Hey, y'all! This is a check-in for those of us that are high risk. Whether you've known from the beginning or were just told, this a place to get some extra support. High Risk pregnancies bring an added level of stress and fear to an already stressful time, so use this as your safe space. It should go without saying, but I will, a lot of this thread thread will be TW, so there is no need to use them. We've either all been through this or are navigating together. So let's support each other as we navigate the craziness of a high risk pregnancy.
1. How far along are you? EDD?
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out?
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc.
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family?
Re: High Risk Check-in w/o 8/15
24 weeks, 2 days. November 26th but they won't let me go that long. I am hoping to go to the 19th.
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out?
My age, 38 about yo turn 39. I also have pre-existing hypertension and hypothyroidism and now also GD. I knew from the beginning O was considered high risk
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc.
Extra ultrasounds monthly but then weekly, weekly check in with a NP for my sugars. Also will deliver early.
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post.
Actually, feeling pretty good except for my back which hurts so bad and just getting winded super easily. It takes me forever to get anything done. I have to keep stopping and resting.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family?
Yes, I am so excited about this little man. However, my infertility makes me forget I am pregnant sometimes. It is weird, I gave to actually remind myself that I am pregnant.
27+3 Nov 11th, but I will deliver before that
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out?
ICP, Preterm delivery, I've always known
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc.
I just got the word I have ICP, so I'm starting every two weeks BPPs until 32ish weeks then twice weekly NSTS, once weekly BPPs, and once monthly labs, maybe even bi-weekly labs.
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post.
I knew the ICP was coming, I was just going it would stave off a little longer. Now we get to play thegameof how sick can I get before he takes the baby. We set a goal for 30 weeks and then we will evaluate weekly after. I'm glad this kiddo is measuring ahead and already weighs over 2lbs.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family?
I really am. Ds is all about the baby and when I get a new u/s he always says that's my baby brother. I'm excited to watch him with the babe.
25 weeks 1 day. I am due 11/27, but they are not letting me go past 11/20 (which happens to be my birthday)
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out?
2 pre-term kiddos, age, and hypertension.
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc.
I see my OB, a MFM (don't have to see them again until 32 wks), and do weekly Makena injections.

I am feeling great most days to be in my 40's and pregnant. My packs a mean kick, I still get tired, my back hurts, and sleeping is no longer my favorite past time. My ankles swole up my sausages last week and I feel like there is more of that to come.
On a much sadder note,
Absolutely! I get most excited about watching my husband react to our son's growth and milestones. His excitement is priceless.

1. How far along are you? EDD? 25w2d, EDD is 11/27
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out? I've always known I would be high risk due to a history of blood clots
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc. Extra monitoring, daily blood thinner injections, everything else is kind of up in the air at this point. Whereas my OBGYN acts kind of like she could care less, my MFM is the real star of the show. She hugs me when I leave her office, and is just wonderful. She and her staff seem to spend an extra amount of time with me. She even knows I struggle with anxiety due to my previous loss and infertility, so she spoils me with ulrasounds every 3 weeks.
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post. Besides being a little more tired than I normally would be, I honestly feel great. No adverse effects at this time.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family? After a year and a half struggling with infertility and loss, we are soooooo excited and cannot wait for our little girl's arrival (even though we want her to cook for a while longer!) Every time I feel her little kicks or punches, I feel so grateful to be pregnant. I can't wait to be a mom
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out? History of preterm labor, advanced maternal age, arcuate uterus (always known), and twin pregnancy (found out at 8 weeks)
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc. Extra monitoring, monthly ultrasounds, will deliver no later than 38 weeks.
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post. I feel like I'm 35 weeks pregnant, so that's a joy. My hips hurt so bad. Plus now I feel like I'm getting a cold. I failed my 1 hour glucose so now it's on to the 3 hour for the second time this pregnancy.
A couple raves though, the babies and I were cleared by maternal fetal medicine so we don't need to see them again unless something weird happens. Also, I'm so, so glad I don't have to do those stupid Makena shots this pregnancy. Such a pain in the butt (literally!) last time.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family? I've been excited for baby A since we found out we were pregnant. Baby B has taken a little more getting used to, but I'm definitely excited to meet them. Parenting 2 at once (and 4 under 4!) will be a challenge, but if it means pregnancy is over, I'm ready!

2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out? I have a mechanical mitral valve and have known from the start that I would be high risk. At 18w I found that I have a large subchorionic hematoma sitting over my cervix and at 20w that the amnion and chorion (the two membranes that make up the amniotic sac) have separated. I also have a single umbilical artery and marginal cord insertion. The mechanical heart valve means that I always need to be taking blood thinners.
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc. I have been on extra monitoring from the start, with regular visits with my OB and cardiologist. I keep experiencing moderate to heavy bleeding so have been admitted to hospital a bunch of times, most recently for two and a half weeks.
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post. At the moment I am super happy, because my OB let me go home from hospital! After two and a half weeks in there, it felt like getting out of prison. I really felt like I was starting to lose my mind in there, especially because I was hooked up to a pump 24/7 and could hardly leave my room. So happy to feel normal again, and spend time with MH and my cats. Next ultrasound is on Monday and as long as I don’t have any bleeding over the weekend and baby is still looking good, I think I’ll be back to resting at home.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family? I’m starting to feel excited again. For a while, we were looking at delivery by c-section at 28 weeks, and the thought of having a 28 weeker in the NICU for 10 - 12 weeks was more scary than exciting. My OB still can’t predict what is going to happen, but I’m feeling a bit more optimistic about making it closer to full term or at least having a preemie that needs NICU time but not nearly as many interventions. MH painted the baby’s room while I was in hospital so it was exciting to see that! I really want to start setting up the furniture but he needs to do a few more paint touch ups so will have to wait on that.
@Amber1174 I’m so sorry to hear about your friend’s loss. That’s really heartbreaking, and hard for you too.
1. How far along are you? EDD?
26w - EDD 11/23/18
2. Why are you high risk? How many weeks were you when you found out?
Mo/Di twins (found out at 6w 3d) and one baby has a Pulmonary Stenosis (found out at 20 w)
3. What is your protocol? I.E. extra monitoring, early delivery, etc.
Meet with MFM every other week (for now, eventually weekly closer to delivery), meet with Ped Cardiology for Fetal Echos every 8 weeks (and echos on the babies as soon as they're born), deliver no later than 11/2 (37w)
4. How are you? Use this as your rant/rave/screw this whole situation post.
I've mentioned it in a few other posts, but my OB is closing 1 month prior to me giving birth. So, I'm on the hunt for a new OB. I actually think it's a blessing in disguise because I don't like the practice my OB shares call with and was worried I'd end up delivering with one of them. If I wasn't meeting with MFM every other week (WAY more often than I meet with my regular OB), I might be a little more concerned, but I know the babes are being monitored.
GTKY: Are you starting to get excited about the new addition to your family?
Oh, definitely! While we're mildly terrified to jump right in with 2 on our first go-round, we're very excited to meet our babes. Just in the past week, or so, DH has finally been able to feel them kick - which is awesome! We're slowly getting everything prepared around the house and my team at work threw me a surprise baby shower last week - which was so sweet!
