edited August 2018 in December 2018 Moms
Hey, I'm curious. Where is your baby's snack sack primarily located?

Re: Placental Placement Poll

  • I have no idea!  Is this something they normally share with you during your A/S?  I just assumed wherever it was posed no problem since no one mentioned it.  I didn't ask.

I have my third anterior placenta - sucks you can't feel much or not till much later!I think they only mention if you have anterior and have had c-sections before to make sure it doesn't grow into the scar.

  • I’m making assumptions that it’s posterior, because of all the movement I can feel. Nobody’s actually told me.

They didn't mention it at my regular scan, but they told me at the MFM one.

  • @texas_t that would be...a new one

I’m a Speshul Snoflyke, apparently. Mine is off to the side — the tech called it “fundal”

  • I was told anterior but also right over the cervix. Can it really be both?
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lexidawg I think it can wrap, because it’s so big. So like part of it could be over the cervix wrapping to the front

  • Assuming posterior cause I haven't heard differently....
  • @PensiveCrayon Mine was fundal at my ultrasound last week. When I had to go into a follow-up to get baby's foot and heart pictures, it was posterior.... so the two different scans saw different things. Thus, why I chose posterior on the poll when fundal wasn't an option. So, I have no clue which it actually is!

  • @PensiveCrayon Thanks. That makes sense. I'll be asking more at my AS on Monday.

  • @PensiveCrayon @omnommer I hadn’t heard of fundal being an option - i’ll See if I can edit the poll on desktop, I can’t on mobile :grimace:

  • @lexidawg my last pregnancy I had a partial placenta previa. Mine ended up shifting to be an anterior placenta by the time he was born.

  • @westcoastfoodie Did it take until the end of your pregnancy? My doc is not concerned since I have to have a csection but I would like to come off of pelvic rest!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @lexidawg if I remember correctly it was around this time last pregnancy that they told me it had moved, I believe at my AS scan. When I was put on pelvic rest I was told a high percentage of the times it resolves itself and shifts, so hopefully yours has and you can get off pelvic rest!

  • I asked during my a/s where it was because it was anterior last time. She said "no, it's here at the bottom. I said "oh no, previa?" And she said no. So I am assuming posterior?
  • @westcoastfoodie Thank you! I am hoping that's the case too. I'll know Monday!

  • Snack sack   :D  too good!

this is my first out of 4 where it’s anterior!! It was definitely annoying having to wait so long to feel him, but now I’m feeling him all the time so I guess all is forgiven.

  • Posterior, with a marginal cord insertion.

    My daughters' were both anterior.

    We're having another GIRL!!  <3

  • They told me yesterday that mine is in front, but she acted like that was a really odd question and I asked a lot of questions, so I didn’t probe further. I have been feeling movement since early second tri, so I doubt it’s anterior, but that’s the only option I see that looks like it’s in front.
  • Bummed to have an anterior placenta placement again this time  :/  It really sucks when you get the point of trying to count kicks and they are so faint.

@PensiveCrayon – Ooo fundal, does that mean you get the best of both worlds?  Feel some movement but get a little peace and quiet too?

@orangecrush29 – you are feeling him all the time with an anterior placenta already?!  I think I was in the solid 30ish weeks mark before I felt movement last time with an anterior placenta!

  • @lexidawg any luck with movement with your placenta?

  • I'm hanging out with a low lying placenta. They are hoping it moves up as I progress.
I'll have an ultrasound at 32 weeks to see where it is then.
  • @westcoastfoodie Thank you for asking! It has moved up so now it is just considered low lying. Hopefully, it continues to move.

  • @tunnel Maybe so! Ha. My ribs will be shielded from the big kicks? I actually haven't been feeling the nice big kicks as much the past several days, so I'm not sure what's going on. Hopefully just a big growth spurt and lots of sleeping.

  • @wickedtiny same here! Did your dr seem concerned about the marginal insertion? My midwife didn’t even mention it. I go back in on Friday for a second ultrasound and I can ask more about it.
