Re: PGAL check in w/o 9/5
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
25+6
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
So.tired. On and off pelvic pain, but overall not really bad.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Pretty good. I obviously have my concerns, but I'm really beginning to believe that I will have my take home baby in just a few short months!
4. Any appointment updates?
Nope, general OB check tomorrow afternoon. It was supposed to be last Friday, but my Dr. was called into L&D, so we rescheduled.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Work is still busy. I'm a little nervous about maternity leave. I'm thinking I will be working PT from home throughout it, since I don't have a replacement to cover for me at all, and most of what I do is time sensitive. The good news is, if I do that, I'll at least make a little money (I get zero paid mat leave). Also, we are going to get started on the baby's room this weekend! At least we will get the TV out of there, fill the wall where it was hanging, and hopefully paint soon.
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)
I'm super boring. Green grapes, Colby jack string cheese, pretzels, baby carrots, mini cucumbers, green apples with brie cheese, and toast.
25+2
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
I've been pretty emotional the past few days, nothing concerning really but crying at the drop of a hat is annoying!
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I've been trying to keep my anxiety in check since my blood pressure issues last week. No news is good news with my doctor and I never heard from her after the 24 hour urine collection and bloodwork so I assume all is well.
4. Any appointment updates?
I go for a recheck on my blood pressure next Wednesday.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
@Hollyyyyy I've started to worry about maternity leave also. My original plan was short term disability so I would at least get some money but I believe (and am trying to confirm) that if I take short term disability, my access to my phone and email is cut off and my plan is to work from home part time after a couple weeks or I'll be drowning when I come back. I report directly to the president of the company (he's also my uncle) and he will definitely work with me on an alternative plan but getting him to pin down that plan has proven difficult. We have a quarterly meeting in October with all the executives and upper management and I want the plan to be in place by then so it can be discussed but he's dragging his feet.
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)
I am the worst at keeping snack foods in my house because when I buy it, I eat it all too quickly! Tortilla chips and sour cream with a little salsa is my go to though.
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
23+2, so well past my milestone!
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Pretty good, overall. My thigh has started to go numb and I have been struggling with insomnia. I actually slept for 6.5 hours last night though (minus a couple of restroom breaks)!
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I feel pretty relaxed since baby is moving around so much, but I still catch myself saying things like, “If everything goes as planned”, instead of just assuming everything will be fine.
4. Any appointment updates?
Not until next Tuesday.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
We finally got all of the attic stuff out of the nursery, so I’m feeling way more prepared. I basically just need to wash everything, put clothes in the drawers, and get the gear out and we will be all set!
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)
Cheese and wheat thins, cheese sticks, trail mix, Ritz chips, fruit, carrot sticks if I’m desperate.
25w3d. Milestones are passed!
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Feeling tired because of not sleeping great. Also large and in charge over here. I’ve been cleaning constantly and bending over all the time is not my friend. Other than that I really can’t complain.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I’m feeling good! Movement is pretty regular so that reassurance helps of course.
4. Any appointment updates?
Not for a couple of weeks.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
DD is kind of sick today so she woke up early and she’s been a bear. Poor dh really needs to sleep because he has to work tonight and she is being so screamy and not listening to anything I say. Thus, Sesame Street is on so she will be quiet for a while. TV as babysitter ftw. Pray for a long nap today, friends.
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)
Snacks depend on what I’m wanting when I go food shopping. I almost always have some form of chips. I am a salty over sweet person most of the time. But pregnant me also always has cookies or something sweet on hand because I can’t control myself at night. (Clearly I am a naughty snacker unlike you folks with your fruit and your cheese!
@lippy625 and holly- I'm with you guys on needed it get it together about mat leave. I just heard that my company is thinking of changing benefits AGAIN. I don't know if i'll get the 2018 benefits because the baby is born in 2018 or the 2019 benefits because i'll be taking leave in 2019. And they haven't announced it yet- ugh!
@katy0990 lol at carrot sticks if you're desperate. I totally feel the same way. Like, i willllllllllll, but only if there is nothing else
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
25+6
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
not too bad! Belly in the way and annoying, but otherwise relatively good.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
pretty good. Like others, baby moves all the time and it's helpful.
4. Any appointment updates?
Nope, nothing till the end of the month
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
H SAW the baby move on the outside last night! His reaction was "wow, that's f****ked up". i was like, yeah try feeling it from the inside all the time.
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)
I am big on a cheddar cheese and mustard sandwhich (i know that sounds weird). Also honey bunches of oats, but I feel like i need to expand my horizons
@katy0990 Possibly. Technically, I can take as much time as I want. It just won’t be paid, and my job won’t get done. I am in a salaried real estate position, so I don’t get benefits, but most of what I do needs to be turned in and signed off by the brokerage I work for, within 72 hours of execution. So it will really be in my best interest, to find a way to at least get the time-sensitive stuff done while I am at home. The other stuff I do (throw neighborhood parties/events, etc.) is mostly a March-September kind of thing, so I don’t really need to worry about that. One of the perks of having a December baby, is that we will not be kicking off new neighborhoods in the middle of Winter!
So this is a weird tip, and it seems to work for me, but full disclosure, it may be a placebo effect. I have been getting tingly/numb legs at night throughout this whole pregnancy, and someone I work with suggested eating a big spoonful of yellow mustard before bed. I have been doing so, and it really does seem to help. It’s pretty nasty though, and I definitely have to choke it down and chase it with water. Might be something worth trying, though.
@rosebud332 Awh, sorry to hear she’s still not feeling so good. Hope she feels better soon, and you both get a long nap in today! Oh, and FTR I ate an entire family size bag of Double Stuff Oreos pretty much by myself, last week. I don't consider that a snack though, since I kind of ate that instead of dinner, haha.
@lippy625 FX for no news is good news regarding your blood pressure!
@katy0990 It made me lol that you said carrot sticks if you're desperate!
@rosebud332 FX your daughter starts feeling better!
@morgantu My mom used to make me mustard and cheddar cheese sandwiches for lunch when I was a kid!
1. How far along are you? Any milestones? 27w3d
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)? Not too bad, just starting to feel tired.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)? Doing well! LO moves around SO MUCH!
4. Any appointment updates? Next appt is next week! Then I'm to every two weeks! What!?
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): The nursery is painted! Weee!
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.) Grapes, Watermelon, Chips, Chocolate covered banana slices, Ice cream, or mug cake mix (bought a box of rainbow chip because I'm 6 years old.)

