Working on shower thank you notes while dh works on redoing our bathroom. Was going to cook but not much motivation to go grocery shopping and the kitchen is overtaken by tools.
@hellopartyof5 I really want to take the kids apple picking today, but I went walking around IKEA on Friday and damn near died. My hip pain and now swelling feet are really doing a number on me. The farm I want to go to sells 1/2 peck bags (~5lbs each) so I'm not even sure what I'd do with that many apples, but they have the most reasonable rates around. We only did pumpkin picking last year because I didn't know about this place and of course now I'm big and pregnant and don't want the kids to miss out again.
Yesterday we spent most of the day waiting for the idiot guy to fix the water connection to the refrigerator and replace the outlet for the over the range microwave. He was supposed to come back later to paint the patched wall. Of course this asshole never showed back up so we have an ugly patched/unpainted wall in our guest bathroom!! We put together my son's new loft bed (I love the way it looks) but it was a total pain to put together. We got it from IKEA so of course it came in 1 million pieces.
No Labor Day plans. We're really just exhausted from still trying to settle into the new place. My husband usually reserves Sundays as his lazy day but we've got to check on our rental property (new tenants moved in yesterday) and he has some outside yard work to do over there. Tomorrow we'll just veg out on Netflix and I'll probably pick up some finger foods to graze on for most of the day. We are soccer fans so no football games for us either.
This weekend I’m getting shit done around the house. I feel super productive even if it is mostly things like laundry and taking out the trash.
I spent half the day yesterday with Max, and will head back over there mid-afternoon. However, I am hoping to have finished setting up the nursery before I head that way.
In other news, a story for you all...
When my Dad came to visit me in the hospital right after Max was born, he brought me something special and made me cry. Max and I each have our own now, although I won’t be upset if Max doesn’t come to love his Big Foot as much as I loved mine.
Yesterday DH and I went shopping to get stuff for our room, today was to pick up last little baby stuff and this afternoon DH and my dad are putting things together and my mom and I are going through and washing baby clothes! Were gonna have a room set up by the end of the day!!!
Yesterday I took the dog for along walk. Did some cooking and quilting and then we went to a cookout at night. Didn’t sleep well and today I feel like crap.
Today I walked with the dog again and have mostly been lounging on the couch and doing more quilting. I gotta get this dang wedding quilt done!
@ummibtihaj peel and core the apples and then throw them in a slow cooker with a splash of lemon juice and cook them down for no sugar added natural applesauce! I am a FTM but dh and I LOVE making our own. So good warm or cold. Freezes awesome too!
Yesterday we had soccer for DS. Two year olds didn’t impress me this week. They all listened better last week. It was just a whiny mess. Then we lounged the rest of the day, which I felt guilty about. Today we hung out by the pool with family. I didn’t feel LO move all day so I got worried and landed in L&D. Luckily all is well and he is fine. Most likely snuggled up with his knees and feet toward my back.
I actually kind of forgot yesterday was Sunday since today is a holiday! Saturday we returned a few things from our shower, got a few things we still needed and ordered the blinds for his room. Then we set up the baby monitor and a few other things in the nursery...I’m getting so excited, I just want to be in there all day but there isn’t really much more we can do right now!
Yesterday we went with the ILs to our local arts and music festival they have every Labor Day weekend. It was fun but super hot and I was pretty much done after a couple of hours. So once we got home I turned down the ac and sat on the couch for the rest of the night!
Today I will probably work on some homework, but mostly just laundry and relaxing because I don’t feel like doing anything.
Saturday DH was gone most of the morning so when DD went down for her nap I finished ironing the mobile I made for the twins and put the finishing touches on their initials. Then when he got home we went to MIL’s new house. It’s cute, but with no AC, it was kind of miserable.
Yesterday DD was SUPER crabby all morning, but we managed to grab breakfast and come home. Just relaxed most of the day. DH cleaned out the fridge and I worked a little on crocheting a blanket for the twins.
Hopefully I’ll get the nursery completely organized and decorated today (just have to put dipes and wipes out). I am going to pack my hospital bag too so that’s ready, and I’d like to take DD somewhere fun today. Thankfully she’s still young so it doesn’t have to be a long adventure to make her happy.
We ended up not going apple picking yesterday. It was close to 90° and super humid. I just couldn't deal with it. I want to try and get out there one of these weekends soon though. @SweetSweetTooth I like the idea of applesauce. My youngest loves it. How long does it keep?
@sammierose464 It was hot and crowded. We only stayed for maybe an hour and a half. I wanted to try to find something for the walls of the nursery but no luck. I did get a nice ice cream cookie sandwich out of it though!
@spartan4life I've never been to that one (I'm assuming you mean arts, beats, and eats). There's a lot that happen over the summer downriver, but it's been so gross all summer I've avoided all but the two closest to me.
We took our babymoon this weekend over the holiday! We were looking for an autumn feel so went up into the mountains to Vail, CO and stayed at a B&B. It was wonderful.
The weather was in the high 50s in the early morning and then warmed up to around 70 during the day - just perfect. We sat on the front porch swing each morning and drank coffee (a delicious decaf latte for me lol) enjoying the cool, crisp mountain air. We went into Vail Village each day and walked around the town, got pizza and ice cream. There was also a farmers’ market and a food festival going on so we walked through those and picked up some corn to take home for Labor Day.
We slept in, read books on the deck at the B&B, played cards together, went out to dinner, etc. It was a great, quiet trip enjoying one of the last weekends just the two of us before baby comes.

@KFrob I hope you get back someday! Despite only living 2 hours south, it was our first time getting up there! It was great - we will definitely go back!

@sammierose464 Yup, arts beats and eats! It’s normally really fun even when it’s hot to be able to walk around and listen to the different music and have a couple beers. It was not nearly as much fun this year since I had no interest in sitting in the heat listening to music (and of course no beer), but they have some great artists that we have bought from the last few years so I was hoping we would find something this year too. The food is just ok, and a bit over priced IMO but the ice cream sandwich was worth it. You should definitely check it out one of these years. They have fun kid activities so I’m looking forward to taking baby in the future.

I hadn’t even thought about getting to take Max to all the kids tables at the events I go to! I never stop by them because I don’t want to be the creepy single person stalking the kids activities.

Darn that was long lol.

What is wrong with me...
