling a couple folks at 12 weeks.

@50Wife Lol at the credit cards and money! I have told a couple folks what just a few tries of IUI cost and they were horrified as they know we don't have much. Telling them about IVF costs would probably make some people's heads explode. Of course, those same folks spend 80k+ on a car but can't imagine spending that, or a portion of that, to create a new life?

  • @50Wife I am also incredibly jealous you’re done with PIO. I was able to choose to eliminate the PIO or suppositories this weekend and had to get rid of suppositories because I’m OOP with those and they’re expensive! Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to almost be done with those too, but the injections are getting old!

  • @madasm0530 Which I probably should have done because I'm the same and I think it's about $225 for 60 suppositories whereas PIO is a $10 copay for 3 vials.
  • @50Wife kind of worth it!!

  • @jrm_14 I am so sorry for your loss. Take some time to grieve, sister.

  • @jrm_14 I'm so sorry. Please take care, you're in my thoughts.
  • We had our final US with the RE yesterday and everything looked perfect  <3. Babe is measuring one day ahead of schedule.

I posted this on the PAIF board, but I was really emotional leaving there. I have been with those doctors and nurses for 5+ years! They gave us a cute bunny and birth announcement to send to them when the baby is here.

How's everyone else doing? Any appointments coming up?

  • @madasm0530 5 years! No wonder you're attached to your RE team. Plus they sound wonderful.

Keep spinning myself into panic mode over nothing, but have my final u/s with my RE tomorrow AM. Will be 8w4d, so hopefully everything's on track.
    Me: 29 DW: 44
  • @madasm0530 Are you sending them anything as a thank you?  My RE posts pictures of like donuts, flowers, edible arrangements, etc... from patients saying thank you.  They do a "Thankful Thursday" on FB and post that stuff and thank you notes. I'm considering sending something...although flowers or cookies will never be a big enough thank you, but I feel like I should!

@sheepshepherdess Good luck tomorrow!! Do you have your OB appt set up?

I had my appt this week on Monday so my next appt is going to be Tuesday. I'll stay with my RE through 13 weeks
  • @50wife I hadn't even considered it but that's a great idea! :)

  • @50Wife I agree, that's a fantastic idea about sending the RE something. My last insemination, I went in for a routine follie scan and *surprise* I was already in the middle of ovulation. So they squeezed us in last minute on a Friday, and I brought the office pastries afterwards. If I truly graduate tomorrow, I might send them something else.

OB appt is set up for 10 weeks, with a midwife we interviewed over a year ago. Really excited to get that far!

I'm looking forward to your next appt!

  • All was well today, I was graduated and will move onto the OB unless there are complications in the meantime. At 8w4d and baby measured 9w w/HB at 184!

  • @sheepshepherdess Yay! Glad to hear everything looked great :)
