Re: 2nd Trimester Check-in | w/o Aug 27th *new leader needed*

  • Since next week will be my last week in the 2nd trimester, I'm looking for someone to take over this thread starting next week. Anyone is welcome!!

How far along? 26 weeks 2 days!

Appts this coming week? I have a regular OB check-up on Thursday and then my glucose screening on Friday. Then I'm on to every-other-week appointment! I can't believe how fast the 2nd trimester flew by.

How're you feeling this week? Feeling good. I'm taking this as the calm before the 3rd trimester storm, so I'm enjoying every minute of it!

    Rants/Raves:
DH and I visited Ohio this weekend for my grandfather's birthday. There were so many family members there - it was amazing! Plus, my aunts decided they would throw me a mini baby shower since most of them probably won't make it down for the actual shower. I was so surprised and overwhelmed that I cried basically the whole time I was opening gifts. I love family!!

GTKY: What is your favorite amusement park ride?
Definitely roller coasters. Any kind - I love them all! For me, they really are the most exhilarating. I especially love older wooden roller coasters just because of the history behind them.

I can take it over :) Congrats on almost being in tri 3!!

    How far along? 17 weeks

    Appts this coming week? None

How're you feeling this week? Feeling ok, still very tired and get bad restless legs pretty much all the time.  And I have some GI discomfort going on that kind of feels like braxton hicks/contractions but I'm not 100% sure, it feels different than the BH I had last pregnancy. Is it bad if I'm having them at this point?  I also haven't been feeling baby much at all so have to doppler to hear HB and him moving.  When did everyone start feeling movement and when was it more regular?  I guess since I started feeling sporadic movement starting at like 13 weeks that I thought/hoped that by now it would be getting more regular, not still only every few days and only 1-3 times in those days.

Rants/Raves:  We are going to the cape for a week starting next saturday and my mom called and told me my dad was going to stop by this afternoon after work to talk about what they need to bring.  They're coming for like 2 days...I don't care what they bring, which I already told them.  And he can't just stop by, he needs to call!  My mom was clearly offended when I said this but I have never been OK with drop ins since having a kid.  Maybe this is wrong of me, I think I'm more sensitive to it because we live right next door to my in-lawsMy mom has also been asking me what there is to do around there and it just irks me, look it up!  I am not one to blame hormones but I really think they're making my already normally short fuse even shorter.

GTKY: What is your favorite amusement park ride?  I'm not an amusement ride fan, I don't trust them!

  • Hi! I'm new to 2nd tri :)

How far along? 14w1d, due Feb 24 with a baby boy!

    Appts this coming week?
Wednesday for a basic check up

    How're you feeling this week?
Tired, I think I'm getting a sinus infection. But ok otherwise.

    Rants/Raves:
Super excited to go see my family in Ohio this weekend. I'm doing a mini gender reveal for the nieces/nephew. My family is so super supportive, unlike DH's family who live near us now. It's gonna be great surrounded by so much positivity and love!

GTKY: What is your favorite amusement park ride?
for sure roller coasters. I grew up in NE Ohio. Cedar Point, Geauga Lake and Conneaut Lake Park were all within an about hour drive of me and I became obsessed at a young age :)

@mag1cbeli3ver congrats on making it through 2nd tri!! Good luck with the glucose screening. What are of Ohio were you visiting?

@mayflower513 my in-laws live very close by too, and from the beginning I have made it clear that drop bys are not really welcome. It;s not that we don't wnat to see them, but we'd rather be prepared. I don't think it's wrong of you, it's your house, your life, your decision. They should respect that. Good luck and enjoy the cape!

  • Thanks ladies!
@mayflower513 I didn't really start feeling baby until 24 weeks, and he's not very regular yet, but definitely more frequent. I do have an anterior placenta though, so that has muffled things a lot. I've been having BH for about 6 weeks, so I don't think it's unusual for you to have them already. I've had other GI problems too, though. Constipation cramps were really bad at one point (such intense pain, it was awful) so my OB recommended miralax. Between that and fiber, the pain has gone away. But I still have the BHs.

