Symptoms? My gag reflexes have been a thorn in my side. I'm constantly gagging on my tooth brush. When does it stop?
Upcoming appointments? Not until end of September.
R/R/Q: I'm really happy to be over the half way mark. I feel like we're making great progress on V's nursery. Not a lot to report over all though
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of?
To be honest I can't think of anyone that gets it 100% right or wrong. There are definitely lessons i take away from the people I know. I think my neighbors who adopted are doing an amazing job. I am trying to learn everything i can from them. There is another set of friends I want to be the polar opposite of. I feel like the mom is super high strung and never takes her kid to do anything and such a micro manager. DNW to be that way at all.
Upcoming appointments? bi-weekly cervix check and MFM appointment this afternoon
R/R/Q: anxiety is kicking into high gear now that I'm 2 wks away from viability and 7 wks away from when my water broke with #1. I feel dumb for being a crazy worry wart but I can't help it.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? We always agreed to be the opposite of my brother and SIL and I feel like we were super successful at it with #1. Main things - they had an hour plus bedtime routine that included rocking them to sleep so it made it super difficult for my parents or any babysitter to watch the kids at night or over night. They lived their lives around feeding and nap schedules - we are on the go too much and agreed that we would adapt our kids to a similar "on the go" lifestyle which has helped us a TON because our son will sleep anywhere and everywhere and also would take a bottle or eat without much of a fight if we were on the go. They were given electronics all the time and beginning young so they will not ride in the car, sit at a dinner or lunch table or have "quiet time" without a tablet or phone. My son has learned to use his imagination, toys, crayons etc and play both in the car and at restaurants without needing electronics to pacify him. He has a tablet and gets to use it but it's not his babysitter. They also don't really punish their kids other than the occasional time out so the kids don't have good boundaries, don't listen to adults very well and hate being with my husband and I because we believe in punishments if you don't listen (nothing harsh, you just don't get rewards for being bad in our house!).
Symptoms? My belly button feels like a champagne cork that's about to pop out to an outie and any given second which is very bizarre. Also, I have been consistently waking up at 4am and unable to go back to sleep, so that's annoying. Overall I am actually feeling really good lately in terms of appetite/nausea/energy
Upcoming appointments? standard prenatal on Wednesday
R/R/Q: Rant: Just found out the "preschools" in our area have a 2 year wait list that I was apparently supposed to sign up for the second I POAS so I'm already behind....how is that possible?? . Rave: I found out said information because I was finally able to connect with some other expecting moms and we started going to brunch after prenatal yoga each Saturday. Some of you might remember I was desperately trying to meet new/expecting moms in my area for several months now and showed up to an meetup I found online where I was literally the only person at the restaurant holding a table waiting for anyone to show for a solid hour....it was humiliating and my introverted-social anxiety nightmare
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? I had a very good childhood and would like to emulate many aspects of how my parents raised me with some very intentional departures. DH also had some aspects of his upbringing that we both want to incorporate into our parenting style as well. I would love to meet a family that practices that exact philosophy that I could just simply "emulate" lol
Upcoming appointments? Not until end of next month.
R/R/Q: A bit of a silly rant... Pre-pregnancy I could walk for hours and hours and feel fine. Yesterday I walked the equivalent of 9ish km, and my body is killing me. I feel like I've just gone through an obstacle course.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? Nope. I want to be the opposite of my own parents because they're not great people, but that's about it.
Still itching like crazy, poor sleep quality, swollen hands and feet
Upcoming appointments?
Nothing for a month, just anxiously awaiting the results of my liver function and bile acid tests to see if I have cholestasis
R/R/Q:
Rants:
The itching is still driving me crazy. The only thing I've found that helps is ice cold. I got two pairs of socks with gel pack inserts. My feet are freezing cold while I wear them, but at least I get a short break from the itching. Unfortunately, they don't help with the 4 am itching unless I get up to get a new pair out of the freezer.
I've also been waking up at 4-5 am lately. With the itching, it's SO hard to fall back asleep. I'm freaking exhausted.
Also, my hands are too swollen to wear my wedding rings, which is bumming me out. I'm thinking of getting a very simple, plain band in a larger size to wear when I can't wear my normal rings.
