MEASURING 4 WEEKS AHEAD!!

Anyone measuring significantly ahead? Today I had my 32 week appointment and my  obgyn measured me and he was like wow you're measuring right 36 weeks.. and he goes on to say this will be a large baby, although I have a scheduled c section I'm still afraid lol... thank God I went with my gut and bought 0-3 and a limited amount of newborn!!!

Re: MEASURING 4 WEEKS AHEAD!!

  • After I was just sent for a growth scan from my belly measuring 2 weeks behind, but ultrasound measuring 1.5 weeks ahead...I'm not really trusting the belly measurements much...

I wouldn't worry but you can always request they send you for a growth scan just to see estimated weight?

  • Belly measurements mean nothing. I wouldn't stress about it st all.

  • I’m 33 weeks and measured at 38! Have a growth scan in two weeks. Hoping after I will have a plan if it is a big baby. My husband was almost 12 lbs, so I’m bracing for a giant baby!
  • Is my doctor the only one who doesn’t measure your belly? Their perspective is that it isn’t really meaningful and just gets people riled up for no reason. This is my second kid and second doctor at this practice and neither did it.
  • My doctor measures at every visit.
  • @HoosOnFirst nope, I get growth ultrasounds. I've literally never had my belly measured.

  • I'm not relying much on either.. they measure my belly at every appointment but with twins it's pretty much for their entertainment, doesnt tell them much. I've had two growth scans and the anatomy scan and every time they measure way differently the 20w scan they measured 1w6d ahead and the second scan they measured 2w3d ahead and the last scan was 1w3d ahead roughly. I'll believe what size they are when they get here
  •  I go to a high risk specialist so I am measured every time but my daughter was 8lbs 3oz and I always measured big with her so I think they maybe similar in size...
  • I get growth scan all the time and he measured big last time but not 4 weeks ahead he measured 2 weeks ahead
  • My Dr measures some appts but not all. He has yet to tell me what I've measured. He just tells me everything is good.
  • My belly measurements were big by a few weeks. I had a growth scan at 30 weeks that said his head and femur were 2 weeks ago but his stomach was 4 weeks ahead. His estimated weight was 94%. I saw my OB at 32 weeks and she said my belly is still measuring  ahead so we will just wait and check another growth scan at 36 weeks. Belly measurements can be off and US can vary 2lbs in either direction.
  • My OB measures every time but doesn’t tell me the measurement. If there is something wrong she would inform me or schedule me for an ultrasound.
  • I’ve been measuring 40 weeks for weeks now, but I also have twins. I don’t think it’s a good indication of baby size. I’d rely more on the growth scans and even those can be inaccurate. DD measured 6.5lbs the week before she was born and actually weighed 5lbs 13oz.
  • My midwife doesn't do many belly measurements, but I also get growth scans every 2-3 weeks because I'm high risk. She never did many with my other kids either so I assume this is her normal routine.
  • I don't get my belly measured every visit, but last time I did I was measuring on track. However all my ultrasounds since 24 weeks baby has been measuring about 2-3 weeks ahead. They said she might be an overachiever. I am having a RCS so I am not worried about pushing out a big baby, but I am worried about carrying a big baby since I am already so uncomfortable.
  • FWIW - my doc does the measurements but says it’s so dependent on baby’s position and how you carry that they don’t worry about +\- 2 weeks. Outside that range and they do a scan.
  • I went for a growth scan a few weeks ago and was measuring 3.5 ahead.  I got really overwhelmed by it for some reason but my dr was very chill.  Im scheduled for a RCS so it won't impact delivery, and there's no chance they'll push me up earlier based just on this alone (believe me, I asked!)

  • My belly has consistently measured at least 4 weeks ahead since 28 weeks. I had a growth scanlast month to check size and he was measuring 4 weeks ahead and in the 99th percentile. They estimated his weight at 4lbs 9oz. I’m still measuring 4 weeks ahead, so I’m having another growth scan on Friday. The plan is to induce at 39 weeks currently, but if he gets close to 11lbs they will do a csection. My daughter came before my 39 week induction date (8lbs 4oz) and this baby is measuring bigger then she ever did, so I’m kind of hoping he comes a little early on his own.
  • I have been measuring ahead the whole time, but not really concerned. I measured ahead with both of our first two...the first was 9lbs 13oz and the second was 7lbs 2oz. After that i quit worrying about it!  :D
