How far along are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks, size of a grapefruit I guess. Or a box of mac & cheese, which seems more accurate.

Nails and fails from this week: A nail is surviving this stupid HFM that's hit my son and turned him into a tiny, feverish terror. Fail, I'm sure, will be bringing him to the chiropractor in a half hour. Last week he screamed through my entire adjustment, but that was the first day he was feeling poorly.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Dear Diary, my kid has picked up so many skills in the last week, and it's heartwarming to see! Now if only he'd reach this language explosion I've been promised...
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)? Ohhhhh. I guess read to him when he tolerates it. He's a very independent little dude.

Nails and fails from this week: We did nothing this weekend, and it was glorious. We have cows on our property, and my husband brought in some cow poop on his shoe with him other day, and DD put it in her mouth so gross. It was a mess!
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I need to bite the damn bullet and purge the closets we have in the house and finally move the stuff out of the office to make a nursery. I don't know what I'm waiting for.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)? Watching her play is so fun because I get to see her little brain moving.
@pensivecrayon I was going to ask you how your son was. You didn't seem to complain like I did when my daughter had it did you manage to avoid getting sick yourself?
@katy0990 I really think I should do the Build A Bear thing! DD has just recently gotten super into stuffed animals so I think it would be fun for her.
@PensiveCrayon Oh, I am so sorry you're still in the throes of HFM. It's so terrible!!

