Re: 2nd Trimester Check-in | w/o Aug 20th

  • @JamieH2000 Welcome! Let me know your due date and if you know the sex and I'll add that info to the main post. Thanks!

How far along? 25 weeks 2 days! Baby bean's as big as a head of cauliflower!!

Appts this coming week? Nope. OB appt and glucose screening next week.

How're you feeling this week? Feeling good all around, which is nice! I will enjoy the calm before the 3rd tri storm! lol!

    Rants/Raves:
October is going to be a very busy month! Our maternity photo shoot will be on the 13th, and we have our birthing classes and hospital tour on the 9th and 16th. We have a date/venue for the shower (21st), and I'd like to have the car seat installed and the hospital bag started by the end of the month (I'll be 35-36 weeks along by then). I'm tired just thinking about all of it!

GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? What's your "routine" like? Are you using any apps or other methods to remind you to do them?
Full disclosure, this was a selfish GTKY this week. I have been doing kegels every now and then, but I just can't seem to get into any sort of routine. I'd like to be doing them 3x a day, but most days I do them only once (if at all). At first, I wasn't even sure if I was doing them correctly. Now I'm pretty sure I've got the technique down, I just need to actually do them...

@mag1cbeli3ver I am having a boy if you could add that info please

    How far along? 16 weeks.

Appts this coming week?  I have my monthly OB appt tomorrow which will just be a measuring/ doppler appt. I'm going to ask if I can come off of pelvic rest and, if he says yes, I am going to beg for an ultrasound to confirm things are still good since having sex at this point basically terrifies me.

How're you feeling this week?  Is it weird that my boobs are still sore?  With my first pregnancy they were sore for like a week like right when I found out and then I had nothing.  So it's lasted way longer this time.  I'm also hungry all. the. time. and then I eat and don't feel good until I'm starving again.  Bad pattern.

    Rants/Raves:  None yet.

GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? What's your "routine" like? Are you using any apps or other methods to remind you to do them?  I am not but I know I probably should be.

  • @mayflower513 congrats on the baby  boy and good luck with coming off pelvic rest! That was a thing for me at my last appointment and they let me know if my scan was good I could come off. I was a bit worried but hubby and I had a little sexy time and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be  ;)

    How far along? 25+3
Appts this coming week? No appointments this week but had my echo last week and other than the babies moving all over the place, they said the hearts both look good!
How're you feeling this week? I think my 3rd tri tiredness is kicking in early because I have been so exhausted lately!
Rants/Raves:But hubby and I finally have our new family vehicle. Since he has an older daughter and we have DD together with the twins coming we really needed a large SUV or minivan so we ended up with a Yukon and we are all very happy so far.
GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? What's your "routine" like? Are you using any apps or other methods to remind you to do them? Honestly haven't really do much of this at all yet, but need to get on it!

GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? What's your "routine" like? Are you using any apps or other methods to remind you to do them?
i am not. I should probably start soon!!

    IVF #2: 03/2018.

  • @mag1cbeli3ver- Thanks for adding me! My DD is 2/20 and we don't know the sex yet- but will find out at the 20 weeks scan :)
@mayflower513- I also want to ask about coming off pelvic rest at my appt next week. But I don't think I would be comfortable without an U/S first. My clinic has those pretty decent portable laptop ones in the room, so I'm hoping it would be good enough to check the SCH. But maybe they will send me for an "official" scan too to get better measurements. I'm debating if I should call this week and see if they just want to schedule an official on.
@joslynj11- wow congrats on the great echo scan! I feel like each week passed is a relief, and I can imagine its even more true with twins! I hope they are comfy in there for at least 10-13 more weeks!
@prudence9-2 Sorry to hear you are struggling with the GD- it sounds like such a challenge and I can't imagine dealing with that on top of everything else. You are such a good mom to your baby already! I hope it gets easier somehow soon!

How far along? I will be 14 weeks on Wednesday!

Appts this coming week? Nothing this week- next appt is next Thurs at 15 weeks. Which is why i dabbled with the doppler this weekend and freaked myself out! Thanks again for all the reasurance this weekend!

How're you feeling this week? Overall I am feeling less nauseous and better for more hours of the day. Yet my mornings have become rougher and I have gotten sick more in the last week than the whole first tri combined. Its kinda funny, but I only get sick on weekdays. I honestly think sleeping in and not taking a hot shower right away really helped me on the weekends!

Rants/Raves: Nothing really- except thrilled to be in the second tri with all of you since I have followed most of your journeys for a while now :)

GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? What's your "routine" like? Are you using any apps or other methods to remind you to do them? Hmmm i guess I should consider starting them! Curious on the apps part of the question. Are any of you using any pregnancy apps regularly? I was too scared most of the first tri- but now I have downloaded the Bump, Glow, Ovia, and what to expect to see if I like any of them :)

    Appts this coming week?

Fetal echo tomorrow morning - hoping all is well.

    How're you feeling this week?

Back from our babymoon and sad to be back at work today :(. But otherwise, it’s pretty nice not to be nauseous and to only be my usual tired (and not exhausted).

    Rants/Raves:

Dreading my glucose test end of next week - just *barely* squeaked by when I did it at 12 weeks...  I sort of wonder if I should just go straight to the 3-hour.

