1. Weeks/size of baby? 24+5/cantaloupe 2. Feeling? Good, but really tired. Blaming it on this cold + pregnancy. My boobs have been sore the last few weeks. Also a little RLP, but nothing too bad. 3.Appts? One yesterday- awaiting glucose results. I hate that test. Baby is doing well though! 4. I need to brag that my baby (2 y/o) is starting to potty train. He wore underwear to daycare yesterday. It’s the cutest! He’s doing a good job. 5. In the 90s I was in middle and high school. The first thing that comes to mind is probably the music of the 90s or the bad clothes.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 weeks today! The app says 13-5 inches long and between 1.5-2.5 lbs. They took some measurements at my ultrasound yesterday and his feet are about 2 inches long, which seems huge!
2. How are you feeling?
Good despite being stuck in the hospital. Just wishing time would move a little faster. This pregnancy was already dragging along, but it's 10x worse now. Baby had a marathon kicking session in the middle of the night last night. I could not believe how hard he was kicking me. No more cute little taps, this was actually almost painful.
3. Any appointments this week?
Had my weekly date with the TV ultrasound yesterday.
4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
Starting to insurance statements and hospital invoices for everything. They only include up until the first few MFM visits, and my head is already spinning. We're gonna hit our deductible and out-of-pocket max pretty quickly.
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
I turned 13 in 2000, so I was a pure 90s child, and it was amazing. My fondest memories are playing outside every day we could during the summer, spending full days at the community pool with the speakers blasting top 40 90s music, and watching Stick Stickly on Nickelodeon.
@Activebaby way to go to DS for potty training!! @hkom I can't imagine how slow time must be passing for you now. Hopefully this will be the last week for you in there!
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25+2. Size of a baseball glove
2. How are you feeling? Pretty good. Heartburn has made it's appearance. Along with shortness of breath and RLS.
3. Any appointments this week? Nope - nothing until Sept 5th now. Then I'll have my first OB apt and do my glucose test the following week.
4. Rants/ raves/ questions? I just got my requisition for my 32 week ultrasound. I'm excited to see baby again but it's annoying because I'm starting a new job and I hate to ask for time off. Plus DH can't make it which sucks,
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind? 90's I was totally rocking colored leggings, some questionable shirts, scrunchies and eating all the delicious snacks like fruit roll ups and dunk-a-roos while listening to some sweet CD's! I miss the 90's!
@hkom I've been having some nearly painful kicking sessions lately too. It's reassuring, but it's going to start keeping me awake if it keeps up.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?
24+4, cantaloupe
2. How are you feeling? Not too bad. I have heartburn pretty regularly and my back is bothering me, especially on long trips. I also sometimes get cramps.
3. Any appointments this week? Just had my 24 week this morning and it went fine. It was pretty boring actually, but luckily there was relatively little waiting. All they did was take my blood pressure, weigh me (up almost 8 pounds since the last appointment but they didn't scold me) and listen to the heartbeat on the doppler. They also gave me glucola to drink before my 28 week appointment.
4. Rants/ raves/ questions? We have been out of town every weekend the last five weekends in a row, and all of them involved more than 10 hours in the car. I am over driving. We are sticking around DC for the next while which will be a nice change of pace.
5.
GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think
of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Hmm tamagotchis, jelly shoes, boy bands, running around the neighborhood and woods with a pack of kids. I was born in 87 so most of my childhood was in the 90s. They were pretty great.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 + 2. I don't even know. I feel like a terrible STM. I was on like four different pregnancy apps last time around and now I don't even check anything lol
2. How are you feeling? Good. Other than my dramatic weight gain, restless legs and back pain I'm doing ok.
3. Any appointments this week? Nothing again until 9/6. The Saturday after that I'll be going for my GD screen. I'm surprised so many people have done it already. My OB office said it had to be done between 27-28 weeks.
4. Rants/ raves/ questions? Nothing really. I just can't believe we are like 2 weeks away from third trimester. How did that happen?