@halips Welcome to the 2nd trimester! My Ohio family lives in the Lorain/Sandusky area. I've visited Cedar Point many times with them and we went to Geaugua Lake before it closed. I love Cedar Point! I hope you have a great time going to visit your family!

  • @halips
Cedar Point -- I haven't heard that place's name in ages! I grew up in Pittsburgh and it was one of the mainstay vacation/getaway activities. We also had Kennywood there though. I loved roller coasters but last time I went on one, it made me so dizzy that I almost passed out...we're going to Disney in two months though so maybe I'll try one again.
~~ Our Story in Spoiler! TW loss/child~~
    Fall 2012 -- started TTC
Summer 2015 - no BFP yet, labs normal, referred to RE
Fall 2015 - Summer 2016 - Further testing all normal. 3 IUI's -- BFN. Recommended move to IVF. Planned cycle for fall 2016.
September 2016 - Surprise natural BFP. MMC @ 8 weeks. RE expressed confidence that we just needed the 'right' embryo.
    Fall 2016 - Spring 2017 -- Break from TTC
June 2017 - Started IVF; egg retrieval for freeze all cycle. 9 mature eggs retrieved, 5 fertilized. 2 4BB embies on ice.
August 2017 - FET transfer both embies. BFP.  Twin pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound. EDD 4/28/18
September 2017 - Twin B stopped developing; Twin A doing perfectly! Graduated from RE @ 10 weeks
March 2018 - Baby Girl born via C/S due to pre-eclampsia -- strong and healthy!

    TTC #2
    January/Feb 2021 - Freeze-all IVF cycle
    March 2021 - FET of 1 PGS normal female embryo. BFP! Beta #1 156,  #2 472, #3 1241, #4 5268 EDD 12/5/21 - Christmas baby!

"When all is lost then all is found."

  • @mbradfo2 I love Pittsburgh (as an Ohioan, I feel like I shouldn't put that in writing lol) but it's  a great city, and was less than 2hrs from home, so a nice place to visit frequently! Always with a stop in Grove City for shopping along the way... Have fun at Disney, maybe start with a water coaster and work your way up to something like Space Mountain ;)

Rants/Raves: baby boy is being super active one day and quiet another! This emotional rollercoaster is driving me completely nuts! Appts this coming week? Nope! Just had a check up last Friday and all is well. Hearing the heart beat is so reassuring!

How're you feeling this week? Good! No major symptoms right now.

Rants/Raves: Had an amazing time with friends at the Renaissance Festival this weekend! Now time to get my butt in gear to get ready for classes starting next week.

GTKY: What is your favorite amusement park ride? The giant dipper roller coaster at the boardwalk in Santa Cruz, CA. It’s an old wooden coaster from the 20s and a very fun ride.
  • @mag1cbeli3ver How exciting to almost be at the third tri!
@mayflower513 Not sure if this is a real thing, but my acupuncturist thought my restless leg issues might be related to low iron levels.
@halips Welcome to 2nd tri! Hope you have a great time with family.
@prudence9-2 Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow!
@DecemberDoll27 I hear you on the sleep issues! I’ve been switching between our regular bed and our guest bed, but neither is helping much.
  • Appointment went great, it was short and sweet. Baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead based on fundal height. Ohh well! Ahead is always better than behind in my book! Plus it all sounds like a guestimate to me anyway! And I switched doctors! I finally found an OB in my practice that I have good chemistry with! It is not going to matter when it comes to delivery because we will get who ever is delivering that day but I still feel good about trusting this lady with decisions about LO and me.
And I also registered for all in one prenatal class! It is going to be an 8 hour long session on October 27th!
    Feeling very accomplished today!

  • Hi Ladies- sorry I am late this week. Its been crazy at work!

How far along? 15 weeks today!

Appts this coming week? Yes tomorrow- hoping they will do an ultrasound so we can check on the SCH.

How're you feeling this week?  Overall, a little better finally! I got really sick yesterday from lunch (TMI- one of those both ends at the same time sick, it was HORRIBLE) and I got so hot/crampy, i was worried I hurt the baby. Luckily I found the HB last night on the doppler.

