I know we have a few besides me.  Check in here:
I'll start

Due: March 12 with di/di twins.  The doc says it looks like I ovulated from both sides so high likelyhood that they are fraternal. This will be babies 3 and 4, eek .

Fun fact: I have a twin brother .

Re: Moms of multiples

  • My EDD is 3/21, but realistically we are hoping for after Valentine’s Day.
My husband has lots of twins in his family.
Both eggs came from one ovary and they are measuring exactly the same so I’m thinking they may still be identical even though they are di/di. We will see I guess!!

At first I was completely freaked out, I feel unprepared for twins, and I’m worried we don’t have enough support and/or I won’t be able to go back to work.
My husband almost passed out during the US.

  • Is this just for twin moms or moms with more than one child?

  • @chocolatelemons this is for moms (pregnant with or mom to) twins, triplets... I don't know that a STM+ thread got started this week, but feel free to start one.

  • Not pregnant with twins, but I have them so OK to lurk/participate when applicable?  I seriously can't contain my excitement for you guys because as scary as it is, it is even more to have them and enjoy them and watch them grow. Thrilled for all of you!
  • @3rdtime_charmed I shared your husband's sentiment. I told my husband it was cool to skip that appointment because they'd "just print a picture and I'll show you when I get home after work"....  That is the first and only time I have ever sworn at a medical professional at an appointment. And then had to hold in the news alllll day because that is just not something I wanted to tell my husband over the phone!
  • @BuckeyeNut05 you don’t have to lurk! I think we are all looking forward to input from the ones that have already lived it!

  • @BuckeyeNut05 , you are more than welcome!!  We'd love a veteran twin mom's perspective.  How old are your twins?  I was alone at my appt to.  There was cursing and crying. This pg was not expected. We were done...so it's still a shock.

@3rdtime_charmed was the Dr sure it was 2 eggs?
I can relate to fears if not enough support.  We are a military family in TX and the nearest family is in WI.  On top of that we just moved to a new city and are still house hunting.

  • Thanks guys!  @Pooka8 mine turned 6 in May. It's taken me this long to feel ready to have another!  Haha.

We lived far away from family for the first 2 years our girls were here, too.  It was hard, but we made it work.
  • @Pooka8 I’m not sure. We definitely have di/di twins though so it’s more than a 75%chance they are fraternal.

  • Hey ladies!
    Due with di/di March 29!
I’m so nervous that One of my babes won’t keep developing, it measured almost a week behind and has a lower heart rate! I have another month until I see the doctor and won’t even have an ultrasound then... I’m going crazy over here lol
  • @Sparkylove I’m sorry you are anxious. I just keep telling myself that as long as I’m not bleeding, I will just keep on trucking.

@3rdtime_charmed yes I try to say that also however... *TW* I had a missed miscarriage a few years ago, and didn’t bleed for 2 months! :( sorry tmi! *END TW

But all I can do is pray for them both to be happy and healthy! :) thanks for the encouragement too ❤️
  • @Sparkylove I understand I am PGAL too. I try to reassure myself that after heartbeat on US and development of the placenta that Missed MC is less likely.

  • I just typed a long comment and it only put yes! :(  :/ we got this mama! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
  • Due with monodi twins due date is march 8th drs goal is Feb 15th 37weeks. This is baby 2 and 3 they'll be joining our 6 year old son. Excited to welcome twins but also terrified I cried for a full hour this morning worrying about monodi complications . Its going to be a rough few months for my anxiety.
  • @heatherv89 I feel you on the worry part! ❤️ It’s just a time game now while we all wait and pray! I’m glad we have this thread though, so we can all vent and have each other to talk to!
  • Pregnant with di/Di and due March 13th. This will be number 2 and 3 for me but my partner also has a son from a previous marriage. So I guess technically this will be number 3 and 4 for our family. Yikes! I'm scared of one not developing too but I keep telling myself the same thing that as long as I'm not bleeding I'm okay. I had an ultrasound at 7w5d and next isn't until 18 weeks. I don't know how I'm going to make it that long! At least I'll hear their heartbeats next week. Thanks so much for starting this thread!
  • That’s a loooong time to wait for ultrasound. My doc said I would probably get one every appointment in the begging because it’s so hard to get both of them reliably by Doppler at first. My next is Sept 4 and I am counting down the days until I get to see them again!!

  • Checking in.  I had to go in a few days earlier than scheduled yesterday because I had significant right lower abdominal pain.  I got to see the babies (11 wks) on ultrasound and everything looked good .Left with a "you either pulled something vomitting or have early appendicitis" and was told to go to the ER if I spiked a fever or got sicker. Thankfully... No fever and the pain has lessened.  Now, if only the nausea would let up.  I had to.take my older daughters (7and 4) so I had to tell them before I was ready .My 7 year old loved watching the u/s!