I have not.  But I know I really should!  Haven’t done my Pilates exercises in a couple of weeks either :(

  • @JamieH2000 when was your last ultrasound?  How big was SCH then?  Mine was gone at my 11 week ultrasound (I actually had 2 that week because of spotting) and still gone at my 12 week one (my last one) I just wouldn’t be comfortable coming off pelvic rest without reconfirmation..

we have the portable ones too but they’re not usually only used for viability.  I’m really hoping he’ll let me schedule one!

    Hello beautiful ladies!

@JamieH2000 I'm soooo happy to see you here! Congrats making it to second tri!  <3

For kegel exercises, I dont know where I read but it was saying dont over do it and actually do something else instead (maybe squats?). I have to check it again and refresh my pregnant memory and will let you know. Because of that I haven't been doing them.

@artemis618 I hope your echo goes great today! I am also dreading my glucose screening - it's next Friday, so we'll be taking it right around the same time!

@JamieH2000 The only app I've been using is TB. I go to the What to Expect website once a week or so to check things. I feel like I'm already over-obsessed with everything baby that I couldn't imagine checking more apps! lol!

@prudence9-2 I'm sorry the GD stuff doesn't seem to be getting better. I feel so bad every time I read that you have to do something else or take more insulin on top of what you were already doing. On the plus side, we're on the count-down side of pregnancy now, so not much longer to go! You are a trooper!

    ETA words I forgot...

  • How far along? I’ll be 15 weeks on Wednesday!

Appts this coming week? Midwife appointment on Friday.

How're you feeling this week? The anxiety is starting to ramp up, as it usually does before an appointment. Otherwise I’m feeling great! The SI joint pain I’ve been having was a LOT better this week. Yay for no shooting pains!

Rants/Raves: I went to a prenatal barre class yesterday. It was fun, but totally kicked my butt. So sore today! Today should be fun though. A friend is coming over to help me clean out my closet and put together outfits for work. I’m making homemade cookies and cream ice cream as a thank you for her, so that should be super tasty!

GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? What's your "routine" like? Are you using any apps or other methods to remind you to do them? Nope, but I did just start seeing a physical therapist for help with the joint issues. Her specialty is prenatal and postpartum issues, so I plan to ask her about this.

I had my 16 week appointment and things looked good, my OB also let me have an ultrasound which was amazing.  She still saw no signs of any bleeds.  Of course my anxiety is never appeased Bc now that I’m home I keep staring at the brain.  Does it look “normal”?

  • @mayflower513 Congrats on a great appointment, and that's so awesome that you got to see baby with an ultrasound! RE: the brain, I have NO idea what looks normal or not! lol! I'm so bad at "reading" sonograms! But I'm sure everything is okay. If it wasn't, I'm sure they would've mentioned something.

  • @artemis618- good luck with the echo today- I'm sure it will be great!

@mayflower513- last time they measured at 11 weeks it was still like 1.5x1.5x 2 or something. So not huge but def still there. I wouldn't be comfortable coming off pelvic rest unless it is confirmed its completely now. No spotting for a few weeks, so its either reabsorbed or just hanging out there. I also have the nonviable twin that was just hanging out there at 11 weeks too... so would like a check on that part as well.  Also, that is a beautiful scan! Looks like a real baby! No idea about the brain, but I am sure they would have moved up your A/S if they had concerns. Do you go in at 20 weeks?

@ilky and @prudence9-2 thanks for the warm welcome and glad we get to overlap for a few weeks! I feel like you will be in the third tri before we know it!

@mag1cbeli3ver- I hear you! I think about it all the time and I think checking too much just gives me anxiety. I am more curious what apps people use after to track everything and how important the tracking is... will worry about that in the third tri tho.

@darkstar42- can't wait for your appt on Friday! I know what you mean about anxiety before it for sure. Good for you for working out! I feel like I am going to be so weak when this baby comes!

    Thank you @mag1cbeli3ver!

@JamieH2000 I asked about pelvic rest and he said to wait for another scan, which was before the one I had today, so I don’t know if I’m clear since she didn’t see anything or if I’m still supposed to wait for my level 2.  I’ll probably just wait.  I have that on 9/10, so in 20 days!  If that was 3 weeks ago I would imagine it’s probably gone!  I did have spotting before and after they said it was gone so who even knows what goes on with them.  FX for the other sac to be gone too!

How far along? 16 weeks 3 days (due date is actually 2/2, not 2/4 as listed)

Appts this coming week? No, it's next week

How're you feeling this week? Basically okay. I am getting a little out of breath now, especially when I have to carry 19 my month old . I also can't hide my pregnancy anymore  I'm definitely showing.

    Rants/Raves:
I'm getting close to the new school year and going back to work  I'm dreading it and looking forward to going back at the same time. I'm a teacher.

GTKY: Have you been doing pelvic floor/kegel exercises? While I'm sure they could help me with other things (during and after pregnancy for down the road), I'm having a planned c-section so I will not need it for the birth. I am periodically doing exercises to help with my overall energy and health  but I need to step it up a bit.
  • Sorry, @LynnNJ - I fixed your due date!