Rants/Raves: Just thrilled to be in the second tri and hoping they will let me schedule the A/S at 19 weeks so I can find out the gender right before by my bday.  the last few bdays have been pretty low in this journey, so looking forward to celebrating this year.

GTKY: What is your favorite amusement park ride? I am not a huge amustment park person, but we have lots of waterparks here in WI and i have enjoyed those! I also really like wave pools.

@mag1cbeli3ver- congrats on moving on to the third tri- so exciting!! and also that is awesome you got a little bonus shower!!

@mayflower513- thats awesome that you have felt movement already. I definitely haven't yet, but I know its super early at 15 weeks with my first. I do get how it would be hard to not feel movement after feeling it for a few times!

@halips- good to see you in the second tri! Gender reveals are fun!

@prudence9-2- aww how exciting to have the tour! Do you have plans to have family/friends with you during the birth?

@decemberdoll27- finding an OB you click with is SO nice! So far I have liked everyone I have seen in my practice. I wish we have more control about who we get for delivery, but I realize the nurses are the important part usualy and you don't even get to meet/pick them before :)

@darkstart42- glad you had a good check up and hearing the HB def reassures me too. Did you get to schedule your anatomy scan?

  • @DecemberDoll27 and @prudence9-2 It's awesome that you both had good appointments! I still need to find a baby CPR class. I think that, along with the child birth classes, are all I'm going to take. I may do a breast-feeding class with an LC after-the-fact, but for now I don't want to stress about breast feeding.

@prudence9-2 How was the hospital tour? I hope it made you feel more comfortable about everything!

@JamieH2000 GL with your appointment tomorrow! I hope they do an ultrasound and that your SCH is resolved. I was able to get my AS at 18+5, so hopefully they can get you in for 19 weeks. And I love water parks as well!

  • @JamieH2000 I know what you mean about bad birthdays. Last year on my bday I had the WTF appt after the failure of my third PGS normal embryo  :|

As for birth, I don’t have any family in the US, but I’m hoping that my mom will be able to make it.

@mag1cbeli3ver tour was nice. I really like the facilities that they have there. But it was a little overwhelming for me. And a bit surreal.

They said they try to accommodate everything. And gave an example of birth with a mirror. Ahh. I have no interest to see that side of the delivery. Haha. Can’t believe that some women want that!

  • Hi ladies. I have to apologize for being MIA after intro-ing and ghosting soon after. My anxiety and PTSD has been so incredibly bad that it takes everything I have to just get through the day, sometimes minute by minute, hour by hour. I thought once I hit all these different milestones I'd start to feel better but that hasn't been the case. I'm hoping that hitting viability in a few weeks will at least provide a bit of relief. My therapist is good, and DH tries, but I'm still struggling. I know it seems completely counterintuitive, but I've almost felt better trying to blend into the "normal" fertile population on the BMB and discuss benign things like which blankets to buy in order to take my mind off the constant IF/PGAL anxieties. I dropped out of my PGAL group too just to get a break from the reminders. I was hoping to enjoy this pregnancy much more after all the struggle, and am really sad that I'm in this constant state of panic instead of enjoying the good fortune I've had so far this time around. Anyway, all that being said, I do like cheering on all you other ladies who have not had an easy road and it does make me feel more at ease to know I'm not alone, so I will try to be better at participating :)

@mag1cbeli3ver Wow, just a couple more weeks left and then you'll be in the home stretch! Super exciting!
@mayflower513 I have bad RLS and charlie horses even when not pregnant, but they get worse in pregnancy. One major cause of both is a magnesium deficiency so my doctor has me on magnesium supplements before bed (turns out I was magnesium deficient!). I have zero issues now after being on the supplements! Also, eat a banana a day for the potassium which will help too. Bonus is that magnesium helps with insomnia, constipation, and headaches. Talk to your doctor about the amount they recommend you take.
@prudence9-2 Glad your appointment went well and the hospital tour was good, albeit overwhelming. I got a crotchety nurse who wouldn't let me ask any of the questions I wrote down, so hopefully yours went better!
@DecemberDoll27 Not being able to sleep is the worst. No advice here because I haven't figured it out yet, just sympathy. Also right there with you on the constant anxiety. One day at a time is what I keep telling myself.
@halips I also grew up close to amusement parks and am a certified rollercoaster junkie!
@darkstar42 One of my favourite coasters is an old wooden one too. I don't know how my insides don't end up on the outside every time I ride it, but it's a blast!
@JamieH2000 My OB had me move my A/S up to 18+3 because I was having anxiety about my cervix. He said anytime mid-18 weeks+ is fine. Hopefully you can get yours in before your bday.

