6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
Ha! My mom asked the other day "if the nursery was painted and ready" and my response was "bahaha, we don't have room for a nursery!" It's true - we're not setting up a nursery in this house at all, it's too small for one, and we're moving out when LO is six months old anyway. Random gifts come in for him, but all we *really* need are

1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
21+2, so waaay past my milestone!
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
I am still having scaitic pain, but other than that I feel good, just large.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I’m anxiously awaiting the results of the cell free DNA blood draw I had done on Monday. I hope baby is ok in there and that the urinary tract dilation is just a fluke.
4. Any appointment updates?
I should have the test results within the week and if everything looks good, I go to my OB 9.11 and ultrasound on 11.5.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
I’m just hoping the attic project that won’t end gets finished this weekend. Fx!
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
I ordered my breast pump last week, so other than some pacifiers, a baby book, and diapers I think we are all set purchase wise!
We just need to get the baby gear and clothes down, wash everything, and set up and install it. I need to get DS’s clothes out of the nursery to make room for baby’s things and raise the crib mattress.
@katy0990 fingers crossed that you get good tests results back!
FTM and so we really don't have much for baby yet except some random items I bought when Babies R Us was going out of business and outfits my family gave me when we announced. Not to mention about 20 stuffed animals. I did finish a registry though since my mom set a date to throw me a baby shower and my crazy aunts who like to have the first pick of everything already bought a bunch of good things off of it.
@katy0990 Sorry you're having sciatic pain! That's the worst! Glad you're otherwise feeling good and so close on your to do list though!
@lippy625 Oh I feel you so much on the sleeping issues. I normally sleep on my stomach with only one thin pillow (or I get neck aches.) Now with the bump and reflux I'm having to sleep on my side, with a bunch of pillows, and my body hates it.
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
25 weeks, 1 day. Well past my milestones, thankfully.
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Okay. Reflux has been worsening again, so I'm about to step up my medication. Otherwise, my pelvic and lower back pain has been surprisingly mild at this point, so I'm thrilled about that. Weight is starting to creep up, so I need to keep a closer eye on diet and exercise, but all in all, not terribly bad.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Feeling good, thanks to tons of reassuring kicks and movement (even if it keeps me up at night sometimes!)
4. Any appointment updates?
Nothing until 28 weeks and the dreaded glucose test (and they'll test my thyroid too.)
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
@echo-charlietango I've actually been thinking about a due date induction as well! I had to be induced with my first just because she wasn't showing any signs and I was at 41+1 (my OB's limit.) This time around, I'm hoping I'll go into labor on my own, second kiddo and all, but if I don't I am strongly considering a due date induction instead of waiting until 41+1 for a couple of reasons - I have experience with a successful vaginal birth in an induction situation, my OB is very patient and doesn't rush to c sections, I know the techniques that seemed to help me the most (patience and a peanut pillow) and I have heard from other ladies who are AMA that nothing good happens after your due date the closer you get to 40 and above and some OBs will automatically induce on your due date if you're AMA. Plus, I'm also a control freak and have a toddler to arrange care for, so knowing the date would be nice.
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
We have been pushing everything we need to do until September, so um, a lot still needs to be done!
-get rid of my husband's desk from our DD's room and replace it with this LO's crib/put crib together
-buy mini crib for our room for the first six months
-buy another car seat
-clean out all of our closets and get rid of any of DD's baby clothes that aren't sentimental or gender neutral enough to be hand me downs for this LO
-buy (SIGH) a new car
-revisit/upgrade toddler proofing and baby proofing our apartment
-buy another camera for our monitor or another monitor altogether
-call insurance to figure out new breast pump
-preregister at the hospital
-get TDAP and flu shot for me, flu shot for DD and my husband
-decide if I'll let my friend throw me a sprinkle for this baby or if I just want to ask some friends for some baby boy clothes hand me downs
-buy any decorative items I want for over LO's crib (I think maybe a dragon mobile? Still deciding!)
-buy whatever's on our registry (just some small things like another munchkin dishwasher safe holder for bottle parts, bottles, stockpile some formula in case I need it, etc.)
-decide if I want to buy a sit/stand stroller or not
-decide if I want to take another infant CPR/choking class or just brush up online
-my husband and I need to take care of our wills and not baby related but I still (still!) need to get a new driver's license/ss card with my official married last name and I'd like to do that before our second child is born! (And we have been married over five years, so I have no excuse, lol.)
@katy0990 I hope you get your results soon! I can't believe you have an appointment scheduled all the way out to November, already. Shit's getting real!
@lippy625 Yay for the dress still fitting! I finished my registry, too. When is your shower?
