Re: Weekly Check-In -8/13 (Due date of 12/1 and earlier to 12/8.

  • How far along are you? How are you feeling?
24 weeks and 2 days ... seems harder to remember exactly the further along I get. Still feeling pretty good - belly feels uncomfortable at times. It’s like I know when it’s growing! Hahaha! Sometimes my feet are a little swollen in the morning then it goes away.

    Any appointment updates?
Waiting for them to post my ultrasound results to see what her overall size is since I didn’t talk to a Dr after my appt Thursday. Need to schedule glucose test and rhogman shot still. Blah.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Lots of drama surrounding the baby shower for my husbands side ... my MIL is being very selfish and unreasonable. Who tells the preggo woman the shower has to be at their house when said preggo woman has requested it be at her house so she doesn’t have to haul a bunch of crap. Oy!

GTKY: What is your astrology sign and do you relate to it?
I’m a Leo (my bday is Sunday!) and I feel like I 100% embody every characteristic that goes with it!

  • @hoosiermama-2 Her reasoning is that she doesn’t want to haul food to my house - even though no one asked her to make all the food and she had no problem hauling three coolers worth of food 5 hours for Thanksgiving last year. It’s a control thing really ... DH and I built a new house last year and I think she’s jealous.

@whitneyb89 I don’t know why people have to make the shower about themselves when it’s supposed to be for someone else - super awesome! Not! I’m letting my SIL deal with her own Mother and wait and see what happens. At the end of the day I could be a major bia and say I’m not going to the shower unless it’s at my house but I prefer to not go there.

    @maureenmce Thank you!
  • @countrygirl624 I may be getting the same "uncomfortable belly" feeling. Well, mine really feels like it's stretching. It's weird, but it sort of makes sense so I am not worried.
    @hkom @maureenmce I am a Scorpio too!

How far along are you? How are you feeling?
24+3. Feeling good. Dealing with lower back pain every once in a while (especially long car rides or golfing, it seems) but it goes away if I have a good sleep. Plus, I have my second ever prenatal massage today, so I am very excited!

    Any appointment updates?
    None until next week.

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
We are starting to work on the nursery! MIL ordered the crib (and toddler rails, and the full bed kit! Holy Moly!) and my sister is going to come over and paint a mural on the wall in the next couple of weeks. We are thinking flowers in muted/pastel colors.

GTKY: What is your astrology sign and do you relate to it?
Scorpio. I used to be really into it when I was a teenager and now I have to look up what the traits are. I do/did relate to it, but honestly you just end up picking the traits you like the most anyway :D
    • Strong willed? Yes, which is a funny combination with my stubborn Taurus husband. I have no idea what kind of children we will produce, but chances are good they will be stubborn too!
    • Passionate? Yes, I tend to be passionate about everything. I don't do things half way, which has been good and bad sometimes..
    • Possessive? No. Secretive? No, just quiet..

  • How far along are you? How are you feeling? 24 + 2. Fine I guess.  Belly gets in the way a ton which is annoying, harder to get up off the ground after playing with DD.

Any appointment updates?  Had my 24 week last week and they told me to stop gaining so much weight  :D the lady said it much nicer of course. Nothing again until early September, then we switch to every two week appointments   :o

Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? There is so much to be done for this LO. And I feel like I have no time.  As the summer comes to an end I feel like there is more I will want to do on the weekends (pumpkin patch, apple picking, halloween stuff, etc) and I don't know when I'll have time to move everything from the office which needs to become a nursery.  I also don't know where I'm going to put all this crap in the office! Ugh.

GTKY: What is your astrology sign and do you relate to it? Aquarius, and I know nothing about it so idk lol

@maureenmce holy moly 2 hours is exhausting!! are you guys thinking of doing anything differently, I imagine you won't be able to sustain that come December
@hoosiermama-2 you are cray cray for wanting to go straight to the 3 hour! lol I am scared I'll have to do that again.
@kadeephd try not to stress about the weight.  As you can tell I am on that struggle bus now.  It is what it is. Some people just gain weight in pregnancy.
@countrygirl624 and @whitneyb89 I hope you both get the shower you want, but I may be the minority here in thinking this but don't forget all these people are giving their time and money for you and your LO. Your DH should be helping to lug everything back to the house for you and the theme shouldn't matter too much in the grand scheme of getting a ton of stuff for free.  plus at the end of the day, you get an adorable little squish out of the whole deal!
  • @maureenmce I haven't tried anything for the heartburn yet, but I'm probably going to have in soon because dealing with throat tightness for multiple nights in a row kind of sucks. Probably eating a better diet would help me a lot as well..