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Similar to @hkom I turned 13 in 2000. So I grew up in the 90's. I'm loving everyone's answers. Nick at Night, fruit roll ups, fruit by the foot. Running around the neighborhood being hooligans. None of this social media internet crap. Fanny packs, slap bracelets. Pogs!
@activebaby Toddler's are so cute in undies! Take pictures to look back on! Also, fx for good glucose results! @hkom Yes at the painful baby kicks. Last night I wanted to put him in time out already, lol! @kristah2 I can't recall if there is a reason you're getting a 32 week ultrasound?
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25w2d
2. How are you feeling? Now that I'm over my stomach virus, I'm feeling much better! Dealing with some pregnancy insomnia, but such is life.
3. Any appointments this week? Nope!
4. Rants/ raves/ questions? We bought paint for the baby's room; we gotta get on that soon. I feel like we are so slow going this time around, lol
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind? I was 6-16 in the 90's. I was really involved in my church youth group in jr high and high school so I have great memories of doing stuff with all my church friends.
@texas_t I have to go to check out the placenta. It's low lying right now so they want to see if it's moved on it's own so I can figure out my birth options. Right now with low lying placenta and breech baby it's looking like a repeat csection but lots of time for change! You're ahead of me by buying paint! We just moved DS into his big boy room so next step is to get the nursery done!
@texas_t I had an ultrasound at 34 weeks last time to make sure everything was looking good and checking on size I believe. But my SIL's who go to a different practice didn't have any ultrasounds after the a/s until they were overdue.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 weeks 3 days, baby is as big as a head of cauliflower!
2. How are you feeling?
Feeling good, actually. Nothing really going on except for insomnia.
3. Any appointments this week?
Nope - OB appt and glucose screening next week.
4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
It's raining today and I love it! Gloomy, rainy days are usually my favorite (I'm not a depressing person, I promise)! They just make me wanna snuggle with my puppy all day, under a blanket, watching scary movies and drinking tea.
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
I love reading everything you ladies have mentioned so far! Totally remember the dunk-a-roos @kristah2, the pogs @Jens_Hoes, and pretty much everything @kadeephd mentioned! Also adding some of the best Disney movies ever (Aladdin, Beauty & the Beast, Mulan, Toy Story, Lion King), boon doggle, girl scouts, and just generally loving life! (things were so much easier back then! lol!)
Me: 33, DH: 41 Started IF Feb. 2014 PCOS & MFI (low sperm count and motility) 3 Femara cycles w/natural intercourse over summer 2014, BFN 1 Clomid cycle w/natural intercourse Nov. 2014, BFN IUI March 2015, BFN IUI June 2015, BFN IUI Oct. 2015, BFN IVF Oct. 2016, fresh transfer, 2 day-3 embryos, BFN; nothing to freeze IVF Nov. 2017, fresh transfer, 2 day-5 blasts, BFP; ectopic; 1 blast frozen FET March 2018, 1 day-5 blast, BFP!
@jens_hoes I've read that practices do it 24-28 weeks! Also, with DS1 I had an US around 37 or 38 weeks to see how big baby was because I was measuring ahead. I just couldn't remember is kristah had an issue or not!
@kristah2, @Jens_Hoes is it bad that I still love fruit roll-ups/fruit-by-the-foot? @kadeephd OMG tamagotchis! I wanted one SO BADLY when they came out but we couldn't afford it (yes, they cost like a dollar but I grew up in Ukraine and a dollar was a lot of money). Around the same time, those little pencil trolls became popular and I got one of those by asking grandma for money. It was the absolute best!
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25+3, cauliflower or a prairie dog (what a truly "Canadian prairies" reference!)
2. How are you feeling? Pretty good, didn't sleep well last night and I think it's becoming more common.. I am glad it's only starting now because I think others have been dealing with it for longer, but I feel grumpy and unmotivated, which sucks.
3. Any appointments this week? Maternity Clinic appointment this week - will get a referral to get the GD test done but otherwise pretty standard.
