Car seat problems!

Hello everyone!
It's my first time posting here, but I really would love to hear your opinions on this, as I'm very divided on it...

So, my baby girl is 4 1/2 months. She's a skinny lady with very long legs. Her car seat is a Brio Primo with a base, like such:



She's recently moved up to the tallest setting on it, but her feet still stick out a ton.... which would be fine if she wasn't getting hurt from it! When shes kicking around her feet hit that half circle shaped thing on the base, and because of it shes scraped both her pinkies really badly. The other day her footed pajamas were all bloody from her little scrapes, poor thing! I've tried covering that plastic thing with a fluffy blanket to protect her footsies, but no matter how careful I am in attaching the blanket, she's always able to get it off in no time, and hurts her feet again. I've tried shoes, socks... She gets them off even faster than the blanket.

We have another chair in storage - a Britax Römer Max Way. My mom thought I should move her to it, and the doctor agreed it might be time... but the age limit for it is 9 months! I'm afraid she's too little for it!

I've tried putting her in it, and she fits very snugly (I'm able to tighten the straps properly), and her head reaches the head support, but I'm still wary of not following the age recommendations.... On the other hand I don't want her hurting herself on her current chair either! Not fun when every car ride ends with bleeding little toes, even if she doesn't seem too bothered. :/

So yeah.... What would you do?