Rave: DH has been so sweet and considerate lately. This pregnancy has brought us closer together and I'm loving it. He used the phrase "our son" in a conversation the other day for the first time, and my heart might have melted a little bit.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of?
There's no one set of parents we want to emulate 100%. I think we'd like to take bits and pieces of various parents we know. Our parents both did a great job, though there are some things we plan to do differently. We also have a few friends that seem to be doing a great job so far, so we'll want to emulate at least part of their parenting styles.
@AshVA have you ever seen the silicone wedding bands? I do a lot of weight training and started wearing them so I didn't ruin my rings. I have Qalo, Enzo and some cheapos from Amazon. You can get lots of pretty colors and they are pretty cheap. Also, if you prefer more real looking ones, search Amazon for Newshe wedding bands. My "real" fake rings that I wear on vacations and if my hands swell are this brand and they actually look pretty real.
Symptoms? heartburn, crazy dreams, constipation but it’s getting better (yay for natural calm!), and I waddle when I walk now
Upcoming appointments? I have to have another ultrasound on Friday with a perinatal doctor. Everything is fine but they want clearer pictures of baby’s heart, spine, and face. I had to do the same thing with DS because he moved around a lot during the AS.
R/R/Q: Rave: Yay for cooler weather! And by cooler I mean lower 90’s lol. It’s so nice in the morning and evening now. I kind of want to put out my fall/ Halloween decorations just because I want it to be fall soooo bad.
Rant: it’s not fall yet.
Q: is anyone else a little extra stinky down there? It’s not an abnormal smell but it’s stnkier than usual. I wash down there every day and it helps a little. Last night, DH and I dtd for the first time in a while because I was dealing with spotting issues my whole first trimester and I didn’t have him do anything for me because I felt stinky.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? My parents are awesome parents so I look to my mom a lot for advice. In the end, we do what’s best for us.
Heartburn like crazy lately, even before I eat/drink for the day. Waking up regularly around 2/3 and trouble falling back asleep.
Upcoming appointments?
Fetal echocardiogram to check heart on Sep 10th. I wasn't nervous when they said I needed to come back for this appointment at the anatomy scan... but of course am now freaking out that even though I saw 4 chambers pumping blood in/out that maybe it's too small, or there was something I missed not being a trained tech, etc., and that something is really wrong. Ugh. We'll see I guess. Anyone had one of these done before? I think I heard they hurt?
R/R/Q:
Looking forward to our annual nerdy convention over Labor Day. Finished my cosplay this weekend, started cleaning out the room that will become the nursery (looks nowhere close to as done as galactickates), and generally starting to feel good about this pregnancy and planning things (but for the scan coming up).
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of?
I don't think anyone gets it all right, and most people fall well within the range of good-enough (or else we wouldn't have so many functioning adults, right?). There are things about both of our parents we like and dislike, and the same is true with out friends, so we have some ideas of things we like -- but I know at the end of the day a lot is going to depend on our particular child and lifestyle.
@sfgiantsgamerbabe I'll join you on that one. It's not a foul smell, it just smells like an extra vag-y vag haha. I'm dealing with increased discharge and moisture so I just figured it was that. I wonder if the change in hormones also increases the normal vag odour?

U/S 19May - one bean measuring on track with a HB of 125! EDD: 07Jan2019 Team Green My Rainbow Baby Boy born 03Jan2019
EDD? 1/7 Symptoms? Lots of hip/ joint pain. I fall asleep in the couch fairly easily but when I move to the bed it can take me up to an hour to fall back asleep. Upcoming appointments? Friday for OB appt and follow up from my A/S. Should be taken off pelvic rest now that my SCH is gone. R/R/Q: SCH is gone! lol DD D has officially been potty trained for a week now. There was only 1 accident and it was partly my fault. Even at daycare she stays dry. Hallelujah! GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? I had a nice childhood growing up. I look back and am glad my mom was able to attend all my school functions and such. Not to brag but I'd say we've done a good job with DD ( so far lol). I hope adding another one doesn't change too much in our family dynamic.
Symptoms? Hip pain is killing me, especially at night.
Upcoming appointments? Wednesday!