Yes, my H gets pretty good paternity leave, but he is a financial advisor and won't make commissions over the time he is gone. So he would just get base pay, which isn't much compared to what he would otherwise make, so he will probably stick with just 2 weeks off. The nice part about my job, is a lot of it I can do remotely and at random hours, so we will find a way to make it work. Or is my naive FTM optimism is showing?
These are Dole Banana Dippers and they're in the frozen dessert section!

@Hollyyyyy Mmmm, apples and brie. *Drooools (and then plans to go buy brie after appointment today)*
@lippy625 FX for a good BP reading!
@katy0990 I totally giggled at the carrots if you're desperate too.
@rosebud332 Ugh, sorry DD is feeling under the weather! Hopefully she gets a good, long nap and wakes up feeling refreshed (and also for you too)!
@texas_t The walls look great...I like that color! My coworker eats those banana dippers like they're going out of style.
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow! Well past my loss milestone, which was at 8 weeks.
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
The nausea is pretty much gone FINALLY! Occasional heartburn, trouble sleeping every night due to achy hips, knees and ankles and I'm still gassier than a trucker.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Much better since I can feel him move multiple times a day! But now, I just worry about complications during delivery or the cord becoming wrapped around his neck. Can't I just be worry free like I was with DD?! PGAL brain is just a mind f**k amirite, ladies?
4. Any appointment updates?
I have a follow up from my AS this afternoon! We get another US since we couldn't get a good look at his spine last time. Nothing worrisome, he just wasn't cooperating last time. He's SO my kid.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here): Went to Home Depot and bought paint for DD's new big girl room! Going with turquoise (aqua), white and gold. Just need to get the guest bed taken apart and sold (it's a log bed that DH made) and all of DD's clothes packed up to give to my friend and we can start painting...eeeekkk! We will be keeping the same paint (grey) that we had for DD in LO's room, just touching it up. He will use DD's old furniture (crib, dresser, changing table, glider and bedside table) and I will be repainting some of the wall decorations to match his new theme, but I will also buy him some new wall hangings and will also craft something with his name on it for his wall like I did for DD. My Mom and I also went to Joann to pick out fabric so she can make him a quilt. That was fun helping this time, considering I usually just have her pick out the fabrics (she does a great job picking them out).
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.) Lately, it's been tortilla chips with green chile sour cream dip, cherries, fresh veggies with a fiesta ranch sour cream dip, apples with Nutella, golden Oreos, Famous Dave's spicy pickle chips.

@rosebud332 I hope your daughter feels better soon and that she takes a nice long nap!
@morgantu I appreciate your honesty about your husband's reaction to the baby movement. MH has said basically the same thing. It freaks him out! A couple of weeks ago I asked my 2-year-old if he wanted to feel he baby kick and he gave me a horrified look and said, "I don't want baby Jellybean to kick me!!!"
@hollyyy Thanks! I may have to give that a shot! I forgot how annoying it is to be numb!
@texas_t Every 2 weeks! Wow! Shit's getting real
@clbness Good luck at your u/s! I also need to try tthat dip! Re: cord issues I would ask at the ultrasound if they can tell where the cord is. I have heard that sometimes they can tell if it is in a position to become easily wrapped.
27w+3d
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Itchy! Reflux, some crampy pain. Back sche/sciatica.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Medium. Dr started me on the med for Cholestasis so I feel less worried because it's supposed to lower stillbirth risk back to 'normal' levels. She's also been moving a lot more since I started the meds, most of the time.
4. Any appointment updates?
I have my monthly appt on Friday, then start going every 2 weeks (or more, most Cholestasis patients go for NSTs 2x a week, but maybe not til 32 weeks, gonna ask).
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever: School, football & cub scouts for the kid. Built his new big boy bed today, yay! MOPS starts back up Monday & I'm excited. It's pretty much my only adult interaction time!
On Saturday the upstairs toilet overflowed & went into the HVAC (floor vent). Leaked into our kitchen/living room & bathroom downstairs. Now our house is stinky. We rent & the maintenance man says there isn't really anything to do for the HVAC. Ugh. Need to have the carpet cleaned at minimal.
6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? Ice cream, spoonful of Cookie Butter (Trader Joe's), fruit, cheetos, tortilla chips & salsa or queso, granola bars.
@morgantu I would definitely argue that you get whichever benefits you like best since it sounds like it could go either way based on when baby is born and when the majority of your leave is.
@Hollyyyyy I would've done the same as you and not waited! I am definitely lucky for the STD option and that my uncle is going to be flexible with me. Part of why I think he's dragging his feet though is because I'll be the first department head in the company to need maternity leave and he wants to set a good precedent for everyone who comes after me. Obviously I want that too but the planner in me needs to know now! haha
