I need a “why is my kid crying” thread so I know I’m not alone. Apparently DS has deemed EVERYTHING as meltdown worthy. Here’s why we’ve cried today so far:
-I won’t let him bite me
-I won’t let him smack the dog with a hammer
-I put him in his high chair
-I took him out of his high chair
-I wanted to change his diaper
-I won’t let him eat his father’s collectibles
-I gave his toys funny voices while playing
He falls and smacks his head and we get 10 seconds of whimpering, but Mommy says “no” and we get 10 minutes of non-stop screaming.
Re: Why is my child crying
The reason?
My MIL threw away an empty yogurt tube with a ring tailed lemur on it and he loved the lemur so much.
- I left her with her father to take out the dirty diapers that were making me gag
- We didn’t let her play in the toilet
- Her father left her with me to go help FIL
-because he had a poopy diaper
-because he was covered in dog hair and I was trying to get it off with the lint roller
-because I put clothes on him
This was before 10am.

Because we were at the park.
Because she had to put on her safety gear to ride her bike.
Because she was riding her bike.
Because she she didn’t want to ride her bike.
Now she’s asleep. Thank heavens.

Because I left the room.
Because I did not leave the room but I left his immediate line of sight.
Because I tried to answer work emails while he was sitting in my lap playing with his toys.
Because nobody was looking at him.
Because he woke up in his crib and not my arms or bed.
Clearly we are in a needy phase.
- Because I gave her breakfast.
Because he asked to put on his dino backpack and I put on his dino backpack
Because I wasnt wearing a hat
Because his humongous truck trailer wouldn't attach to his tiny tractor
Because I offered him cheese.
Today it was because dad was going to drive him to grandma's house and not me.
Then DD had a meltdown because grandma and papa were going back to their house. They will be back in two days, but apparently that’s not soon enough for her.
because it was time to get dressed
Because the iPad died
because I said no more Apple juice
because daddy was putting him to bed and not mommy
because I didn’t let him put the lid on his sippy cup
becaue he ate all his food and there was none left
because the dog sat too close to him
because in sister was closer to mommy than him
I mean he’s not always like this, today just wasn’t our day. Good thing we didn’t have to go out in public and risk a public meltdown
because papa wasn’t feeding her fast enough
because she didn’t want any more food
because I was eating breakfast
because she caught her hand in a cabinet (legit)
because Grandma went to work
because I took her up for a nap without papa
because papa came but wasn’t carrying her
because she didn’t want to nurse
because she wanted to nurse but not nap
because she was nursing with eyes closed but papa announced his intention to leave
...repeat for lunch, afternoon nap, dinner, and bedtime.
I ate cake for dinner.
Because I told him to read a book on the car ride home.
Because we watched a movie he didn't like (that he decided at the end...).
Because we told him it was bedtime and no, we weren't carrying him to the potty.
Whew. And I'm having a second one of these? The mom guilt/doubt/stress is real tonight, folks.
