Praying you get great results today from your MRI. It can be scary to hear news like that, at our anatomy scan and then over and over again we heard how our son wouldn't make it and it was so hard. Now he's almost 2 weeks old and though we had a couple of humps, he's growing well and stable in the NICU. This sounds crazy but the more you stay positive and don't stress the better he will get. I'm sorry you and your family are having to go through this.
Finally got kiddos picked up and had supper out at BIL and families place, so just now home and getting a minute.
UPDATE: The MRI confirmed the cerebellum is under developed. The neurologist seemed to say it was on the more extreme side of things as in, not much. There will likely be quite a few complications from this, the main things being coordination, balance and to some point, muscle tone. That can affect walking, and even breathing and eating and speech, and possibly learning difficulties.
Nothing is very certain, because no two cases are ever alike. The most severe could mean a wheelchair and needing assistance breathing, the least could mean little extra help is needed. We won't really know what all will be needed until the baby is born and needs it. The baby will be born in Denver at the Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children, and it will just all depend on what baby needs if we'll end up in the NICU or not.
We'll go for more ultrasounds but no more MRI until after baby is born.
We can hope for the best, but it looks like a long, hard road ahead. The genetic blood test that we had some came back today and it was all negative for any abnormalities. The genetic specialist we saw today did say though that it is just a small drop in the bucket, and nothing is ever 100%. Any more genetic testing done will wait till after the baby is born, but we'll see once we get there what all we want or need to do.
Thanks sooo much for all the loving thoughts, prayers, and creepy internet hugs! It means so much to me and just squeezes my heart a little, in a good way. @princessandthegator thanks for sharing that with me. It really, really, helped to read and truly made me feel better after a discouraging day! Eta: my phone is being weird sometimes and won't let me love it some of your posts... But know I love every one!
I’m glad you got some answers, even if they weren’t quite what you’d like to hear. Hopefully baby will have more mild issues, but you have the strength to deal with the hand you are dealt. Even if it doesn’t always feel like it.
Ill be keeping you, your family, and baby in my thoughts.
My livetit is a hug. I'm sorry it wasn't more encouraging news, but at least there's some answers. I'll be keeping you guys in my thoughts and prayers. Hopefully it's on the mild side.
Take each day as it comes. Some days may bring wonderful surprises and others might feel like set backs. Don’t forget to love and care for yourself as you love and care for this little one.
Thank you for taking the time to update us. I'm glad you got some answers and can begin to prepare for this road ahead. Prayers for continued strength for you and baby on this journey. We are all here for you
Thinking of you @coffee-saur! Try to stay strong and positive for the best outcome. Hopefully it will be on the milder side of things and your little one will be ok.
@coffee-saur thank you so very much for having the strength to share with us. I know this board and these ladies and our creepy internet relationship helped me immensely through my pregnancy. It's gonna help you as well. From what it sounds like they won't know what's going on with the little one until they're here. I'll be praying for you guys that this ends up on the minor side and it just means a few years of therapy and supplemental care. I keep thinking that in a few years we're going to look back at these boards and be like "I can't believe I wrote this about THIS CRAZY, WILD, HEALTHY child."
so sorry to hear of all you and your family are going through. thank you for sharing and updating us. I know that must be extremely tough to share. We will be praying for continued strength and faith for you and your family! ❤
