  • Due date: 4/10

Any appointments? Not until August 27th, which can't come soon enough.

Questions? How are other ladies dealing with the decreased appetite/crummy tummy feeling?  I have no desire to eat when I get up in the morning, but if I don't I obviously feel even more nauseated and gross.  Plus hangry.  My DH loves pointing that out too, haha.

How are you feeling? Not quite nauseated, just no desire to eat (nothing sounds good), peeing frequently especially at night, headaches, sore boobs.  The usual.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?   Firefly!

    Due date: 4/12

Any appointments? I go in on 8/27 to meet with an OB educator, which seems silly since this is my 3rd and I kinda know the drill. Sometime after that will be me by first Dr. Appt.

    Questions? Hmm, none right now.

How are you feeling? Very tired all the time, but that’s about it. And sore boobs. Nausea kicked in at 6 and 7 weeks with my last two so assuming it’s coming soon.

What’s your favorite show to binge watch?
I binged on Afflicted over the weekend. New docuseries on Netflix that I found fascinating.

  • Due date: 4/10

Any appointments? 8/16. Three more days!

Questions? Will I ever be able to get a normal amount of sleep again?

How are you feeling? Fine, honestly. A little nauseous, my back hurts and I’m exhausted. My poor boobs are hating stairs and speed bumps. I really just feel like I have a hangover.

What's your favorite show to binge watch? I binged Queer Eye over the weekend and cried during every episode!

  • Due date: 4/10
Any appointments? Not until the 23rd
Questions? Anyone find any nausea cures yet?
How are you feeling? Waves of nausea but otherwise ok.
What's your favorite show to binge watch? Gilmore Girls
  • Due date: 4/8

Any appointments? Forever away on 8/28

Questions? None ATM. @kangstadt, I haven't felt much like eating either but I've been able to choke down a smoothie with protein powder and cocoa. Lots of calories without much prep effort and opportunity to be repulsed.

How are you feeling? Freaking tired. I'm flying to visit out-of-state family on late Friday night. I booked the trip before I knew I was pregnant and thought "pssh, whatever, it's late and I'll be tired but it'll be fine."  Really regretting that decision right now.

What's your favorite show to binge watch? Arrested Development, it always makes me laugh!

  • Due date: 4/11, but I expect that to change whenever I get a dating scan. I have super irregular cycles and DS’s due date got changed by almost 2 weeks after his first ultrasound.

Any appointments?: First appointment with OB tomorrow (8/14)! My OB is so supportive and while I’m excited to find out that everything is progressing well medically, I’m think I’m actually more excited to share the news with someone who knows me. We’re waiting to tell our friends and family for as long as possible, so it’ll be nice to talk openly about it with her and the nurses.

    Questions?: None right now

How are you feeling?: Physically fine, but I’m having trouble dealing with my emotions. One of my first clues that I was pregnant was my anxiety increased, and one of the ways it manifests itself is through rage. Last night I screamed at my son because he was rolling around while I was trying to change his diaper. I felt so bad about it (he thought it was funny) and thankfully DH came to the rescue, but I hate that I get that way. I’ve got an appointment with my therapist on 8/31.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?: I love baking shows! Great British Baking Show, Nailed It, Sugar Rush, Cupcake Wars, anything like that. DS has an egg allergy so I have to bake a lot of things from scratch. I’m not nearly as good as the people on these shows (except for Nailed It) but I’ve picked up a few tricks from watching them.
  • @sdelg09, nope, but you'll learn how to cope with less sleep!

@missmay55, I haven't been super nauseous yet, but a lot of people have been saying sniff lemon-scented things or try tea with ginger.  Both are supposed to help calm nausea.

@thurstober, I think I'm going to have to suck it up and buy more protein powder to start doing that.  We're out of the good kind of protein powder, and I have been able to make myself drink smoothies that I've purchased, so it probably saves money in the long run to just get the powder.  Do you have any favorite brands?

@wearegroot, my anxiety presents as anger a lot of the time also.  I had a really hard time dealing with it postpartum with my son.  It's great that you're aware and have an appointment with a therapist!  It's definitely hard to deal with the guilt after snapping, though.  I'm the same way.

  • I'm looking forward to hearing about everyone's appointments!

    Due date
    : 4/12

Any appointments?  Thursday with my doc.

    Questions? Nope.

