GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?

Re: Weekly Ticker Change: EDD Jan 1-7 (w/o 9/4)

  • EDD? 1/3

Symptoms? Hip/Tailbone Pain still persists. But I've got a prenatal massage appointment today at 5:30! Woohoo! We've already reached our deductible for the year, so I'm going to get as many in as insurance will allow. Another reason I'm crossing my fingers this baby comes closer to 39 weeks!

    Upcoming appointments? Not until 9/26

R/R/Q: Last night I wasn't hungry for dinner until 9:30. Then realized if I ate that late, I would have heartburn and be unable to sleep. So instead I took a bath and cried for 1/2 hour before going to bed. Raging hormones are so fun! Just eating breakfast now at 10:30am. Where was this apathy towards food when I could actually lose weight?!

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book? Love You Forever. I can't make it through that book without bursting into tears. It's just so sweet.

  • @alexandraseattle Love You Forever was the first book I ever read to DS. I love that book!

    EDD?
    12/28/18

    Symptoms?
Heartburn, tight calves especially in the morning, gagging when I brush my teeth

    Upcoming appointments?
In the process of switching OB’s due to insurance changes.

    R/R/Q:
Rant: I want fall to be here!

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?
Love You Forever is definitely one of my favorites. My other favorite would have to be Green Eggs and Ham.

  • EDD? Jan 7 22+3!

Symptoms? I have been super short of breath since Tuesday afternoon. I also feel really lightheaded (prob related?). BP was fine at OB appt Wed morning so I dunno. Getting stronger BH which are uncomfortable. All of a sudden constipated. Insomnia is still kicking my ass. Lower back/tailbone pain.

Upcoming appointments? Nothing until my OB appointment on Oct 5th! I'll have a ton of appointments in October though....

R/R/Q: The crying is getting embarrassing. @alexandraseattle  Don't worry, you are not the only one who is crying over food. Yesterday I went to the grocery store and started crying tears in the fruit aisle because I wanted the apples, oranges, and pears. I have been allergic to all 3 for the last 10 years and it really hasn't bothered me, but apparently I was super upset yesterday about not being able to eat them lol!

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book? I don't know that I have one from my childhood, but I really love a book called "Bear Stays Up For Christmas" that my aunt bought DD when she was little. We read it every year. Actually, all the books in that series are amazing (I think they're by Jane Chapman but don't quote me on that). I have collected them all over the years.

  • EDD?
    Jan 2nd

    Symptoms?
Spider veins? Those tiny little blue-green veins that explode everywhere. I'm getting a pile around my ankles, guessing from the extra weight.

    Upcoming appointments?
Just a regular checkup at the end of the month.

    R/R/Q:
Just the same, day-old rant. Irked at being sick, bored out of my face, hate that I can't take anything to relieve the symptoms. If you can't tell, I'm feeling super irritable, and thankfully something in me has the sense to not get all emotional about it, because trying to breathe already sucks.
On the upside, baby and I have had quite a bit of time to get better acquainted. DH spent some time with us with his hand over baby, so he's had the opportunity to feel her rolling around and doing whatever it is she does. He doesn't typically do that, so it was good.

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?
    Nothing.

  • EDD? Jan 7 (22+3 today)

Symptoms? Heartburn/acid reflux is back, exhaustion, moodiness, muscle pain at the top of my abs directly behind my bra that my doc insists is more stretching pain, inability to concentrate is making work pretty difficult

Upcoming appointments? Just had a follow-up sono today to get some pics they couldn't see last time.  We have a midwife appt and our 24 week sono (to get back on schedule) in 2 weeks. I think I'll be doing the glucose test by week 26.  Joy!

    R/R/Q:

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book? The Harry Potter series, which I started reading when I was about 11. Also "Where the Wild Things Are" from general childhood -- so excited to have a boy and name him Max! :)

My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)

    IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
    IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019

  • @rooonilwaazlib Seriously. My inability to concentrate is going to get me fired lol. I'm basically doing the bare minimum right now. I don't know what's wrong with me.