R/R/Q: Rant: This baby is messing up my internal clock. I don’t get sleepy until so late now, even though I’m exhausted. Normally I’m a bed by 10 person. Last night I finally got tired at 12:30 and the garbage truck woke me up at 5:15. I’m permanently a zombie. Rave: we added some vinyl birch tree decals to the wall in the nursery (first thing we’ve done) and it looks amazing!!
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? I don’t think there is anyone we want to be exactly the same or opposite of. Taking the best parts from everyone and realizing we have no idea what we are doing, and will probably F up along the way.
@sfgiantsgamerbabe I've had the same issue, and I don't remember having it with DS. I wash everyday and even have some of those summer's eve wipes I use if I have been sweating a lot or just feel unclean. Its just a much stronger odor then I am used to and makes me feel self conscious especially when DTD, I'm pretty sure DH can tell but has never said anything, although he was stayed away from downstairs for majority of the pregnancy but I really don't mind because I feel like I would just be thinking the whole time about the smell lol.
EDD? 1/1
Symptoms? Still with a lot of heartburn. Also tired legs, I think I need to get some compression socks for work.
Upcoming appointments? Routine appointment in 2 weeks with my glucose screening
R/R/Q: I'm ready for fall the be here. I feel so hot and sweaty all the time. My rave is DS has been sleeping in until like 10am, so on nights I don't work I get some great sleep.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? I think my parents have qualities I love like my mom was very involved in all of my school activities when I was little and my dad always coached us in sports. But I didn't really agree with the way the disciplined us, so I think we will just take a little from them and a little from DH's family. We also have friends who I think are doing a great job at raising their kids so we turn to them for advise often.
Symptoms? My boobs have been itchy AF lately, but the last few days I've remembered to put lotion on after I shower and it's helped. Also had my left one leak a little the other night. I woke up to a stain on my shirt about the size of a quarter. I really was not prepared for that to happen this early! Hasn't happened since so we'll see... Definitely getting out of breath more easily. I get winded if I go up the stairs too fast. Also been super hungry and having a snack about twice a day at work, plus lunch. I've been trying to keep it to healthy snacks though.
Upcoming appointments? Not for a few weeks but we had the anatomy scan last week and everything looks good as far as they can tell. I've said all along I want to be surprised by the gender, but did get a little tempted to find out. I resisted the urge though.
R/R/Q: Rave: DH has been pretty awesome in regards to being supportive during the pregnancy. When I got tempted to find out the gender at the ultrasound he reminded me I wanted to be surprised and if I still feel that way I can ask at the next appointment, even though he really wants to find out. (He's a better person than me. If the roles were reversed I would have said "ok, yeah, let's find out!" lol) He likes to put his hand on my belly and he'll talk to the baby sometimes, it's really sweet. I'm hoping he'll be able to feel the baby kick soon. It makes me really happy to see how excited he is to become a dad.
Rant: DH wanted fried chicken for dinner last night. At one point I went to go flip over a big piece and it slipped and hot oil splattered on my hand, the counter, and the floor. That was fun. I do have a cool splatter pattern burn mark on the side of my hand now.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? Overall I would emulate the way my parent's raised me. There are a few things I might do differently but for the most part I think they were/are good parents. I would be the opposite of DH's parents. I know they both love their kids but based on what I've heard they just didn't really step up to the responsibility of being parents and were happy to let the other adults in the family share that role. Fortunately for us we're pretty much on the same page that we'd rather be more like my parents than his.
Symptoms? Super tired, crying whenever AC/DC comes on the radio, craving chocolate chip cookies, zero verbal filter, sleeping like crap
Upcoming appointments? regular checkup with the midwife on Friday.
R/R/Q: I’m getting really tired of everyone asking me how I’m feeling. I know they mean well, but seriously... I’m feeling pregnant. And by 2:00 on a school day I am grumpy and sleepy. I’m also doing all I can to NOT focus on how tired/grumpy/uncomfortable I’m feeling.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of?
I think my parents did a great job when my brothers and I were little. Our transition from kid to adult was rough, but I’d love to emulate my parents for the younger (pre-teenage) years. I think most parents are doing the best they can though. Seriously. I’ve seen truly bad parents and it’s pretty easy to not be that.

