Re: Weekly Randoms 7/30
So my little one must be coming soon! Lost the plug over the weekend, been having contractions both Braxton Hicks and the really mild cramp like ones. So I'm pretty sure I'm starting to dialate. And he's dropped really really low! Increased lower back pain and my hips are definitely lose. Just walking around I find myself having to stop way more or grab onto something. Thankfully my breasts have been leaky for a time so when he comes I hope it'll be easy to start breastfeeding. Fingers crossed.
Our bags will be all packed and ready by tonight. My mom told me she thinks he's coming within the next week and a half. I feel like she's right! I'm 35+1 today, but he measures a month bigger (above the 98th percentile). I have always felt like my due date was wrong. We'll see!
If this ends ends up being it, good luck! I just don’t want you to assume that it’s definitely baby time and be bummed if it isn’t time.
I started making a list of stuff for my hospital bag, but getting the motivation to pack everything is a different story. I packed baby's bag but ended up taking it all out to start over. I did start to really clean, starting with my bedroom so I guess that's a plus. Did I mention that I only have about a week and half left of work!?!?! 5 weeks and counting till baby.
@fftm9318 With my first pregnancy my son dropped and engaged at 28 weeks. Started having dozens of contractions per day at 32 weeks, measured a month ahead the whole time even though I was secure in dates. Plug loss started at 35 weeks exactly, full blown labor at 35+4. Born that evening. I was born a month early at 35 weeks, so was my mom-we were both small (4 lbs 12 oz for her and 5 lbs 5 oz for me). I wasn't worried about having him that early, but I should have been.
He came out breathing, and large (6 lbs 11 oz) for his size, but was not ready for the outside world. He became unable to breathe very quickly, and was a a full ventilator for an entire week. Not just oxygen support, but the machine had to do all of the breathing work. Then a week on CPAP and he was finally allowed to try food by mouth. He developed an oral aversion though in that first week with constant feeding tube placements, etc, so it took 2 weeks to teach him how to eat. It was by awful time, and he's been in and out of different therapies since then. He's healthy now, but likely our first six months would have been so much easier (bad reflux from stomach being immature, think eating every 90 min all day and night for months) if he had stayed in.
I started threatening early labor again last Friday, at 34 weeks exactly. Still having 70-100 contractions per day, most around 10-15 min apart all day long. I have terrible SPD that causes pain with every single step I take, and I'm chasing an active 2 year old. And I'm still wishing desperately to keep this baby in until at least 37 weeks (17 days!!). I'd willing to go longer too, but given family history it's unlikely.
Either way, hoping for a preemie isn't a great idea.

@lpq0309 I've been slowly packing our hospital bag for a month. We're using my carrier on travel bag so my stuff, baby stuff, and some of H's stuff is in there + snacks and drinks. I keep it by the door, partly just in case and partly so when I get something else for it (hey mesh undies!) I can just pop them in real quick.

Gee. I thought I remembered more. But I do know they were about to get busted. I guess it's an excuse to watch it again? Although last season wasn't really my fave. We'll see what this one has in store.
