Round ligament pain question

Is it normal to have constant round ligament pain? I've heard a lot of women say it came and went for them, stayed for a few minutes and was gone here and there. Mine started about 4 days ago, mostly on the right side, super sharp and hasn't gone away yet. It's in my back as well and I can't sleep because of it. I barely can walk if I don't take a Tylenol. My doctor likes to blow off everything I say, so no point in asking him. I tried to tell him about center pelvic pain I've been having since the beginning of pregnancy and he told him it was just my ligaments.. Well, not if they are off to the side like these are! Lol Anyway, if anyone has any insight, please let me know. Thank you!

Re: Round ligament pain question

  • If your doctor is blowing off your question, I'd be looking for a new doctor. It doesn't sound like RLP, but could still be normal. RLP usually happens when you make a movement, like sneeze or get out of bed. It does come and go quickly, within a few minutes. You might just be feeling some general muscle/uterus stretching and the resulting pain associated. If it doesn't go away with tylenol and is keeping you up at night, I'd definitely mention it to a doctor, possibly a new doctor if your regular one dismisses it without any suggestions for minimizing the discomfort.

That's how my pain started when I was pregnant last time with my son.
I had pain in my side / back. It kept getting worse. I went to the doctor and was dismissed saying I probably pulled a muscle. I could barely walk. A day later after sleeping on the couch maybe 2 hours I woke at 6 and couldn't get up from pain. I called my mom to take me to the ER and ended up getting my appendix out hours later.
When pregnant appendix doesn't show the usual signs (pain in lower abdomen / fever) and actually shifts to your side / back and much higher up.