How are you feeling? I'm back to work after a week and a half vacation so I'm not happy, tired, achy...hard to tell if it's a symptom or just work.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?  I can binge easy shows like The Office, Brooklyn99, Parks and Rec, 30 Rock all day every day.
    Me: 31
    H: 36
    L & N twin girls: 3yo. Born at 30 weeks. 2 month NICU stay

  • Kangstadt (for some reason I can’t tag anyone), somehow I missed your binge watch show the first time I scrolled through. DS’s name is Malcolm ;-)
  • @kangstadt Probably the wrong way to go, but carbs make me feel better.  Looking at like grilled chicken or veggies just make me want to puke!
@mermaidca I'm back to work today after vacation as well and it suuuucked getting out of bed this morning!
@sdelg09 Apparently pregnancy insomnia is a thing! I had it with my son and I was told Benadryl was safe to take so I was taking that for a bit in an attempt to get more sleep - it didn't do much for me but you could try that!
@missmay55 My cousin used ginger candy and swore by it - I think they're on Amazon and called tummy drops.  I'm going to give it a shot, figure it can't hurt!

    Due date: 4/11

Any appointments? Had our first ultrasound this morning! Everything looks good so far, she said we probably missed seeing a heartbeat by like a day! Booooo. But we saw our little bean!  We made an appt for next Wednesday, but we messed up with my husband's schedule so we need to reschedule for Monday.

    Questions

How are you feeling? Well I officially puked today. So fantastic uggghhhhhh  got a sample of meds to help with that, hoping it works!

What's your favorite show to binge watch?  Anything true crime related - I love the ID channel!

    Due date? 4/11

Any appointments? I have my first appointment on Thursday (8/16) and I’m freaking out!! First time momma with literally no idea of what to expect or how to prepare.

questions? Anything in particular that is important to ask in my first appt on Thursday? I’m pretty clueless. Also, opionions on OB vs Midwife??

how are you feeling? Pretty good actually! Fairly tired and not a great appetite. But I’ve only had a few moments of nausea so I’m grateful for that. I’m so excited for this journey!!

Whats your favorite show to binge watch? Always Gilmore girls or how I met your mother
  • @b9315 If you can write down your health history and any relevant family health history before your appointment, that will help, because you’ll be asked and it’s hard to remember everything. Also write down any medications you’re taking. As far as questions to ask, just ask about any restrictions (food, medications, exercise, etc). I suggest making a note on your phone where you can write down questions as you think of them to ask at subsequent appointments, because for some reason when you get into that office you forget everything!
  • @wearegroot this is super helpful!! Thank you. I will stay making notes in a google doc
  • @wearegroot, pleeease tell me his nickname is Mal!  All the heart eyes.

@50Wife, I've been trying my best to avoid carbs, but you're right, they're the only thing I seem to be craving right now.

Jealous of all the ladies with appointments this week!  I'm so impatient, haha.

  • Due date: 4/8

Any appointments? 8/20 (one more week!)

Questions? I think I'm going to start a thread on what experienced STM+ Moms wish they had known. There's one for new moms but I want to know what I need to know doing this for a second time...

    How are you feeling? TIRED!

What's your favorite show to binge watch? The office, parks and rec, HIMYM, Gilmore Girls... Though I'm currently binging Hart of Dixie
  • @kangstadt Same here, but I don't know what else to eat! I had eggs and some potatoes for breakfast today - normally I'd just do eggs, but I needed the potatoes for something heavier.
  • @50Wife, yep, I gave in and had pancakes with my eggs this morning.  I think as long as I'm choosing healthy grains in moderation, it'll hopefully be balanced enough.  (I.e, not like the half bag of Doritos I ate the other night...)

  • @kangstadt When I'm not feeling lazy and I'm actually in the mood to pull out the blender and figure out my fruits and such, I use Bob's Red Mill soy protein powder. More regularly, I use vanilla Huel which is kinda like Soylent. I drink it once a day for convenience to make sure I hit my protein requirements since I don't eat meat and dairy.

  • @thurstober, thanks, I'll have to look into it!  I'm vegetarian, and lately milk has been making my stomach upset so I'm hoping I don't have to cut out dairy also.  We usually get Optimum Nutrition Hydrowhey online (but obviously that has dairy...).
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kangstadt sadly Mal hasn’t stuck as a nickname, but I do call him Captain Mal sometimes.

I’m struggling with the nutrition aspect, too. DS has an egg allergy and dairy sensitivity (it gives him reflux...which usually ends up in the form of vomit on MY clothes). Technically I CAN eat those things, but I don’t like keeping food he can’t eat in the house and I definitely won’t eat anything he can’t when he’s around. I tend to do a bagel with peanut butter for breakfast, and I eat lots of fruit during the day, but I’m worried about getting enough protein and calcium.
  • @wearegroot, can you do oatmeal for breakfast or protein pancakes with dairy free milk?  Dairy sensitivities are no fun.  My nephew has one also, and he's still breastfeeding so my sister is dairy-free currently.  It's definitely a struggle, I don't think I would get enough protein without yogurt and eggs.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kangstadt oatmeal is a good idea, and I’ll have to look into the pancakes! I usually get stuck in ruts and routines with food and forget what else is out there.
  • @kangstadt You bet! I had some weird stomach issues after I had my now 2-year-old and it improved drastically after I cut out dairy. I'd always thought lactose intolerance was something you either had or you didn't, but apparently you can develop it later in life. Who knew?

