If your pets were people and had a backstory, what would it be? I know this is a weird question but I feel like all pets have different personalities. I like to think if they were human what their lives would've been like. Am I the only one?
We have two rescue pups with two VERY distinct personalities.
Our one mutt (seriously, her DNA test could only account for 37% of her - the rest was too mixed to tell!) is a mix of Lucille Bluth and Angela from The Office. She doesn't have time for anyone unless they can give her something she wants (food or a walk). She is the Queen of Side-eye and a total priss. She only wants affection on her terms and is not a fan of cuddling. She's the smartest dog I've ever met and swear she'd be a rich, divorced cat lady if she was a person.
Our other mutt is the exact opposite. He revels in kisses and attention, is a total dope, and is a spitting image of Eyore especially when he sits. He "chases ghosts" in that we never know what in the world he's chasing. We're still unsure of his backstory.
My cat: she would be a truck driver that smokes a pack a day and has drinking problem. She would have a southern drawl (but not like a charming southern belle, more rough and raspy). When she was young she'd like to go hunting while drinking a 40 from a paper bag and didn't have any interest in men. She'd sit on her front porch in her underwear and shout incoherently at people walking by. She'd be retired by now and complains about her diabetes but still eats as much pie as she wants.
Dog 1: She's an obese, youngish grandmother at a table at the Golden Corral sitting with her 5 children and 13 grandchildren. She's holding a baby with a bottle propped up under her chin while shoveling meatloaf and mashed potatoes in her mouth. She got married at 19 and was happy to be a homemaker, never really wanted a career. She's really sweet and has everyone over for Sunday supper.
Dog 2: He's an old man at the retirement center who just wants to sit in his easy chair and watch his shows. He doesn't want anyone bothering him and shouts at the orderlies when they try to help him to the dining room for dinner. He used to be very handsome in his youth, charmed everyone he met, and was an athlete. He likes to remind you of that while you change his colostomy bag.
For reference: I have an old diabetic cat that used to be quite wild and spunky when she was young, an old dog that's fat and really sweet and easy-going, and an old paralyzed pure bred miniature dachshund who also suffers from blindness, deafness, and dementia. He is still handsome, despite being an old man.
Dog (a 10 year-old pittie mix) is a 60 year-old woman who dyes her hair too dark and wears Chicos clothing. She super kind and wants to please everyone/help everyone; always driving people to doctor's appointments and the store. She has a southern accent and always sounds slightly worried, like she's concerned she's bothering you. She's also super anxious about things that can't really be changed, and texts you about being careful with everything you do. She's basically my mother-in-law.
People think we become mothers when we give birth but the truth is we become mothers the moment we start calling our babies to us in our thoughts, dreams and prayers. Some paths are short and some are so long that you can easily forget where you were headed.

Our dog, a 3 year old border collie / sheltie mix is 100% Michael from the office. He thinks he is smarter than everyone, needs constant attention, desperately wants to be loved and praised for the most basic tasks and comes up with some really bad half baked ideas that never go well.

Not trying to be a downer but this really makes me miss our dogs, but....I’ll respond as if they were still living bc I love this! J - my original owners thought I’d be a great hunter but I’m a lover of life, hates loud noises, so please love me for the calming person I am. I will cuddle you until we die!!! S - I was loyal to you from the beginning, I may not like the others you brought around (J) but I love you unconditionally, and wish I would’ve been around for Aubrey, bc I would’ve loved her.
My cat - Shes an independent woman, a boss chick for sure. Life runs on her time and that's that. She was the youngest of 8 and had to make her own way. No one and nothing stands in her way. She doesn't have kids but has a live in nephew who she raises as her own.
DHs cat - Above mentioned nephew. He's the definition of a bad boy. He's charismatic and a heartbreaker for sure. He doesn't take no for an answer. He has an anger issue. Throwing things is not out of the question if he isn't pleased.
Dog - Hes the boy next door. Hes not very bright, but you cant help but love him. He was the HS quarterbacks right hand. He couldn't get into college but makes an honest living running the local grocery. One day he just might convince the gril of his dreams to take a chance on him....
@lulu1180 I recite my cat's backstory to her all the time. I've always called her my little truck driver. I think it's because, for a cat, she never had the grace or elegance you expect from a feline, she has a raspy and loud meow, and she was a fierce hunter. Something about her just screams Kentucky back woods hillbilly. Truck driving would be her best occupation.
And the dogs, lol... if you met Sadie you'd totally see a maternal granny in her! She's a beagle dachshund mix and her beagle personality really shines through. She's so gentle and sweet-natured. Never growls or snaps or anything no matter how hard you provoke her.
Barrett is a 2.5yo Cardigan Welsh Corgi who is basically a (nice) frat bro. He’s handsome, likes attention from everyone, likes everyone he meets (dog and human alike), enjoys being active/outdoors. Pretty dumb. He also likes food and crashing on the couch/bed.