@maureenmce You weren't kidding! At least your list is pretty organized. Couple of dumb questions- What do we need to pre-register at the hospital for? Also, do OB's not usually do vaccines right there in their office? I know when I go to annual check ups at my PCP, they just tell me whatever vaccines I am due for, and give them to me right there. I was hoping my OB woild just do the same for my TDAP/flu (and would schedule my H's based on when I get mine). We need to create a will, also- and figure out who this LO goes to if we die
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
23+6, well past my loss date.
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
My pelvic/groin hurts pretty bad, still. I'm starting PT next Wed, once a week for 3 weeks. I'm hoping to learn some exercises to minimize the pain. Still tired as always!
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Like everyone, I have stillbirth concerns. But I am actually allowing myself to believe that this may really happen for us!
4. Any appointment updates?
Went to the OB yesterday morning just to get a referral to a PT. Nothing exciting.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Work is CRAZY, but hey, that's job security, so I can't complain too much.
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
Everything. I literally haven't purchased anything yet for this poor kid. As far as the bedroom, we need to remove the TV that's currently mounted on the wall and paint/fill where it was. I have a couple of prints I'm going to order and frame for decor. Obviously we need to buy and set up all the furniture, as well. I also have boxes of clothes that have been given to me, that I will need to wash and sort through once we have a dresser in there. I have a lot to do, and zero motivation to do it.
To answer some of your questions, has your OB giving you the pre-registration packet? It is helpful to have it done and turned in ahead of time, that way they are not coming up to you and asking you questions while you are in labor. At that point you won’t give a sh*t about your insurance card or employment info. Also, I was able to get the TDAP booster in the hospital after DS was born, I would just ask your doctor.
A will is also on my list of things to do. Has anyone talking to their SO about their wishes if god forbid something go wrong during labor? Also on my list because I think H and I have different ideas.
@Hollyyyyy My shower is going to be October 14. I wasn't sure I'd be having one because my old school Italian family grew up believing showers before the baby was born were bad luck but my mom offered to throw one so I'm super grateful and excited that we won't have to buy everything we need before baby arrives ourselves.
@lippy625 I'm glad you are getting a shower! Mine is also going to be in October- I was worried that it would be too early, but with all the holidays around our EDD's, that seems to make the most sense!
@echo-charlietango Eek on the friend’s stillbirth - that’s so terrible
@katy0990 Maybe I missed this, but is the cell free dna test related to the UT dilation? Hope everything’s as it should be.
@lippy625 We plan to have baby in our room with us for the first six months at nights, but I’d still like her to take one of her naps in her crib so she’ll get used to it.
My snoogle issue is that I’m not used to sleeping on my side (or on such a firm pillow) so my left ear gets sore from laying on it. Sounds wussy, but it gets tender.
I’m also going to a wedding next month (but at the end of the month), and my current plan is to see I feel I still fit into a lularoe amelia dress. I ordered a maternity dress from Seraphine and a Kimi and Kaci dress from Nordstrom and didn’t like the way either fit. I guess we’ll see. I’m glad you found an appropriate dress that works for you!
@maureenmce Sorry the reflux is still bothering you so much. I’ve been lucky to have only experienced it a handful of times so far, but it’s no joke (I did figure out that taking my nightly magnesium right before does NOT help me). Good to know about the induction - sounds like I may not have a choice (will be 41 at delivery), but I guess I’ll trust the doctors to do what’s best here.
@Hollyyyyy I got a hospital registration packet when I met with my OB, but they also had them at the hospital tour. I also thought I’d just get tdap and flu shots at my OB’s office - guess I’ll ask about that when I see him next week.
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
22w5d - 11 whole weeks past our latest loss milestone. Next week I’ll have been pregnant twice as long as I ever have before
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Mostly okay - it’s great not being nauseous and only being my usual tired (instead of exhausted). The occasional reflux isn’t fun though.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Okay - but we just saw baby yesterday, so that helps.
4. Any appointment updates?
Fetal echo (for this IVF baby) was yesterday and so far so good (given the info we have right now). This was a relief as our friends’ baby boy who was born last Friday just had surgery to put a stent in his heart, and will have other surgeries in the coming weeks. Next OB appointment is next Friday, but I don’t expect that to be eventful except for the glucose test (just *barely* squeaked by at 12 weeks, so unfortunately I don’t expect this to go well). At least I was able to get my vacation in before the glucose test - ah ignorance
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Came back from babymoon to a bit of actual work this week, which has been annoying, but has made the time go by faster. Vacation was better - I averaged walking 7.5 miles a day last week - which was good because we are a whole lot too! If only I had time to walk like that when not on vacation.
