Twin+ moms?

Any other moms who already have twins or other multiples?? My boys are turning two in a couple weeks and I would love some tips or encouragement for potty training! We started DS1 shortly after he turned two, and 2&3 are showing readiness signs, but I am feeling so not ready to deal with that circus.

Re: Twin+ moms?

  • @kmvisioli I don't have twins but my DD2 will turn 2 on the 23rd and is also showing signs. We try here and there and always have an option of a potty available. She's used it a couple times. Training 2 at once I'm sure will be a challenge. Hopefully they play off each other's successes and encourage each other! I took a super relaxed approach with DD1 and started at 2. She would poop on the potty for a couple months but not pee. Then she stopped altogether. She was finally potty trained the week of her 3rd birthday. But it was all her. I definitely feel DD2 will be earlier. I despise potty training!

  • @molosmiles Thanks! We have a small potty upstairs and one downstairs so they are accessible, but I’m struggling to figure out how to manage the timing with two toddlers (really three since DS1 is only 3) without having pee all over my house lol. They have each had a couple of successes already, but inevitably one is climbing all over me trying to have a turn while the other one is sitting on the toilet, or one gets down and pees on the floor while I’m working with the other one... It’s a bit of a three-ring circus! I would switch to just one at a time, but they both want to try.
  • I would just get multiple little potty's (potties?) . Have them sit at the same time, ateast to start until they really are ready to tell you when they need to go. My DD2 tells me after she's gone. Lol
  • I have two year old twins...one is just naturally curious, goes on the potty during the day, stays dry most nights. My other will not even step in the bathroom! No advice but good luck!!

  • @LauraK33 Thanks! Happy  to meet another twin mama here! And another mom going for another round after twins ;)
  • Y'all are making me nervous for what's to come  with my little ones :/

Between babysitting and now my DSS, I've helped potty train a lot of kids. The most helpful tip I ever got is to let them go to the store and pick out their own underwear. The excitement over the design on them helps motivate them to stay dry. I don't know why it works, but it does.

  • @al_vy that was step one for DS1, and definitely helped. Mostly I think the struggle is really just the logistics of having more than one that needs attention at the same time, but that’s par for the course with twins ;)