4. Rants/ raves/ questions? What are some essentials for the baby's room? We have the crib (with attached changer) ordered, we have a place to store clothes, and I want to get a glider, but otherwise the room is going to be pretty bare.. I was thinking I would love one of those teepees - I think they are adorable. But I probably need some type of dresser or table beside the glider, right? To make it easier for feedings? Or maybe one of those portable cart things to keep all of the essential feeding/diapering supplies?
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Grew up in Ukraine, so.. We played a lot outside, built blanket forts, etc. I remember Brittany Spears and the Spice Girls becoming popular (funny story - I was convinced it was supposed to be "Space" Girls because we learned the word "space" in school).
@ab_canada agreed with table next to glider! I still used mine when DS switched to bottles and would be able to lay it there before putting him to bed. Also good idea to keep a snack and bottle of water there. I use a book shelf. DS got A LOT of books so I used it for that and then on the top it had a lamp and humidifier on it.
Mostly good - I agree kicks are becoming “annoying” rather than cute. Girl is getting stronger! Random Braxton Hicks continues and can really be intense for a few seconds.
3. Any appointments this week?
Not this week!
4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
I have moments where I am so happy I’m pregnant and then later it’s like a weird how is this my body freak out feeling? Lol. I can’t believe she’ll be here in about 3 more months!!
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
I LOVE the 90’s!!! I was 6-16 in the 90’s and started driving in 1999. I had an amazing, happy childhood so I think of that and how lucky and happy I am. Love everyone’s answers: Disney movies were the best in the 90’s! Kriss Kross, Eastland shoes, Levi’s Silver tag jeans, Keds, Jelly shoes, Steve Martin’s, Dr. Martens, AOL 1.0! Ha!
@countrygirl624 I know what you mean about alternating between happiness over the pregnancy and then a weird freaked out feeling. It feels like my body is going rogue and is no longer my own. My mom's dog had puppies recently and those little guys sucked the life right out of her. She is so skinny (despite being fed constantly) and lost a bunch of hair. I'm sure she will bounce back, but seeing her like that was sobering.
25 weeks today! Cauliflower size, which sounds absolutely gigantic and uncomfortable, ha.
2. How are you feeling?
Okay. Been getting nauseous in the mornings again and figuring out that it's because I need to eat more and sooner, but I never have any hunger cues, so that's annoying. Reflux has started to suck again, as of last night, so I think I may switch to the medication I was saving for the third trimester soon.
3. Any appointments this week?
Nope! Nothing until my 28 week appointment three weeks from today (the dreaded glucose test, and some thyroid testing, blah.) I'll also get to schedule all the rest of my appointments for this pregnancy while I'm there, so that'll be exciting!
4. Rants/ raves/ questions?
I keep alternating between being eager for this baby to be here (and eager to no longer feel so uncomfortable) and being freaked out that I have SO much left to do. Even though this is a second baby, we have accomplished very little on our to do list, including getting our two bedroom apartment ready for a second kiddo, which is going to be an undertaking. I also have a ton of creative projects I want to finish, but I realistically will not be able to tackle those much until I'm done with work.
5. GTKY - What were you doing in the 90's? Alternatively, when you think of the 90's, what is the first thing that comes to mind?
I was a 90's kid/teen! I turned 10 in '90 and 20' in 2000, so I experienced and remember basically all of the 90's pretty well, so it's hard to pick one particular thing!
@ab_canada Baby room essential wise, we have a crib, dresser that folds out into a changing table on top (from Ikea, I love it), a small, four part cube for toy storage (also Ikea), a glider (we use the top of the cube as a "table" since it's arm's reach from the glider) and then I bought a little three tier organizer thing to go next to the glider. When DD was an infant, that's where I kept my snacks and nursing accessories. One thing to remember, even if it seems bare now, is that it may fill up with things like a play mat, a swing, a bouncer, etc. I think bare minimum wise, as others have said, you'll want a glider with some kind of small side table, a dresser with some kind of changing table option, a crib and some sort of shelving or organizer for toys/books.