Unrelated, I realized after the Nordstrom anniversary sale ended that they had the Nuna Rava for $375
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
Slowly. We got a lightly used Snoo off of Craigslist (just finally got that associated with our account this week - two months after buying it), several gender neutral elephant outfits to match the nursery (purchased before DH knew she was a girl), and I recently purchased a diaper bag (jujube BFF in a hard to find, discontinued print from a couple of years ago) and a peanut changer (also in a discontinued color from several years ago - had it shipped from Canada - ironically it arrived at home while we were still in Canada) - mostly because I was afraid I wouldn’t find them again. Our next door neighbors who had a little girl back in January have given us a bag full of newborn and 3-6 month old clothes. Our big splurge instead of a glider is an Ekornes Stressless recliner - because the color we want isn’t stocked, we already ordered it to take advantage of a promo that ended early this month and because we were advised it would take 12-16 weeks to come in.
I’m planning on buying a used crib, changing table, and dresser from a friend (their twins are 6 now and they’ve had their furniture in storage for a couple of years). But first I need to clean out the closet in that bedroom/future nursery (I’ve been seriously procrastinating on that), and clean the carpet in there. The same friends may also have a pack and play and a baby bjorn bouncer for us. The neighbor who gave us the clothes has also kindly offered her boppy and a Graco swing/bassinet thingie.
So still lots of things to buy. An Aeroflow inquiry tells me that they can’t ship my breast pump till 11/14 (~5 weeks before due date) according to my insurance rules. I suppose we should actually finalize our registry in case anyone does want to throw us a shower. I feel like it’ll be a struggle to get DH to sit down and go through it. After the losses, I’m sort of irrationally hesitant to have a shower, but acknowledge that we could use help since unlike for our wedding we have almost nothing.

@katy0990 fx for good results this week!
@lippy625 awesome that your dress works! I'm sure it'll look great!
@maureenmce ugh I hope your reflux goes away soon (I feel like I've been hoping that for months), and that your new meds do the trick.
@Hollyyyyy glad you're going to be able to get into pt, I hope it does the trick!
@artemis618 I also feel conflicted about the shower. We need help and stuff, but i just don't feel comfortable in those situations (also didn't have a wedding shower). My friend bullied me into giving her a date for it last week but I haven't done any work since.
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
23+6! Viability Tomorrow!
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Good, struggling with my physical limitations and being tired.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Pretty confident, feeling the baby move a lot really helps.
4. Any appointment updates?
Monday for a regular ob check and I'm assuming she'll give me 'the drink
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
H felt the baby for the first time this week! It's been super fun.
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
Lol. We need to move first. I have a pnp, carseat/system and that's pretty much it. But we can get home from the hospital and lo can sleep in something
@lippy625 I have a wedding to go to on 9/8 too! I’m just wearing a maxi dress I bought several weeks ago. I think it’ll be good enough. Glad yours fits and you’re good to go!
@katy0990 FX everything in your testing looks perfect!
1. How far along are you? Any milestones?
23w4d..No more milestones. Excited that viability is coming up!
2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
I’m feeling pretty good. I can say that I am officially feeling large. Bending over is now a special kind of challenge. Sleep continues to be so/so especially the falling asleep part.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
I’m feeling very calm. This pregnancy for a long time did not feel real and I am now really able to visualize having this baby here with us and I’m getting excited about that. Seems like it’s coming up very soon!
4. Any appointment updates?
Not for a couple of weeks.
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Not much going on this week. Right now DD is being particularly cute so I’m enjoying watching her play. So I guess that’s my rave.
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
Haha..uhhh it’s not. I have done nothing. We are so close to getting this house on the market (hopefully can get an appointment early next week to sign paperwork) and all our concentration has been on that. We also can’t bring a ton of stuff into the house and in fact we moved all the baby stuff to storage. So hopefully we will have a place to live when baby gets here!

2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)?
Ok. Reflux, Sciatica, and Tired. I've had excessive itching on my palms & tops of feet. Just googled & looks like I need to call OB tomorrow.
3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)?
Medium. If the itching is in fact a liver thing, it said it could cause premature or stillbirth so boooooo
4. Any appointment updates?
I have my GD test next TR
5. What's been happening in your life this week? Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here):
Son started 1st grade. Getting used to back to school schedule. Has caused me a few naps this week. lol
6. GTKY: How's baby prep going? What do you still need to do/buy?
I've bought a used stroller, a couple outfits & two lamaze toys. I also put a 4-pack of muslin blankets, hooded towel, 3 pack of bandana bibs & 4-pack of onesies on hold today. So everything else @maureenmce listed? I'm having a shower Oct. 13th, so I can't decide whether to buy a little bit of everything myself or wait til after the shower & see what I still need.
