We are going to the zoo/zoo concert with MIL & step-FIL. I was excited about it when we got tickets, but now I’m tired and wish it wasn’t today! This was a rough week at work. At least the wildfire smoke & heat is gone and it feels like a cool, autumn day. A nice day to be outside.
@tumbleweed-1 I am so very ready for fall. we are on our way to my nieces 6th birthday party. It’s mermaid themed (a pool party) and there will be a caricaturist and food truck. My SIL loves to plan a party and is a little extra , but I’m happy to cash in at their benefit lol
Wait wait wait @Jens_Hoes the 6th birthday is mermaid themed with caricatures AND a food truck?! Sweet baby jesus that's a lot. Does your SIL plan bigger parties each year? Are they saving up for teenage years already? I'm sure it'll be a blast, that just sounds like too much for a 6th bday IMO - ps, my kid is going to think we're real poor because I seriously doubt that I would do anything similar.
Today we had early breakfast at the deli down the street, then went downtown for dragon boat & paddle board races (just watching). I might fold the clean laundry later today...maybe. Tomorrow = nothin'
I just had a biscuit w/gravy - 7am is just too early for me to eat a meal. DH super loved his big breakfast though, and the cheese grits were tasty.
Paddle boards started at sunrise. We left after the dragon boats started around 10am, it was getting hot and we forgot sunscreen. Also we didn't plan on being there all day. Had fun though!

This weekend I’ve been working, my oldest has been spending the last of her summer break with her grandparents, and tomorrow we are going to the baby show!!!
I also am enjoying my first pumpkin spice latte of the season and looking forward to cooler weather
@faith0222 pumpkin spice is back already?! Let me get back into my basic white girl aesthetic, haha. But seriously, it’s more appropriate for me to drink a pumpkin latte than a pumpkin ale (I’ll be sad when I start seeing those, at least SO doesn’t like pumpkin beers so he won’t be bringing any into the house unless it’s for me to build a stash for later!)
@Jens_Hoes That sounds like an awesome party! But much like you, I couldn’t drop the cash on something like that, nope.
DH and I just did some chores around the house this morning and went and joined a gym. The childcare area there was SO AWESOME! DD didn’t want to leave. She’s napping now and I’m making food for a BBQ we’re going to later. Tomorrow, a Rockies game with my Dad!
@echo-charlietango she always finds good deals for everything and doesn’t get stuff just to get it. The food truck was $12 per person and I think they did it partly for convenience because then one of them isn’t cooking burgers and hot dogs. For her daughters 4th birthday party in May is was circus themed and she had a balloon animal person, face painter and a very small petting zoo. Just a few hundred total for all three. She owns a tent and borrows chairs and tables so it’s really not that expensive when you think of what people pay to have parties and places. She also enjoys party planning so she finds cheap decorations and makes everything nice.
You guys, it's a gosh darned miracle. I turned on my computer because I couldn't wait until Monday to see if it had sustained any water from its afternoon tea yesterday and IT WORKS PERFECTLY. This, after H told me I could get a new MacBook to make up for how crappy this year has been with him spending every free moment ignoring us and working on his dissertation. But it's alright. I really wasn't looking forward to losing all my data, filing the insurance claim, and paying for a new computer.

@PensiveCrayon I feel you on that article. I'm risk averse at baseline so dont do anything crazy but it's the principle of things! If it's rude to say to not pregnant people, it should be rude to say to pregnant women
Hmm the app likes to cut out my second paragraphs - just adding that I need to go through my clothes that I don't fit into and maybe get some maternity clothes. I've been getting away with wearing loose dresses but it's getting harder.
@hannelorre Goodness, I needed maternity clothes in the middle of the first trimester! My body got wide real fast. Widening boobs, ribcage, and hips - boom.
@PensiveCrayon Happy that your computer survived its spot of tea! I’ll have to tell you about my most recent MacBook It involves a deployment, declined cards, conference calling Al Udeid, looming deadlines and a near-freak out in an Apple Store.