@Jens_Hoes That's honestly why I haven't said anything to my aunt. I know in the end, it won't really matter. I just hate feeling ignored with the only thing I had a say in.
  • @countrygirl624 Ugh. Baby showers are supposed to be fun, not a PITA  :(
@hoosiermama-2 Gah! I wish I would have thought about that regarding skipping to the 3 hour.  I just took my screen yesterday and it was miserable and I'm horrified I'm not going to pass and have to drink the juice again  :'(:'(:'(
@hkom When I was in the hospital being induced, they asked if I wanted Ambien.  Maybe ask for a sleeping pill?
@whitneyb89 Have you tried taking zantac that helps acid reflux?
@kadeephd I gained so much weight last pregnancy that I feel like I'm overly anxious about weight chastising as well.  I've seen 3 different OBs in my practice and not one has mentioned my weight, so, so far so good! Hopefully the same for you!
@maureenmce I'm so sorry for the sleep regression.  We dealt with that and are still partially dealing with that, so no recommendations, just more power to ya!
@ab_canada Wow!!! I can't wait to see the mural!!! My FIL just told us he was going to order Owen's crib, so I'm super excited about that.  We need to work on nursery.  My MIL just left and she was staying in the room, so we need to break down some stuff in there and paint.
@Jens_Hoes I'm sorry again about the weight comment :( I mentioned to you in a another thread that I gained a lot of weight with DS1. My doctor was pretty chill about it but was like, you'll be fine, your baby will be fine, but it's REALLY going to suck losing weight once they get here.  :D:D:D:D He was sooooo right  :|

How far along are you? How are you feeling? 24 weeks 2 days.  I'm pretty good for the most part. Not sleeping amazingly, but that's to be expected, I guess.

Any appointment updates?  I had my Glucose Screen yesterday and just anxiously awaiting the results.  I met the new OB on staff yesterday and he's young (cute) and laid back.  He threw me for a loop asking about what I planned for BC after having this baby I was like "deeeeerrrppp"  We ended up talking it out and I touched on the fact that I'm 35 and not sure I don't want another baby and how we've used the rhythm method for the bulk of our time being married. He said it's just an effective form of BC as condoms and that if we've done it successfully, it's probably the best option.  I feel good about it because if we want another kid, it will probably be quickly after this.

Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I have to choose between hospitals.  My OB practice moved to a hospital that will be opened in October and it's supposed to be nice and new and fancy schmancy.  The hospital he moved from was great and that's where I had DS1.  I loved my experience, so I'm thinking of sticking with the familiar.  The new hospital is having an open house soon, so I will at least go take a tour.

GTKY: What is your astrology sign and do you relate to it? Cancer.  I have no idea if I relate or not.  I'm not a signsy person.
    *Loss 8/2014*
    *Rainbow 8/2015*
    *Expected Rainbows 12/2018*
    *Loss of Twin 5/2018*

  • I can't believe we're all at the point of that dreaded glucose test!

How far along are you? How are you feeling?
24+2 - struggling as I'm hungry all the time but I also feel like a cow.
    Any appointment updates?
Last apt was advised everything is looking good for little girl. They are debating adjusting my due date to 12/08 based on her size but I'm positive of conception date so who knows.
She said my placenta is low lying so I have to go back early October to see if it has moved at that point.
    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
I got a new job! I start Sept 19th. It's a 1 year contract position but of course I'll be going on leave end of November / early December pending if I go section or natural birth.
I did disclose to the person hiring that I was pregnant but I still feel guilty as she doesn't know just HOW pregnant. And I haven't talked to my new manager yet.
GTKY: What is your astrology sign and do you relate to it?
I'm a Scorpio and I think I'm pretty dang close!
  • @Jens_Hoes Is not even about the shower I want ... I honestly could care less. My SIL and I agreed to having it at my house as she was in charge of the shower and my MIL didn’t even ask me if it would be okay to have it at her house instead. She just told me without even including my SIL about anything. I’m not stressed just annoyed ... my husbands family is always drama crazies!!

@ab_canada My belly feels the same way! Like I ate a huge meal and it’s stretching and I can’t take a deep breath because of it. Also I realize I need more shirts as the “baggy” shirts pre-baby officially are retired and I need more maternity/bigger sizes.

Wooo look at all the Scorpios! !

@maureenmce The accidental too-tight pants are the WORST!  I've done that multiple times and it's miserable.

@texas_t I will probably ask them about a sleep aid tonight if I feel like I'm going to struggle again.  H is bringing me pillows from home so hopefully that helps.

  • @texas_t I saw your other comment, thank you.  I did gain more than the recommended amount last time too.  When I talked with DH about it, he stated it doesn't matter how much you gain, it "melted off last time".  I gave him a dirty look because it FAR from melted off lol I am super hoping you pass your GD screen.  I'm terrified of mine.

@kristah2 congrats! what's the new job? when will you let them know you're almost 3rd trimester?
  • @Jens_Hoes Thanks! It's with the federal government so it should be a decent job! I've been in the pool for a few months now (I actually found out I was pregnant right after the interview) and when they emailed me asking if I was interested in an upcoming position I disclosed I have become pregnant since the interview and if that was okay then of course I'd be interested.
When my new manager contact's me with next steps I'll probably disclose then that I'm pregnant and due December 2-8th and advise I'll be taking 13 months leave and cross my fingers she doesn't hate me ;)
  • @countrygirl624 Sorry that your MIL is being a pain! I hope your SIL can keep her in check and you enjoy your shower. I meant to ask this last week - how was the Hall of Fame game a couple weeks ago? We watched on TV, but I feel like it would be so much cooler to experience in person!