  • @katw123 that is a long time to wait!  Where do you live?  In my last bmb (July 14) our only twin mom didn't learn it was twins until her 18 week scan.  She's in Canada.  I was also told to expect frequent u/s (had one at 8 and yesterday at 11 weeks).  I'm also scheduled for a MFM eval in about two weeks and will likely have one there.  My OB sends all twin mom's to at least be evaluated by mfm and they manage any genetic testing if wanted (since multiples can confuse results).  I did learn that they let you get to 38 weeks but she said 1 of her last 9 twin mom's made it that far, so I guess that bumps me into February.

  • @heatherv89 I'm hoping having this thread will help us all with the anxiety level so we dont feel like we're at this alone .  <3

  • @Pooka8 that sounds really similar to what I was told.

re: genetic testing, I read about the Panorama, it’s supposed to be way better for twins. I asked my doctor what she thinks about it but haven’t heard yet.

  •  my doctor said they won't even try using the Doppler with identical twins. My ultrasound schedule right now is I had one at 8 weeks that confirmed they were twins tomorrow I go to the high risk doctor for a 12 week 30 minute observation ultrasound then I go to my regular doctor at 16 weeks for an ultrasound and then I start going every 2 weeks until they think I need to go weekly or until delivery. my friend recommended my doctor and I've been so happy with them already she seems to really know what she's doing in terms of a twin pregnancy and I feel like my babies are safe with her
  • NIPT question:
Do you know which brand you are doing? I’ve read a lot and I really think the panorama is better for twins but I can’t get my doctor on board. She says the MaterniT is fine...

Hello, I went in for my first appointment Monday, we found out that we are having twins! Today we had an early ultrasound to confirm. This is pregnancy #1 for me, so I’m excited/nervous and all the feelings in between! I would love to hear from other moms of multiples about how they are/have dealt with the pregnancy, as well as tips for the future!
  • Hi everyone!! 11 weeks with identical twins!! EDD of March 14th...this will be #2 and 3 for me but firsts for my fiancé.. I have an almost 8 year old daughter already..  we go in about 2 weeks to see a specialist because they can’t seem to find the separating membrane that would make them mo/di twins.. Praying for good news at the specialist and that she finds the membrane
  • @Kelly070187 try not to stress too much. It took until either 12 or 16 weeks for them to find mine with my girls. And they had to really look. It's more typical for it to form than not.
  • Hey guys, so I got a call from my doctor and they're adding an ultrasound to my 12 week appointment! Thank God because waiting until 18 weeks would have drove me insane. If they didn't add it I was definitely going to be pushy after hearing all of your ultrasound schedules. Thanks for the support ladies!
  • *TW* had my first official appointment today (I switched doctors) and found out baby B stopped developing about a week ago. *End *TW* baby A looks great and has a heart rate of 188... mixed emotions is an understatement... I really like my new doctor though so that is a plus!
  • @Sparkylove I am so very sorry. Creepy internet hugs.
  • @Sparkylove I know you were really worried after the last US, Im sorry that your fears turned out for the worst. We are here for you!!

Any  new updates ladies?   I have my appt with the perinatal specialist Tuesday.  I had thought this was a one time visit unless there were problems but I guess they do all my growth scans, anatomy scan, and frequent Nsts toward the end.   It's  nice because they are 15 min away vs 30 but they have a strict no kids policy which leaves me. The 3 hours. My 4 year old is in prek for appts. So ce I am. New to the city and have zero friends.

  • Went to see the Specialist Friday at 13 weeks and she found the separating membrane.. so we have mono/di twins.. and found out that they are BOYS!! :) She will see me every two weeks starting now to do all of my ultrasounds..

@Kelly070187 Idid you know going in that they my be able to tell you the babies sex. I just assumed they wouldn't  tell me this early, I'll be 14 weeks even at my appt.  I don't know what to expect besides a 2-2.5  hour appt. I'm irritated that it took so long to even get an appt  I miss the nts window

  • @Pooka8 We had no clue she would be able to tell us.. She asked if we would like to know and I told her if she could tell that I would love to know.. She could only see one but said there was no doubt he was a boy!! And since they are identical, the other would be the same.. She measured fluid in each sac, measured their length, their head and checked to make sure they both had bladders.. then went over risks with mono/di pregnancies.. I still worry but feel better knowing she will be the one checking on them every two weeks :)

I had an appt with the perinatal doc today.  I had  been told by my ob that my edd is 3/12 based based on my shorter cycles and and the dating scan.  Then I get to this appt and they said all the paperwork said 3/15 based on lmp.  So since lmp bumped me back into week 13 I got an nt scan and all was normal.  The babies are stacked on top of each other and growing well despite my inability to eat much.  Phew.  They also drew blood for the panorama (had I known this was happening I would have had it done weeks ago!).  I go back the perinatal specialist in 5 weeks for my anatomy scan.

  • One of the twin mom pros on here told me about Moms of multiples groups. It’s a national organization. I found a local chapter called Parents of Multiples. They have 2 giant consignment sales a year. I’m going to look for double strollers but they have all kinds of stuff. Might be worth checking out for your local area!