@echo-charlietango I guess everyone’s body has a different timetable. I switched to maternity stuff later this time than last, but it doesn’t seem to be any consistency. For example, last week I conceded my regular work pants needed to be swapped for maternity, but I’ve been wearing maternity jeans and leggings since maybe 14 weeks. And I’m still wearing mostly regular blouses and dresses to work, but had to start using bra band extenders over a month ago.
AFM I took DS to a farm today and he loved seeing the animals, tactics, and forklifts carrying corn. This evening, we went to a yummy dinner with my husband’s friend. Now, MH and his friend are out celebrating his 30th and I’m enjoying the quiet house snd fighting the urge to fall asleep.
My parents are in town, and DH is working mornings. I spent yesterday with my mom and we took the kids to the zoo. Then we picked up lunch to bring over to my dad at my brother and SIL’s (they have a 6 week old baby who is the cuuuuuuuutest). Then we went home and putzed around the house. Much knitting was done.
Mom and and Dad are going to leave this morning, kids are watching cartoons. I’ve got to keep them sane until the pool opens at 11, and then DH will meet us over there. I’ll go for a run, maybe a bit of a swim, and then ditch DH and kids to run some errands. Last Sunday at the pool most likely, since we’ll be out of town next week. I’m a little sad!
@runrinserepeat I’m sorry about your a/c. I hope it’s an easy fix! I’m so sad about our pool closing, too. Summer goes by so fast and although, I’m very excited for fall, I’m sad to see the carefree summer slip away.
Our real estate guy is coming tomorrow to see our house and sign paperwork (whaaaaaat??) so that means I’m cleaning all day. I was supposed to go out with some people tonight but I think I’m going to bail because it’s going to end up being too late for DD. Usually I go food shopping on Sunday and I have no idea how I’m going to as DH has to work tonight! Bah!
Hardcore nesting going on over here. I went through 2 closets and a bunch of cabinets yesterday. WAY over did it. My back and neck are killing me. But I got rid of so much stuff and made space! I LOVE throwing things away!
@lexidawg yay that's such a good feeling to see clean closet! Hope you feel less sore soon though!
@echo-charlietango I've been told by my midwife that my long torso is to blame for my lack of bump. I've been in the awkward bloat stage for last 2 months
@hannelorre@echo-charlietango@Katzalia I still can wear my pre-pregnancy jean shorts at 25 weeks because my bump is pretty high and mostly in front. I'm totally not buying maternity shorts since they got me through this far. I can still wear my pre-pregnancy jeans too (well, not the super skinny ones, but the regular ones) though they give me a bit of a muffin top at this point. I have a lot of looser fitting tops that I should be able to continue wearing for weeks too. I got a bunch of maternity stuff and haven't really needed it yet, though I have to admit those leggings are damn comfortable.
My husband had a friend from out of town visiting this weekend so we hung out with him -- played Settlers with the seafarers expansion pack, which we've never done before. That was fun. Then I went to a HH for my PhD program The intention was to meet the new students, but only one showed up. Then I volunteered at cooking class. I didn't get home until 12, couldn't find parking, and was exhausted and in a bad mood and now I am sick. I'll probably be lazy at home all day today.
AFM, I just spent an hour and a half looking for my phone. Of course the ringer was off so I was listening for vibration with ringing. Finally found it at the back of DD’s closet. I had set it down while putting away the suitcase she gof out and packed last night. I was running around organizing for a day trip and doing a million things so it was not at all obvious where it was.
I also bailed on the planned daytrip after walking a block and having RLP so bad it took my breath away while doing a slow easy walk. I couldn’t imagine enjoying the day on a walking-intensive day trip while dealing with that with every step of the way. So DH and DD are out on an adventure together.
I’m going to log in and do some work, do a bunch of laundry, and go grocery shopping.
@kadeephd I am jealous of your not needing maternity clothes. I’ve defintely had to make the switch with shorts and most shirts. I have two pairs of work pants that still fit but the others don’t. I had to buy some a couple weeks ago and will start wearing them this week.
@Katzalia Sorry about the RLP! It is such a pain. I haven’t gotten it as much running this time as last time but I get it if I move a certain way, cough, turn, etc. It’s ridiculous but I’m thankful it’s not constant at the moment.
AFM We are on our way home from FL, we have like 8.5 hours left. We’ve already stopped a handful of time so I could pee and sonzdS could pee. Our ETA is now 1.5 hours later than when we left this morning. We likely won’t get home until after 11-11:30 and I’m supposed to work tomorrow! I get up at 4 when I go into the office so I likely will be working from home. Yikes.

@katy0990 and @AdorkablePixie thanks. I’m sorry to miss out but would be sorrier still to be there and be grumpy from the constant RLP. I remember last time there was a couple week period where it was bad, and then got much better again. Hoping that happens soon.
@AdorkablePixie sorry your trip back is taking so long. Good you have the option to work from home!
@katy0990 Yes!! It was so nice and relaxing. It was wonderful to be able to spend a whole week with just DH and DS with no work or places we had to be.

@adorkablepixie I hope the drive goes smoothly and am glad you had a good tirp. I don't think my shorts and jeans will hold out much longer so I'll be joining you in the maternity stuff soon.
@Katzalia@katy0990 Thanks! It's just my throat & fatigue right now so I'm hoping it's a mild cold.
@katzalia Wow that is some intense RLP. Glad you made the decision to avoid the walking trip.
On the way back from maine; about 90 mins till home! Vacation is lovely, but I'm ready to get back to my house and my bed gonna get home, tbd for dinner, try to catch up on your weeks (I missed you guys lol), then back to the grind tomorrow!
We’re probably going to wait until next summer on the ac... it’s just not a necessity right now and it’s not an expense we planned on. I’ll feel better waiting to fix it once I don’t have maternity leave looming.