  • @rooonilwaazlib @tosh24 Bare minimum club! I can't focus at all during the day. And then at nighttime I'm super productive and alert. I have no idea what's wrong with me, but it's messing up my sleep schedule. I really wish I didn't have to work.
  • EDD? Jan 7

Symptoms? Tired, increased appetite, heartburn (mostly at night), boobs are starting to leak a little bit (not a lot but definitely earlier than I expected that to happen!).

Upcoming appointments? Just another check up in a few weeks.

R/R/Q: DH has finally been able to feel the baby move so he’ll rest his hand on my belly when we’re laying down together and wait to feel baby. He’s also started talking to the baby a bit which is really sweet. I think now that he’s seen the baby, felt the baby, and I’m looking more pregnant it’s starting to feel more real to him.

I found out today that that there was an applicant to cover my maternity leave. I teach both physics and math so the sub would have to have dual certification in those subjects. It’s not very common to have that combo so I was legitimately worried they wouldn’t find anyone. I feel a lot better knowing there’s at least one person out there who could fill the job!

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?
Harry Potter- I was a kid when I started so I’m counting them.
Picture book wise, I loved Chicka Chicka Boom Boom as a kid.

    EDD?  1/2

Symptoms?  My feet and ankles have been swelling a ton lately and it makes being productive with household chores and any type of shopping super unbearable.  Also the back pain is a killer and I get to spend 6 hours in the car tomorrow so I probably won't be able to move or do much of anything on Sunday.

Upcoming appointments? My bi-weekly is on Monday.  I'm excited to see how much this boy has grown because I feel like it's a ton!

R/R/Q: Rant: DH has been very non-touchy lately which is very out of character (esp compared to how he was during my first pregnancy).  I'm not sure if its because I popped much earlier and he's being extra cautious or what but just in the past few days he's actually been touching my belly and gets annoyed when he doesn't feel anything.  I think it's part jealousy because DS felt the baby last weekend when DH wasn't home.  Also, add me to the lack of concentration group.  Its so super hard because last month was my highest intake month at work so I currently feel like I'm drowning in work a little extra right now.  Not fun :(

Rave: I popped onto Buy Buy Baby's site yesterday and noticed a Graco sale going on so the travel system we fell in love with was on sale ($137 cheaper than normal price btwn sale and their coupon).  When I told my mom I was going to buy it, she called me with her credit card number and offered to buy it for us for our shower.  That is seriously the ONE item that we were hoping to get for this baby because our original car seat is expired and we never had a travel system with #1 and we hope it makes life much easier.

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book? Funny you all mentioned Love You Forever and crying.  I've never been a crier with books but I read it to DS as one of his bedtime stories earlier this week and sobbed as soon as he went to bed.  Oh hormones..... I'm also a huge fan of Dr. Seuss and particularly love Oh The Places You Will Go.  I have a wooden sign with a quote from it hanging in my office!

@Ghostie625 My SIL used to be an Elementary School reading specialist and at one of her conferences a few years ago, one of the authors of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom was their guest speaker so she had him sign a book for DS.  It's neat to have those little keepsakes :)

ETA... I had to update wording/spelling in both my posts because pregnancy brain is in FULL effect today apparently!
  • @alexandraseattle Same with pain. Major hip pain esp with sleeping. I have a prenatal massage but not for another 2 weeks /whine

    EDD?  Jan 6th

Symptoms?  Hip pain, some heartburn, getting out of breath more easily

Upcoming appointments? Monday I have a fetal echocardiogram that I'm really trying not to freak out about, but am freaking out about. Then a regular midwife check-in on the 18th.

R/R/Q: MIL coming to visit this Sat - Mon, and will be here for Monday's appointment; DH can't make it to that appointment. This is making me even more nervous. God forbid, what if something *is* wrong? I have to hear about it and hold it together in front of MIL myself? Ugh. Also, though we are the neatest of our friends-group, our house is not as neat and organized as MIL's, and I feel judged every. time. she. comes. over. So, have spent the week with a cold trying to do additional cleaning/pick-up/etc., but just know there will be something. I haven't vacuumed my couches, maybe we can do that tonight :/

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book? So many that have been named above - I'll go with Love you Forever and Harry Potter :) Though we were also HUGE Tommie dePaola fans as kids.