  • How far along? 21+3

Appts this coming week? None. I have a placenta doppler next Tuesday and an OB appointment on Wednesday.

How're you feeling this week? Emotionally, see post above. Physically, it's hit or miss day by day. One day I'll barely feel pregnant and the next I hobble around like a 90 year old lol! My lower back and hips are killing me. I have problems with them while not pregnant so I guess everything's just feeling extra right now. Still get on and off crampy feelings that make me nervous - some of it I think is GI-related, some I think is RLP achiness, and some is probably the stretching, but I still worry every time I am sore in the pelvic area because it's hard to discern what is ute and what isn't. Insomnia is kicking my butt. Still have random nausea and gagging here and there.

Rant: I have to miss my annual family reunion this weeked. I still haven't told anyone in my family I'm pregnant, partly because of how unsupportive they were of my losses and partly because of my anxiety, so I'm not comfortable announcing yet. But the reunion is one of my favourite days of the year so I'm super upset to miss it. Hoping once I hit 3rd tri I'll feel OK to announce, I just have to figure out how to keep avoiding everyone until then since I can no longer hide the belly....

GTKY: What is your favorite amusement park ride?  ALL the rollercoasters!!!!! And I know it's not a ride, but my inner child still requires a bag of cotton candy during every park visit hahaha!

  • @tosh24 thank you, I’ll ask about the magnesium at my next appt in a couple of weeks.  I’m sorry you’re feeling anxious, I can totally relate.  I feel EVERYTHING and it all freaks me out.  I’m nervous about my cervix too bc of how much pressure I feel all the time.  Do you have a history to add to the normal nerves?  I also don’t feel much movement so that doesn’t help - are you feeling any of that?  Acupuncture really helped with my anxiety last time I went... she did moxa and I felt so odd but definitely more relaxed.

  • @prudence9-2 - I really hope your mom is able to make it and be with you!

@tosh24- I am sorry you are dealing with anxiety... its totally justified in all of our experiences, but doesn't make it any easier to cope with. I'm sorry you have to miss your family reunion, but by this time next year you will have a chubby baby to share with everyone!

So today I had my OB at 15+1. Did a scan in the room with the portable machine and baby looked great. However, I told the OB about the problems I have been having with being able to pee and emptying my bladder and having to go alot. She then did a cervix check for "incarcerated uterus". Since my uterus is retroverted, I am at higher risk for it and essentially the uterus is trapped in the pelvis and can't pop out. She couldn't rule it out, so she is calling MFM tomorrow. If I can't pee at all, she saids I need to go to the ER for a catheter. I'm hoping MFM will have me come in tomorrow. Of course I freaked myself from google, but it sounds like if they catch it early, they can manually move the uterus up, or if needed, do surgery to move it up. My OB said not to worry, but of course I am. Apparently this condition is very rare (1 in 3000) and she has only seen one case before. Any one know more? Appreciate any good vibes you can send!

  • @prudence9-2 and @mayflower513- thanks ladies!  My OB talked to the MFM and they weren't too concerned yet since there is still time for this to resolve naturally. They want me to do the knee to chest position (like childs pose) for 10 mins three times per day. They are most concerned if I can't go to the bathroom, in which case I need to go to the ER for a catheter. I go back next week and probably weekly until the uterus pops out of the pelvis. I'm just a little bummed since I was finally starting to feel less anxious in the second tri and now just something else. But I will keep using my doppler and glad they will keep seeing me alot. They did have me come in for a urine culture, but I have had two UTIs already and I dont think I have one. Its more like physical pressure. So just hoping the exercises work and baby will pop out soon!
