  • @Hollyyyyy it's a reference from parks and rec. Leslie knope hosts a brunch for her girlfriends on Feb 13

@lippy625 and holly- I'm with you guys on needed it get it together about mat leave. I just heard that my company is thinking of changing benefits AGAIN. I don't know if i'll get the 2018 benefits because the baby is born in 2018 or the 2019 benefits because i'll be taking leave in 2019. And they haven't announced it yet- ugh!

@katy0990 lol at carrot sticks if you're desperate. I totally feel the same way. Like, i willllllllllll, but only if there is nothing else :)

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
    25+6
    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
not too bad! Belly in the way and annoying, but otherwise relatively good.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
pretty good. Like others, baby moves all the time and it's helpful.

    4. Any appointment updates?
Nope, nothing till the end of the month

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
H SAW the baby move on the outside last night! His reaction was "wow, that's f****ked up". i was like, yeah try feeling it from the inside all the time.

    6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)
I am big on a cheddar cheese and mustard sandwhich (i know that sounds weird). Also honey bunches of oats, but I feel like i need to expand my horizons
  • @lippy625 That would be great if you potentially have STD! I signed up for Aflac this past January, and got pregnant 8 days before my maternity leave STD would kick in (IIRC there was a 60 day delay period). So that timing kind of sucks, but overall, dealing with IF we weren’t exactly in a position to be skipping cycles, and even with missing out on semi-paid mat leave, I am glad we didn’t wait. You are lucky to work for you uncle, and that’s so great that he will come up with an alternative plan for you. Sucks that he is dragging his feet, though.

@katy0990 Possibly. Technically, I can take as much time as I want. It just won’t be paid, and my job won’t get done. I am in a salaried real estate position, so I don’t get benefits, but most of what I do needs to be turned in and signed off by the brokerage I work for, within 72 hours of execution. So it will really be in my best interest, to find a way to at least get the time-sensitive stuff done while I am at home. The other stuff I do (throw neighborhood parties/events, etc.) is mostly a March-September kind of thing, so I don’t really need to worry about that. One of the perks of having a December baby, is that we will not be kicking off new neighborhoods in the middle of Winter!

So this is a weird tip, and it seems to work for me, but full disclosure, it may be a placebo effect. I have been getting tingly/numb legs at night throughout this whole pregnancy, and someone I work with suggested eating a big spoonful of yellow mustard before bed. I have been doing so, and it really does seem to help. It’s pretty nasty though, and I definitely have to choke it down and chase it with water. Might be something worth trying, though.

@rosebud332 Awh, sorry to hear she’s still not feeling so good. Hope she feels better soon, and you both get a long nap in today! Oh, and FTR I ate an entire family size bag of Double Stuff Oreos pretty much by myself, last week. I don't consider that a snack though, since I kind of ate that instead of dinner, haha.

  • @texas_t Where do you get chocolate covered banana slices?! That sounds amazing. Your nursery looks great, that room is huge! Ours is SO small!

Yes, my H gets pretty good paternity leave, but he is a financial advisor and won't make commissions over the time he is gone. So he would just get base pay, which isn't much compared to what he would otherwise make, so he will probably stick with just 2 weeks off. The nice part about my job, is a lot of it I can do remotely and at random hours, so we will find a way to make it work. Or is my naive FTM optimism is showing?
  • @Hollyyyyy We ended up going with a 3 bedroom house instead of a 4 because these bedrooms are huge! That lets us keep the nursery a dual guest room because what do baby's actually do in their room? lol

These are Dole Banana Dippers and they're in the frozen dessert section!

  • @morgantu I love me some Leslie Knope!  YH's reaction is hilarious.  MH was disappointed because it took him a long time to feel the movement with DD and once he felt it, he was like, "that's f***ing weird!"  and wasn't really interested in feeling her much after that because it kind of creeped him out.  Men.

@Hollyyyyy Mmmm, apples and brie.  *Drooools (and then plans to go buy brie after appointment today)*

@lippy625 FX for a good BP reading!

@katy0990 I totally giggled at the carrots if you're desperate too.  :D  Yay for the progress on  your nursery/attic!

@rosebud332 Ugh, sorry DD is feeling under the weather!  Hopefully she gets a good, long nap and wakes up feeling refreshed (and also for you too)!

@texas_t The walls look great...I like that color!  My coworker eats those banana dippers like they're going out of style.

    1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
I'll be 25 weeks tomorrow!  Well past my loss milestone, which was at 8 weeks.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
The nausea is pretty much gone FINALLY!  Occasional heartburn, trouble sleeping every night due to achy hips, knees and ankles and I'm still gassier than a trucker.

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Much better since I can feel him move multiple times a day!  But now, I just worry about complications during delivery or the cord becoming wrapped around his neck.  Can't I just be worry free like I was with DD?!  PGAL brain is just a mind f**k amirite, ladies?

    4. Any appointment updates?
I have a follow up from my AS this afternoon!  We get another US since we couldn't get a good look at his spine last time.  Nothing worrisome, he just wasn't cooperating last time.  He's SO my kid.  ;)

    5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):  Went to Home Depot and bought paint for DD's new big girl room!  Going with turquoise (aqua), white and gold.  Just need to get the guest bed taken apart and sold (it's a log bed that DH made) and all of DD's clothes packed up to give to my friend and we can start painting...eeeekkk!  We will be keeping the same paint (grey) that we had for DD in LO's room, just touching it up.  He will use DD's old furniture (crib, dresser, changing table, glider and bedside table) and I will be repainting some of the wall decorations to match his new theme, but I will also buy him some new wall hangings and will also craft something with his name on it for his wall like I did for DD.  My Mom and I also went to Joann to pick out fabric so she can make him a quilt.  That was fun helping this time, considering I usually just have her pick out the fabrics (she does a great job picking them out).
    6. GTKY: What's your go-to snack food that you always have at home? (this is self serving, i'm bored of my snacks.)  Lately, it's been tortilla chips with green chile sour cream dip, cherries, fresh veggies with a fiesta ranch sour cream dip, apples with Nutella, golden Oreos, Famous Dave's spicy pickle chips.

  • @clbness @katy0990 yeah, he's excited and everything, but after he felt it a few times and now saw it he's pretty much like, yeah, i'm good. which, honestly is fine with me. It IS weird! I can't imagine just seeing/feeling from the outside.
  • @mommythlegend That sounds rough about your toilet and HVAC. I’m glad they put you on meds to help! Do you still feel itchy? Also, I’m glad to hear you enjoy MOPS I just joined this week and I’m looking forward to it!
  • @katy0990 yes, still very itchy! I read it can take a week to work, which is still 2 days away, but also that sometimes it doesn't effect the itch. The itch gets worse the farther along you get. I hope not!
  • @mommythlegend Fx the itching stops soon!
  • The bump is glitching for me and I'm not getting tag notifications apparently  :#

@morgantu I would definitely argue that you get whichever benefits you like best since it sounds like it could go either way based on when baby is born and when the majority of your leave is.

@Hollyyyyy I would've done the same as you and not waited! I am definitely lucky for the STD option and that my uncle is going to be flexible with me. Part of why I think he's dragging his feet though is because I'll be the first department head in the company to need maternity leave and he wants to set a good precedent for everyone who comes after me. Obviously I want that too but the planner in me needs to know now! haha