24 weeks 1 day! Cantaloupe, which I just realized I can't spell without looking it up, lol.
How old is/are your other LOs?
DD is officially 2.5 now!
Nails and fails from this week: Nails - well, I have to mention this as it's literal nails *Warning this is gross* my poor DD is having her nails fall off from the nasty bout of HFM she got. Apparently it happens it severe cases and she had LOTS of spots, so I wasn't completely surprised, but I was surprised that it took so long. She's lost two fingernails so far. Luckily her toenails are good and I think she'll only lose 1-2 more fingernails, poor thing. The "nail" of this is that I have gotten really good at anticipating when they're going to come loose and trimming them off and I haven't even gagged once even though it is completely grossing me out!
Fails - This is a hybrid between a nail and fail I guess. DD is still not loving being in the preschool class because it's more structured than toddlers and because she had such a strong connection to her toddler teachers *but* she is learning like crazy. She has always made me change her clothes completely, even though I know she could do it, but now that she's in the big kids class she is insisting on putting on her own underwear, pants, shirts and socks! She still needs a bit of help now and then, but she gets so excited to say "I got dressed all by myself" and "I'm a big kid!" But she still is only eating most of her lunch instead of all and doesn't look as happy in photos as she used to, but it's only been a week and she's already made new friends, so I am trying to be patient with her happiness levels.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Going on a girls weekend Saturday with friends and I haven't done that (or spent a night away from DD) since she was born, so I'm excited and nervous about leaving DD!
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)?
She absolutely *adores* the zoo, so I love taking her there just to see her face light up about the meerkats and flamingos. And we even found a pig (warthog), which is her current fave animal, and she was over the moon.
Nails and fails from this week: Nailed it: DD finally lost a tooth that's been wiggling for months, at 9pm one night. I wasn't really feeling like being the tooth fairy that night, but she came into our room later and asked if we thought she could keep the tooth an extra night. Wrote a note to the tooth fairy, saved myself having to get outta bed and sneak into her room later that night.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear Diary, I am so damn excited for these kids to go back to school. Fall is so blessed.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)?
I like going to the pool with them - such a low-key way for them to get out of the house, do something physical, and interact with their peers. And actually, just having conversations with them is fascinating sometimes. The stuff they think about, if you stop and really listen to them, is so interesting. It's hard to believe we were all so naive once.
@maureenmce DD lost a nail this spring (she got an infection when she ripped off her cuticle). I was surprised at how quickly it grew back, hopefully you'll be surprised, too.
@maureenmce it’s interesting you bring up your DD losing nails. My daughter looks like she’s going to lose her one ring finger nail. I read it can take 4-6 months to grow back
@Jens_Hoes I went back to find the first picture of took of DD's nail, when I first noticed it had separated from the cuticle. It was May 14, and her nail has completely regrown in that time and is as long as any of her others (she had a mani two weeks ago with my sister and it looked completely normal), so again, it might be quicker than you think
@runrinserepeat Oh that would be awesome if the regrowth happens that fast. Did you do anything special to keep the nail bed clean or anything while it was regrowing? DD is basically a dirt monster so I am slightly worried about infection or other issues.
Also, when did you start allowing your kiddos to do mani pedis? My DD has shown interest lately in mama's "color toes" and I was thinking 3? 4?
@maureenmce for a week or two we had to soak in warm water 1-2x a day, and apply a special antibiotic ointment to it 3x a day, because of the infection she had. We tried to keep a band aid on it all the time, but it just wasn’t realistic for a 6 yo. I do think she used that thumb a little less because it was more sensitive, so it didn’t get as dirty as I would have thought.
Im trying to remember the first time I took her for a mani, maybe when she was 5? We’ve allowed her to paint her nails/have painted nails since she was a toddler, just used kid-friendly stuff until she was 3-4 years old.
How old is/are your other LOs? 6.5, starts 1st grade on Mon!
Nails and fails from this week: Nail: Cleaned DS room out & donated 3 boxes of clothes & 2 xl boxes of toys!
Fail: His new bed been sitting in the living room for at least a week. I can't help DH carry it upstairs & he making no effort to ask someone.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Two friends throwing me a baby shower put the invite out on FB yesterday. I am excited at how many people are coming. We have lived here 3yrs & I'm not super outgoing, I try. Didn't really have a shower with my 1st.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)?
Having him read to me. He can already read on a 3rd grade level, it happened seemingly overnight 6 months ago.
@katy0990 I want to do the Build a Bear thing with DS for this baby!! We'll probably go in another month or two as we get closer.
@maureenmce that first night away is hard, but try to relax and enjoy it!! It's so nice to get out with adults and have real conversations and not have to worry about a baby/toddler when you get home.
@Jens_Hoes eeeewwwwww!!!!! Kids are so gross!!! Lol
How far along are you? How big is baby?
23w, grapefruit, or my picture app says banana
How old is/are your other LOs?
He's 2.5
Nails and fails from this week:
Nail: I've managed to cut a few new sewing patterns out! Just need to sit down and sew them now lol.
Fail: DS has REALLY been testing us lately. He refuses to eat dinner (also hasn't gained weight in months...not losing though, so I guess it could be worse), he doesn't listen to anything we say regardless of if we ask him nicely (ten thousand times...) or end up yelling, and he keeps hitting us in the face when we ask/tell him not to do something. DH and I are both at our wits end at this point...any suggestions would be great.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
See above maybe? I really wish DH and I could get a weekend away, but we can't afford anything.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)?
I love having conversations with him!! He amazes me with how much he understands and can say back to us. Sometimes we can actually hold a pretty good conversation. And as much as I may complain sometimes (not here, just in general) I love our books and songs before he goes to bed. We sit in the rocking chair, read a couple books, and sing a couple songs together, and in that moment he's usually at his sweetest.
Too lazy to tag, but re: HFM it was, thankfully, a fairly mild case. I only ever saw a few mouth sores, which were manageable with the magic mylanta/Benadryl solution, and so far he hasn’t had any body spots aside from the telltale diaper rash. The fever lingered though, but praises! I think it broke yesterday evening! We shall see when I get him out of bed.
As far as how I managed to avoid it...dumb luck?