@galactickates me too re: gagging on tooth brush. It's been since week 8 and I just brush like I'm diffusing a bomb in my mouth. Also, someone recommended I switch to natural toothpaste as sometimes the chemicals are part of what makes you gag when pregnant in an attempt to protect baby. I've been using Tom's peppermint toothpaste for a few months now. IDK if it's the effort to be more careful/not brush my tongue, the toothpaste, or the diminishing of general MS, but I have felt a bit better every week while brushing.
EDD? 1/7, 21+2 today!
Symptoms? Super tired, crying randomly, craving sweets (so not my norm), peeing 10x/day, restless legs, itchy skin, possibly swelling feet (This terrifies me because I'm already a size 11 and really don't want to have to shop for size 12 shoes!), lots of soreness in my belly and diaphragm area - round ligament style.
Upcoming appointments? follow-up appt on Tues 9/4 for more sonogram pics because they couldn't see all angles of the heart at my 20 week scan last week -- baby was flippin around like crazy!
R/R/Q: Rant: pre-existing back pain has been flaring up lately and I have no one but lil fetus to blame! Also, my summer hour luxury of working until 4pm has now ended. The extra hour I have to be here at the end of the day is nothing short of torture. Rave: my wife has been awesome about assuming most of the household duties lately as I am often too tired/lazy to contribute. Gold medal for her! We are going on a babymoon to key west in Oct but I think I want to take her somewhere for a weekend to show gratitude, somewhere driveable but lovely. Hmmmm...
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? I'd like to emulate my parents - my father died when I was 12 but during my childhood, I always remember them being such a good team. My childhood was shaped by two people who loved and respected each other, and treated my sister and me with respect too. They were firm disciplinarians when needed, but I always knew it came from people who cared for me. I'd like to be the opposite of my father-in-law. He comes from a very traditional italian male upbringing where he was the center of the universe and got away with whatever he wanted. He raised his own kids to fear him and to accept whatever he says/does without any leeway. He believes that because he has $, he can treat people however he wants, and he expects to get treated a certain way. He is a pretty racist, shock-value person and I plan to raise my kids knowing that his way of behaving is offensive and not acceptable, and to think of the way he talks as ignorant and behaviors from which my kids should rise above.
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone) IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear! IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019
Symptoms? Sciatic nerve pain. Holy crap balls, y'all. I'm pretty sure this kid is trying to paralyze me.
Upcoming appointments? Not until 9/17.
R/R/Q: Can't divulge much. But family issues. And now I'm scared that everyone has forgotten my son's birthday party. It's supposed to be on Saturday. He'll be 3 on the 14th and has been SO excited for his party since my daughter's birthday in July. No one has said anything about it except me in weeks (except my parents who might be bailing for a church thing now) and now with the stuff going on with the other side of the family, I'm worried he'll get put on the back burner.
GTKY: Is there anyone you want to emulate as a parent? Why? Or, is there someone you want to be the exact opposite of? Emulate? No. We kind of strive to be almost completely different from our parents as parents. We're much more tactful then our parents and we are much more gentle and positive with discipline then basically anyone we grew up around.

R/R/Q:
SCH is gone! lol
DD D has officially been potty trained for a week now.
R/R/Q:
Rave: DH has been pretty awesome in regards to being supportive during the pregnancy.
BFP April 24, 2018 | EDD December 29, 2018
R/R/Q:
Rant: pre-existing back pain has been flaring up lately and I have no one but lil fetus to blame!
My wife and I have conceived a babe with my body and frozen donor sperm through IUI, with medication support (clomid, ovidrel, and injections of progesterone)
IUI #1, #2, and #3: Dec 2017, Jan 2018, and Feb 2018 - all BFN
HSG Test: April 2018 - all clear!
IUI #4: April 15/16, 2018 - BFP!! EDD: Jan 7, 2019
1/4
Symptoms?
Sciatic nerve pain. Holy crap balls, y'all. I'm pretty sure this kid is trying to paralyze me.
Upcoming appointments?
Not until 9/17.
R/R/Q:
Can't divulge much.
