Re: Multiples Chat and Check In (9/4)

  • Hi Everyone!

How many weeks are you? I'm 28w5d today

How have appointments been? How frequently do you go? Any health concerns?
Appointment have been good. At my last appt I gained like 7 lbs in a week (I keep track of my weight at home) but my OB just saw it as 7lbs in a month and said I was fine. I was pretty swollen at that visit but my BP was good and my urine was good so I guess it's fine. I'm fluctuating up and down 3lbs in the morning depending on how swollen I am. I have an appt next week with my perinatologist so I'll bring it up to him as well.

What type of multiples are you having? Do you know the sexes? Names picked out?

Our twins are Di/Di and we are team green! We do have four names picked out but I'll probably change my mind once I see their little faces.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Concerns/What's going on, ladies?
Rant time...I feel 10 months pregnant. I'm a FTM so I really have nothing else to compare this to other than some friends who are currently pregnant (singleton) who are all much further along than me and they are fine. I'm exhausted, I feel like the kiddos are running out of space in my belly and I cannot sleep. I think I'm scared that this is only going to get worse until it's time to meet them.

Two Furbabies: Mika (american eskimo) and Gypsy (wire-haired terrier, dachshund mix)

Twins: Kaiden and Zara born 10/2018 conceived after 6 years of infertility via a medicated IUI

My appointments haven't been too bad lately. I've been going every other week to the MFM. I just got moved to every 3 weeks with my OB, but I also have a new OB (due to my current office closing Oct 1), so we'll see what cadence he wants. I also have occasional appointments with Peds Cardiology, but I will probably have one more of those then each baby will have an echo when they're born to determine who has the pulmonary stenosis and has to go to the NICU.

I'm having mo/di twins. Team Green! We have it narrowed down to about 3 names for each gender. DH has been pretty low key about his name opinions, but this weekend he told me there was a particular name that was flying below my radar that he kept thinking about. So...good to know he's thinking about it, too. Plus, I like the name and it's growing on me pretty quickly, too.

I am a little nervous about lefty having to go to the NICU.  I know there is nothing I can do about it and it will be the best place for him/her to be so that the medical staff can monitor sats and make sure the heart condition hasn't gotten worse. It just breaks my heart a little bit that the babes will likely be separated. Especially because they are always so snuggled up when we get scans done. Most of that is probably due to necessity, but it's also super cute (and makes it SO difficult for the tech to get a good shot of their faces).

On a pregnancy related note: I didn't realize it was possible to pee this much! Nor did I expect to have to buy bigger shoes (which I had to do this weekend). I have to say I feel pretty lucky that I'm still able to go to the gym and stay pretty active. I have had a little heartburn, but nothing major. Overall, I've had a pretty easy pregnancy. That being said, I feel like the next 8.5 weeks are going to get very uncomfortable quickly.

last appointment with mfm was concerning—baby b is measuring 12th percentile, and a is 30th. they are moving up appointments to keep an eye on b’s growth. just got back from my obgyn appointment and found out i passed my gtt and everything else about me they’re keeping tabs on is looking great. got in touch with a pediatric kidney specialist last week via the phone (because he’s 2.5 hours away) and he gave me the rundown of next steps for managing baby b’s kidney issue. also spoke to the family pediatrician to bring her up to speed about baby b’s kidney and start her file.

identical twin girls sharing placenta. still staying with the original names chosen (elise and emilia).

@smulrich16 i stopped fitting into my ballet flats too this past week! my feet are sometimes swollen, but even when they’re not too bad, the closed toe shoe situation is uncomfortable. i’ve been wearing my stretchy sanuk yoga slings instead. may need to buy new shoes when the weather starts getting too cold for those.

i am perpetually ready for bed. so tired lately. sleeping great at night, but that’s probably because i’m still taking b6+unisom before bed for morning sickness management  :#
  • @highsteaks I've been living in sandals (with the exception of my gym shoes when I work out)! That is the ONLY thing I'm dreading about the colder weather is the shoe situation. Although, if I'm super pregnant when it's colder and still wearing sandals I just DARE someone to say something. With how hot I've felt lately, I think open toes in the cold might be a welcome relief

what is the protocol for kick counts for you all? the nurse is the one who gave me directions, but her directions differ from the handout i received (and from experience).

the nurse said, (i assume for each baby), call the office if you count less than 4 in an hour. full stop. i asked her about trying to recount the next hour, but she said no call if you fail the first hour. the handout says to try again the next hour. i have a feeling the nurse is wrong; should have verified with the doc, but i forgot to ask when she came in. normally i’d err with my gut, but because these are multiples i’m not sure if the protocol is stricter... what say your docs?

eta- @EM0704 how are you doing?