  • EDD?
    1/5
    Symptoms?
I went from having basically no appetite the past few weeks to being absolutely ravenous yesterday and today with suchhh a sweet tooth. I look like I've gained about 25 lbs just in my feet and ankles. And I had about one week of having that great second trimester energy and now I'm exhausted all the time again.
    Upcoming appointments?
Checkup with CNM at the end of the month
    R/R/Q:
Rant: All of the sudden I'm super annoyed that all of my social engagements are alcohol based. Most of my close friends from hs/college are scattered around the country now so I spend a lot of time with my husband's core group of best friends and their wives who are all local. Every weekend it's just breweries and bars and I've basically just stopped going because I'm over it and so jealous of everyone else being able to drink.

Rave: It is like 65 degrees right now and I want to cry out of pure happiness. The constant 90+ degree weather was not agreeing with me.
GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?
I don't really remember what my favorite book from childhood is, but I live pretty close to the Boston Public Gardens and can't wait to bring my little one there and read him Make Way for Ducklings!
  • edited September 2018
@kaf1788 -  I have become the same way!  We go to lots of wineries and wine festivals in late summer/early fall and there is a big one this weekend.  I told DH months ago there way no way I was going to spend $45/ticket to go and not drink and be pretty much miserable.  So then friends of ours asked yesterday if we were going and DH said no because its pointless since I can't enjoy myself and they said he was a "good man" and so amazing for putting me first.  Um, no beetches - he is no saint and would have said yes in a heart beat if he knew it wasn't risking him getting his goods cut off!  Yea - I'm also pretty bitter about it right now!!
  • EDD?
    1/4

    Symptoms?
    Sciatica primarily.  Tired, emotional.

    Upcoming appointments?
    Not until 9/17.

    R/R/Q:
He can reach my rib cage when I sat at my desk, so that's irritating.  Finances are also stressing me out.

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?
Good Night Moon is definitely one of my favorites.  For my husband's first father's day after our oldest was born his mom got this book called Goodnight Daddy that's become a favorite because of how much our kids absolutely love it.  My oldest used to bring it to me every morning when my husband worked full time and ask to read it because he missed daddy.  <3
  • EDD?

    1/5

    Symptoms?

My hips and back are killing me this week. I'm also not sleeping well, so I'm exhausted all the time.

    Upcoming appointments?

    Nothing for a couple weeks

    R/R/Q:

Not pregnancy related, but I found out yesterday that my favorite junior associate/ mentee is leaving our firm. Her BF hasn't been able to find a job in our area after 2 years of looking, so she finally found one near him instead.  I totally understand her reasons for moving, but I'm so sad she's leaving.   :'(

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book?

The Velveteen Rabbit.  Also a big Harry Potter fan, but I don't view those as just children's books.

(Maybe the question next week should be about least favorite children's books.  I have some opinions lol)

  • @bradleysmommy28 which travel system did you get? I have a Graco jogger travel system on my registry and it looks like its about $45 off with the sale. I'm trying to decide if it's worth buying (with a coupon) now or waiting to see if someone gifts it...

@kaf1788 ugh the drinking. We went to an event last night with tons of open bars and trays full of glasses of champagne... it was rough. I don't think I've ever drank so much club soda in my life. I will admit that I do feel much better today than I would have if I had been able to partake!

    EDD? 1/5/19

Symptoms? continuing to feel pretty good. Some heartburn in the evenings. I feel like I'm getting bigger everyday...

Upcoming appointments? Just had a checkup on Thursday so the next one won't be for another 4 weeks

R/R/Q:  Rave: Cheese popcorn is AMAZING Rant: DH keeps eating it...

GTKY: What is your favorite children's book? I loved cloudy with a chance of meatballs (pre-movie). I'm also super excited to re-read all the Laura Ingalls Wilder books with our daughter.
