Jacob? Part of me says "hell yes" and the other part of me wonders how many people are really aware that James is a derivative of Jacob. I have a DS Jacob and am due with a Team Green baby in January. Honesty appreciated, of course.

Thanks, ladies! The idea wasn't to purposely have matching "J" names, James is just a name on our list that I wasn't sure if we should keep. I have another child with an "A" name, so not all siblings would be matching. I honestly didn't know that James came from Jacob either until I was researching the name, but wondered how many other people might be aware.
DH is super picky and has vetoed all the other names on my list (Charles, Maxwell, Sebastian, Henry) and the only one on his list that I will remotely consider is Michael, although I'm an 80's child and may still be a little tired of hearing that name...I haven't decided yet. Also, I am not at all religious and worry about having two biblical names. Choosing boy names is so hard. DS was unnamed for the first day because we couldn't agree.

FWIW it didn't occur to me they were both biblical names either. Jacob yea, but that's not what I think of when I hear James.
We're about to have our 2nd boy and he's ending up with a 4-letter R name like his big brother. It was not done on purpose, it just happens that we ended up loving a second name that happens to be the same letter and same number of letters as DS1. So I totally get stumbling into a "matchy" name that you didn't plan for but end up loving.

Bump stalking you, friend... I had no idea the names James and Jacob were related, and I don't think most people probably do or would think anything of it. I also really like the name Jacob.

I'm going to be completely honest and say the first thing that came to my mind was that song "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt" (I've never actually heard it sang John, only James..) I think the names sounds nice together, just sing songey to me personally
