1st Trimester

Morning Sickness Already?!

I got my BFP yesterday. I have been nauseous all morning, and I just started gagging recently. I have also had a bit of a headache today, (nothing severe) and super tiredness. I am only 3w4d!! This CAN'T be morning sickness already can it?! With my first pregnancy, I didn't get any nausea until 6 weeks, which is when I thought all MS usually started.

Has anyone else had MS this early in pregnancy? If this is truly MS already, I hate to think what the rest of the pregnancy will be like...

Re: Morning Sickness Already?!

  • I had something similar happen to me, and it turned out to just be a stomach bug (thankfully..?)  The nausea subsided until 6w exactly, then hit again.

MS at 3w is unusual, but it's not impossible.  As the girls around here like to say, if you're pregnant enough to turn a test, you're pregnant enough for symptoms.

    Anyway, congrats on your BFP!

  • @Jessie42613 Thanks! It really is strange, because it does feel a lot like MS type I had with my first. I don't have any other tummy issues or anything. MH says that I am having a "placebo" affect, and says I am only feeling nauseous because I know I am pregnant. (Which who knows...could be true? I don't know. But I called him a jerk when he said it. hahaha!). Because I do NOT want to be sick this early! When I changed my son's diaper today, I gagged BAD. And that has never happened to me before.

@Whitmore1027 I get intense morning sickness nausea and boob pain from h-e-double hockey sticks before I can turn a test positive. Happened both times. So I feel like heck for a bit before I test, and I definitely am feeling it after that test. And I test early. If someone told me it was a placebo effect I'd barf right in their face.
  • Mine started at 4 weeks. . I'm 6 weeks tomorrow and I'm already so sick of vomiting up everything!!! Having to tell people much sooner than I did with my son.  There's no getting around this constant nausea :/
  • [Lurking] Yes, you can definitely have nausea just as you’re getting a positive urine test!

I know this doesn’t help to hear, but it’s usually a reassuring sign for a healthy pregnancy.  Sucks to feel crappy so early, though.  Hopefully the next couple of months breeze by.  And there’s always Zofran, which was a lifesaver for me during my last two pregnancies.

  • @mill1020 that is  false to say MS is a sign of a healthy pregnancy. please don't give out false information.

  • I’m sorry.  I did say “usually” but you are correct—it may not have any bearing on what happens later in the pregnancy.

I had no nausea and lacked most symptoms with both my pregnancies. If someone told me symptoms were a good sign I’d be stressing. All pregnancies are different. Lacking or presence of symptoms does not mean much in some cases.

Agreed. With DS I had zero morning sickness and he's a happy healthy little dude.

  • And just my 2 cents (though I can see it’s all settled) that I’ve had 4 pregnancies, HG and 4 (tw) miscarriages
my doc said it’s just how some ppl react to the hormones.
Sorry for anyone suffering with ms.... ugh. I feel your pain
  • I'm now 8w5d and MS is still strong. I feel worse in the mornings, and in the evenings before dinner. I have to take Diclegis regularly to keep any food down. And even on the meds, some days it's hard to eat and I'm still vomiting.

It's definately strange how different each pregnancy can be from the same person. I did have MS pretty bad with my first, but it was just constant nausea, not really any vomiting like this time. I was worried about it turning into HG. But thank goodness for the Diclegis to help.

  • Omg this is me except I tested at 3w2d and got some nasty morning sickness among other things. I cant wait till it gets better but it's probably gonna get worst first.
  • My doc told me that in the 2nd pregnancy, all the symptoms come a lot quicker. I'm only 6 weeks with my 2nd baby and already feel nausea at times and I'm constantly tired no matter how early I get to bed!! She also said that lower back pains will be more frequent so need to be prepared for that! I have a toddler so that doesn't help much. Just take it one day at a time
  • I am now 18 weeks, and I still have BAD nausea, and vomiting. I threw up this morning...lovely. This 2nd pregnancy has been a lot more rough based on my nausea. I couldn't afford Diclegis anymore, but for those of you with bad morning sickness, the B6/Unisom combo has worked very well for me, and I am still taking it twice a day. For the most part I feel tons better, but if I skip a dose, I am gagging at everything.

  • So sorry to hear you're feeling sick so soon!  I'm a little further than you (8 weeks) but honestly I had some mild nausea - just a weird feeling coming and going - around 4 weeks.  This is also my second pregnancy. With my son, I definitely was feeling some nausea as early as 4-5 weeks looking back, but it wasn't nearly as bad as this time.

You might just be feeling more gas and indigestion so far, too?  Hope it stays manageable and mild!!!!!
