Ashkenazi Jews and recurrent miscarriage

I just had my second miscarriage at ten weeks. My first was at 14 weeks. The karyotype came back normal. My husband and I are both Ashkenazi Jews and I was wondering if anyone else on this site is an Ashkenazi Jew with recurrent miscarriage and if it's related to one of the genetic diseases that Ashkenazi Jews are more likely to be prone to. We did around ten tests before we got married and they were okay, but they offer a lot more tests since then. I'm curious if anyone else had this issue. Does anyone know if any of the Ashkenazi genetic diseases cause miscarriage?

baila1  I'm sorry for your losses. I am not an Ashkenazi Jew, but I have had 4 MCs and both Reproductive Endocrinologists (REs) I've gone to (as well as the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist, and others), have all asked me questions about my background and they all definitely had questions about being Jewish. So I know there are some genetic diseases relating to that and reproductive issues. Unfortunately, I can not be of any more help because this is not something I know anything about. Can you maybe check at your synagogue or see if there's an online support/information network for Ashkenazi Jews TTC? Good luck to you!

    MC #1: D&C Oct 23, 2015 (7.5 weeks)
    MC #2: July 1, 2016 (5.5 weeks)
    MC #3: October 17, 2016 (CP)
    RE #1: RPL testing November 2016-January 2017
    MC #4: Feb. 28, 2017 (CP)
    RE #2: Additional RPL testing March-November 2017
    MC #5: January 2019 (6.5 weeks)

    RE #3: More testing 2023.
Egg Retrieval Sept/Oct 2023, 2 good embryos after PGT-A testing.
    Surgery for endometriosis January 2024
Lupron Depo March 2024.  Benched 3 months.  Hopefully FET after that.

Hi @baila1 have you done genetic testing for the jewish prevelant diseases like from Jscreen? It’s very affordable and easy to do. It’s a great place to start if you haven’t already. Good luck!

My husband and I are both Ashkenazi Jews. I have had 3 nonconsecutive miscarriages. We tested negative as carriers for Jewish genetic diseases. I don't think my most recent second trimester loss has anything at all in common with the first two early losses. We are waiting for test results to come back. We also have two living, healthy children.