@wearegroot There are some really good dairy free milks out there. It's taken trial-and-error but my son really likes regular/chocolate cashew milk. My Target just started stocking some Elmhurst farms stuff and the chocolate peanut milk is awesome in overnight oats.

  • I feel you on the routine thing, @wearegroot, I get so sick of eggs sometimes.  It's good to mix it up.

@thurstober, I totally think my mom giving birth to 8 kids caused/made worse her lactose intolerance and IBS.  I had more bathroom issues after having my DS also, although I think I just have a sensitivity, not a true dairy allergy.

  • Due date: 4/8

Any appointments? First one is on the 20th but it's basically a background, we don't have scheduled u/s yet

    Questions? None at the moment

How are you feeling? Today I was pretty nauseous with decreased appetite, sore bbs on and off. I've had to keep saltines by my desk and try to take a bunch of small sips of water.

What's your favorite show to binge watch? One Tree Hill, I've probably gone through the seasons 3 times at this point. I know that's going to be my nursing show when this little one comes.

  • Due date: April 8

    Any appointments?
Wed Aug 22  I have an ultrasound. It feels like such a long ways away lol
    Questions

    How are you feeling?
    EXHAUSTED! Also easily irritable
What's your favorite show to binge watch?
Currently I’m watching The Good Wife
All time favorites: Gilmore Girls, Friends, and Greys Anatomy

  • Due date: 4/11

Any appointments? My first ultrasound is on the 23rd!

    Questions? Is it April yet?

How are you feeling? Horrible. I have a permanent metallic taste in my mouth, I’m constipated, I can’t stop eating, I’m ridiculously tired, and every time I try to work out I swell up. This is completely different from my first pregnancy.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?

The office, I can watch that show over and over and over and never get sick of it.
  • Due date: 11th April (least till my first scan!)

Any appointments? Seeing my obstetrician for first time 4th September- forever away!!

Questions? I am feeling so impatient over everything, I am so excited. Any tips on things to do that might make the time not drag on so long?

How are you feeling? Last week I was nauseous but thankfully that seems to have subsided for now. My lower back has been aching severely and I have had light cramping for last week and a half which really worried me at first. Yesterday I was so exhausted I have skipped gym for last two days and went to bed super early, so feeling better today.

What's your favorite show to binge watch?

Depends on my mood! Currently rewatching Grey's Anatomy from the start again. Classics to binge are always Friends, Gossip Girl, Gilmore Girls.
  • Due Date:  4/11

Any appointments? First one is 9/26, aka 50 years away lol

    Questions? Nope

How are you feeling? Doing alright, getting more frequent waves of nausea but nothing too crazy. Very tired and emotional. @wearegroot I have always had anxiety and when it's bad it comes out in full rage as well. I hate the way it makes me feel. When I get overwhelmed I just get so angry. So trying to keep that in check these days with workouts and quiet time here and there to calm myself.

What's your favorite show to binge watch? Seinfeld all the time. And 30 Rock.

Just left my first appointment. My midwife told me to take Benadryl for my anxiety, so..... that’s a thing.
She also scheduled me for an ultrasound in 2 weeks. She said having an ultrasound at 6 weeks could potentially make me more anxious. While I get her point of view, I think having to wait 2 weeks is absolute torture. I have no issue with her, and I’ll definitely be sticking with her. I’m just bummed. I should have asked beforehand if there would be an ultrasound.

    Edited for typo.
  • @sdelg09, ugh, that's gotta be torture to wait another two weeks.  Did she use a Doppler or anything to listen for a heartbeat?

My DH takes benadryl to sleep... I don't approve, but hey.  Whatever works, I guess?  I haven't had my first appointment yet to see if my doctor is okay with me staying on sertraline (more of an antidepressant than anti anxiety), but I figure keeping myself mentally healthy at this point is healthy for all involved.  I hope you get some relief from your anxiety soon!  Does yoga help?
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @kangstadt no, for the same reason she didn’t do an ultrasound. Now that I’ve had time to breathe and really think about it, it makes sense. She said so far everything else is fine, so I’m going to try and believe that.
She did say that if my anxiety doesn’t improve within the month, she’ll prescribe me actual anxiety meds. Yoga does help! I always feel a bit more relaxed afterwards.
  • @sdelg09, glad that yoga helps!  I haven't had a chance to get to a real class in awhile, but I try to use the DownDog app sometimes.

I keep telling myself if I don't have any obvious reason to worry, I should try to relax, but easier said than done.  Looking forward to both of our upcoming ultrasounds!