How old is/are your other LOs? DS will be 22 months in a couple of weeks.
Nails and fails from this week: NAIL: GOT DS INTO A BIG BOY BED SUCCESSFULLY!!! His room is still not 100% done but it's just about there. I'll post some photos once it's done because we're defintiely not decorators or painters but I think it's super cool. We did a Thomas the train room for him. DOUBLE NAIL: I've started to take him off bottles! straw cup at home now so i just have to get daycare to turn in their bottles.
FAIL: Kid got his first scraped knee at a wedding on Saturday.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: I'm working on placing him in another day care for when he turns 2 but I'm a little worried I'm being selfish. His daycare location just isn't convenient right now. I just worry about moving him end of October then making him part time or hauling him out in December.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)?
anything! He's so much fun at this age! We were off last week since his day care was closed and we went to the beach, the farm to feed animals, went strawberry picking, did lots of lunches out, went to a wedding, went swimming, to a giant festival with bouncy castles and food, and he's been such a pile of fun!!
@CecilB93 The blatantly ignoring us thing has been happing here, too. The only thing that seems to help is putting him in the corner for 2 minutes. Have you tried that? @pensivecrayon I’m glad you managed to avoid HFM and that he had a mild case. That stuff is nasty! @kristah2 Congratulations on the big boy bed transition! Don’t they seem so much bigger when they are no longer in the crib?
How far along are you? How big is baby? 20 Wks 1 day
How old is/are your other LOs? 4 and 6 yr old boys
Nails and fails from this week: Nails: I cooked one nice meal this week - sounds ridiculous but I don't have the time to make a nice dish daily
Fails: I forgot to give my kid benadryl before school since they had a petting zoo
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Super happy and relieved to hear from doc yesterday that all is okay with my anatomy scan earlier this week. No spinabifida issues since they wanted closer look at her pelvis and skin.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)? Anything outdoors! Usually swimming
@katy0990 nothing worse than having house work done. I know the feeling spent a year having bathrooms and laundry room fixed and now the roof replaced which since we have gotten a roof leak and they haven't been able to fix in the past month + so there is a nice bucket hanging out in the family room for when it rains.
@kristah2 big boy bed is awesome! Always a big deal to get them to that stage. Hopefully he stays in
@pensivecrayon HFM is the worst! They keep saying how bad it is here in VA right now. My husband even got it which was painful.
@CecilB93 What are you making? I love to sew I just don't have time. I have tons of crap cut out from years ago I never finished.
@Jens_Hoes cow poop I just can't! And I thought I was grossed out when my dog ate my kids poop that rolled out of his underwear when potty training ick!
@Mommaswizz super exciting about kindergarten that is a huge step!
@runrinserepeat are you home during summer? I don't want school to start!!! I feel like the craziness will begin again with two drop offs, sports etc nooooo

@mcgeeva, no. I work full time, DH stays home with the kids. And yes, it's going to be crazy - I handle drop offs, but DH will have to handle pick ups and taking DD to ballet and gymnastics - and we'll have to get back on a better sleep schedule and get used to homework and all that crap again, but I feel like both kids respond SO much better to having a little structure in their days! Plus, I know my house will be cleaner since DH will have 3 mornings a week without any kids (at least for the first half of the year!)

@Jens_Hoes Oh my gosh. Yuck. I think I would have thrown up!
How far along are you? How big is baby? 20w5d Baby is the size of a banana
How old is/are your other LOs? He's 2 years 2 months
Nails and fails from this week: Nails: He's been getting better at telling us when he has to poop, I think.
Fails: He did have a couple of accidents this week though, which sucks. It was just Monday, when he was here with DH.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary: Dear Diary: We leave for vacation on Sunday. I am excited, but kinda bummed we aren't leaving when I thought we were. Rant: We will likely end up getting there Monday instead of Sunday because DH has to work on Sunday now because the person who was supposed to cover for him is an ass.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)? I love to take him to the park when it's not too hot, swim with him, take him places (zoo, aquarium, etc).. I love seeing the joy on his face. I also loving playing with him and reading books with him. It's the best when he takes the book from me and pretends he is reading!