@whitneyb89 +1 to feeling helpless and hating it! I'm also someone who doesn't like to just stand by and watch. I always feel obligated to jump in and help however I can, but now I'm restricted to the sidelines. No one lets me do anything, which gets kind of annoying!

@maureenmce I'm sorry to hear about your daughter and her sleeping problems lately, but you make a great point that she's going through so many big changes right now! Hopefully it all settles down (and soon)!

@ab_canada Hooray for working on the nursery! Is you sister a painter or something? It's so cool that she'll be doing a mural for you and LO!

@Jens_Hoes I am also soooo looking forward to all the fun fall weekend activities! I'm totally over summer and ready for everything fall.

@kristah2 Congrats on your new job! How exciting!

How far along are you? How are you feeling?
24 weeks 3 days! Most of the time I feel okay (except for at night), but if I go several days without doing yoga or squats, my lower back starts to hurt a lot.

    Any appointment updates?
Glucose screening is on Aug. 31st, then I start biweekly appointments! How can that be true already?!

    Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Dear Diary: I'm so glad that I finally have hired all my new tutors for the fall semester! The whole process was way more stressful than normal and I've been testing and interviewing students since May! But yesterday I had my final interview and made all the position offers, so I feel like a big weight has been lifted.

GTKY: What is your astrology sign and do you relate to it?
Oh man - no other Pisces in this group?! I am a fish (and even have the pisces symbol as one of my tattoos) and I can definitely relate to that sign. I'm very emotional, day-dreamy, and artistic, and I absolutely love being in the water!
This question also made me wonder about baby bean, and it looks like most of our LO's will end up being Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21).

  • @kristah2 I am insanely jealous you get 13 months!!
  • @Jens_Hoes technically only 12 but it's still a long time!! last one will be based on approval and without pay as my EI would have run out by then but I don't really want to go back right before Christmas.
  • I’m 23+5 today. I keep forgetting how far along I am and having to refer to the app. Im feeling good. I’m tired but I think that’s due to my 2 and 4 year old and busy schedule more than pregnancy. I’ve been moody recently - feeling overwhelmed a lot.

Appts? My next appt is Monday (Glucose test). Not excited for that. With ds1 I was borderline for the 1 hr (failed), and had to take the 3 hour. For ds2 I think I took a 2 hour test. I think.... and passed. I do not want to drink that nasty drink.

R/R/DD: I’m not ready for the baby to come. (Earlier poster mentioned they were) I’m okay where I’m at feeling baby move and feeling okay. When baby comes I don’t have enough time off to cover leave (I’ll get leave, but not income). I knew this when getting pregnant, but it’s getting closer to reality. We will be fine- I just have to use my savings and I feel pretty clueless for how much birth costs will be. It was drastically different between ds1 and ds2. Also I just like being pregnant and I know it’s my last and I want it to stay just like it is (when it gets closer and I say the opposite- don’t judge me too hard).

Im a Libra. I think of Libra’s as always trying to be balanced. I think of myself that way- at least always trying to be that way!
  • @mag1cbeli3ver
Yes, she is! She recently completed her PhD and while that one was more in sculpture, she is a talented painter.

  • @mag1cbeli3ver Thanks - my MIL has been a pain the past three years ... I’m sure we’ll all survive, haha. The game itself wasn’t bad for a preseason game, got to see RGIII super close up. We were right in the end zone in a terrace space so there were high tops and regular tables to be comfy at. Food was pretty good and it was perfect weather! That’s awesome you’re doing yoga - I used to be a big time yogi but haven’t done any during this pregnancy.
  • @texas_t Oh, I'm so sorry you've been dealing with sleep regression too, it is the WORST.

@Jens_Hoes My husband and I are going to try to brainstorm some solutions because, yes, we cannot sustain this once the new baby comes. But it's complicated because I think with all of the changes she's going through with preschool and me being pregnant, part of the issue is she wants me to physically be next to her. We had another very rough night last night and I was up from 4-5 trying to get her back in her crib (my husband tried, but she literally will scream mama until I go in there) and it just ended with her in bed with me, snuggled up and she slept peacefully. Every time I tried to transfer her, she woke and cried for me. I...hope this passes before the baby comes? But I'm worried it may intensify when he arrives. She's definitely a mama's baby and I am not sure how to address that. (And she is not a kid who responds well to cry it out for a variety of reasons, unfortunately.)
  • @mag1cbeli3ver OMG...I forgot that biweekly appointments are starting soon! I think mine start as of 28 weeks. Weeeeeirrrrdddd.
    Pregnancy TickerSaveSave
  • @Jens_Hoes Yes, I'm very cray cray in general. I just know that I'd fail the first test.
I feel you on the so much to do, so little time. Our guest room will become the nursery and my office will become the guest room. My office? Moving to a corner of our bedroom. :D We'll probably cosleep for the first 4-6 months, so I keep telling myself there's not TOO much pressure to finish his nursery. But my mom is all about it.

@texas_t Also Cancer, also not signsy. Maybe that's one of the traits?? :p
