Introducing myself - PCOS, endometriosis and Hashimoto

Hello all. I’ve been perusing the boards for many months now and feel it’s time to jump in too. I’m 36 and DH is 40 turning 41 in a few months. We’ve been TTC for 15 months but since we are both AMA we’ve recently visited a RE. I’ve been dx with PCOS and Hashimoto which I take 100mg levithyroxine and 100mg (or mcg I can never remember) metformin to manage. The main issue is that I’m not ovulating. We did 50, 100 and 1 round of 150 before doing laparoscopy this past March. During the procedure my OB discovered tubes were clear, cysts were drained and stage 2 endometriosis was also found and cleared out. We then did another round of 150 clomid and I still did not ovulate. DH has a slight male factor, I’m not sure the exact numbers, but Dr. said it’s not terribly bad but the fact that neither of us has had children, I’ve never been pregnant before and he’s never impregnated anyone are all wild cards in our situation. The RE has given us the option of IUI or IVF and I have a 9.4 AMH level. Our insurance does not cover anything for infertility and after getting as much info as I could from one of the nurses in the RE’s office she said that couples with our circumstances usually at least try one round of IUI. As we all know, BFNs are the worst and I can only imagine how devistating it would be to go through an unsuccessful IUI but I would also always wonder if we could have saved some and gone with IUI. I’m currently leaning toward trying the IUI. I would greatly appreciate any insight offered and welcome all opinions.

So sorry to hear of your troubles.
The Bump doesn't make this too terribly user friendly, but you may want to edit your user name. Once you do, you have to log out and back in for the change to "take" - now for the real stuff....
You've been through a lot to get where you are. Sounds like a long 15 mos.
Check out both the IUI and IVF boards where people tend to be a bit more conversational. I am sure there will be some women happy to share what led them to their decision. When I was still TTC #1, we looked at it incrementally - tried not to get too far ahead of ourselves. IUIs were not crazy expensive and gave us a fair chance, but after three we knew it was time to move on. It's all about tolerance level.... which is unique to each person/couple.

Wishing you the best whatever you decide!