TTC #1: 1/2014
Diagnosis: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
Treatment: Clomid: 50mg, 100mg, 150mg - not successful and not monitored
Nails and fails from this week: Nails: I cooked a real dinner this week which I feel like I haven’t done in a month. I’ve been doing the easiest possible meals because of being tired by the end of the day and aversions. So it felt good to do that.
Fails: we’ve had a couple of bad days regarding tantrums this week. I just ignore them mostly. Is that what you’re supposed to do? I don’t feel like time out would be effective for that at this point so I just let her do it and don’t give in.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
I really wanted to clean today but I was having Braxton Hicks in the middle of the night last night and now my left side of my belly is sore and I’m moving really slow today. So I suppose I should just take it easy. Luckily DH is home this morning to help with DD so I’ve been able to chill out a little bit.
GTKY: What is your favorite activity to do with your other kiddo(s)?
I’ll be honest I’m a homebody and we don’t do a whole lot of “activities.” Most of the time we just hang out at home and she plays with her toys. She’s a very independent player so I’m pretty hands off there too. I love snuggling when she lets me and reading to her. And I just love watching her think and figure things out. So much fun to watch little ones learn.
App is being stupid an wont let me tagatkt kthe moment but I read and love titted!l
@katy0990 we do timeout, he sits on the stairs until he stops screaming (crying is okay, but he straight up screams as loud as he can), then we talk about why he was put there, mommy explains things, then we hug and he usually listens. Not so much with eating though...he refuses to eat dinner or will take a bite knowing he's going to spit it out anyways and make us mad for spitting food on the floor.
@mcgeeva I have Christmas pj pants to make for all of us (NB size has been cut), a maternity shirt and matching cardigan for myself, 2-3 promised pairs of pj pants for DS (he picked the fabric at JoAnn's), plus when I get the fabric I'll have Christmas pj shirts for all 4, and a shirt for DH with fabric from his favorite video game, probably boxers too. Next week I'm doing a sew-a-long for a sweatshirt with a maternity modification, and eventually DH wants me to make one too since the pattern has men's and women's sizes. It's a lot when I type it out!!! Lol
@CecilB93 Holy cow that is a ton! Where do you find the time to do this???
Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! Stupid app is acting up. I can’t tag or copy/paste right now.
Kristah2 - cannot believe you’ve made it to 22 months without a skinned knee. As soon as mine could walk, she was going full tilt and I swear we’ve had skinned knees by the dozens pretty much ever since.
Jens_Hoes - that is soooo gross! I can’t even.
How big is baby: 21 weeks, the size of a carrot?
Nails/Fails: Nails: I was super productuve at work today and got through a ton of stupid administrative stuff I shouldn't even have to do. Fails: still haven’t set up day care visits yet. Must. Stop. Procrastinating.
Rant/rave/diary: dear diary: Four has been a wild ride so far. She is getting so independent, we have fascinating conversations, she’s incredibly loving and sweet, able to do so many things well, and holy hell, the tantrums have been legendary.
GTKY: It’s so hard to pick just one. She has been really into doing puzzles, which we were doing tonight before bath. And riding her bike, cooking together, reading, adventures around town, like the zoo or childrens museum, listening to and watching music.
@mcgeeva I don't lately I've been working on things at night after dinner or in the weekends when DS is napping. The Christmas stuff is at the bottom of my list, but still something I plan to work on over the next couple months. I'm being induced no later than 12/6 if I don't go into labor naturally, so I know come November/December I likely won't sew too much leading up to Christmas.

DS2 due 12/12/18
As far as how I managed to avoid it...dumb luck?

How old is/are your other LOs?
DS will be 22 months in a couple of weeks.
Nails and fails from this week:
NAIL: GOT DS INTO A BIG BOY BED SUCCESSFULLY!!!
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
I'm working on placing him in another day care for when he turns 2 but I'm a little worried I'm being selfish.
@pensivecrayon I’m glad you managed to avoid HFM and that he had a mild case. That stuff is nasty!
@kristah2 Congratulations on the big boy bed transition! Don’t they seem so much bigger when they are no longer in the crib?
Happy Thursday!

@mcgeeva I am so glad they didn't see anything concerning with the a/s!
@kristah2 First skinned knee at 22 months?! You're doing good. DS had a skinned knee almost as soon as he could walk! lol

Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: He's been getting better at telling us when he has to poop, I think.
Fails: He did have a couple of accidents this week though, which sucks. It was just Monday, when he was here with DH.
Rant/Rave/Dear Diary:
Dear Diary: We leave for vacation on Sunday.

Nails and fails from this week:
Nails: I cooked a real dinner this week which I feel like I haven’t done in a month.
Lol

Nails/Fails:
Nails: I was super productuve at work today and got through a ton of stupid administrative stuff I shouldn't even have to do.
