Yup, still nursing despite having tried to wean since 9 weeks (probably not happening). I find that my nipples are no longer excruciatingly sore but I’m nervous if I don’t wean soon I’ll be tandem nursing and don’t know if I want to commit to that
I’m nursing once a day. It hurts very bad all of a sudden, it didn’t at the beginning. As much as I want to wean, I’m scared for the hormone crash after weaning. @lifeislove87 I know some girls who weaned when they went to the hospital to have the baby!
We stopped about a week ago (DD is 13 months). It was a tough decision but it was becoming extremely painful and my supply was dwindling. We had been night-nursing only for about 2 months and DD started to sleep through most of the night. All of the sudden, DD was waking up every 2 hours trying to feed all night long and it was so uncomfortable (breast/nipple pain) so I had to quit I'm kind of sad because I was able to keep it up with DS until 20 months, despite being 4.5 months pregnant with DD at the time, but we quit for the same reasons (pain and supply). So far, DD has been great with being weaned since she is totally cool with formula and cow's milk. Plus she is consistently sleeping through the night now! Yay!
We are still at it (16 months). The nipples have gotten better. DS hasn’t nursed before bed the last two nights by his choice. He also had a really short session this AM so he might be weaning.
@ThePax89 I doubt I’ll be successful weaning even in the hospital. I’ve been hospitalized twice this pregnancy (once for a week) and my supply has survived and she’s wanted to nurse more. I’m hoping she doesn’t like the taste of colostrum
