January 2019 Moms

Any teen moms?

hello everyone, I’m 16 and I’ll be 16 weeks tomorrow. I know this situation isn’t the best and a lot of people find it horrible. However, I’m trying to move past the judgements. My ex isn’t involved. This is my first pregnancy and I still have awful morning sickness but just started my junior year. Any advice? I’m honestly scared and feel alone. I don’t know how to get through this. I would like any and all advice.

Re: Any teen moms?

  • Not a teen Mom, but just wanted to send a little support; my mom was a teen mom. Take one day at a time...do you have family support?

  • Change your user name so that you're not a knottie, and join in the weekly discussions and check ins. I don't know of any other teen moms here, but you can still find support in this group. I'm sorry that you're still having morning sickness. I'm still having some nausea, too, at almost 16 weeks. I feel better when I eat small meals every few hours. Do you have family support?

  • Hey there! Please join in as there is a lot of good information on here for any mom. Being so young I know it can be even scarier, it's great that you have reached out and found this community. I am also not a teen Mom but I do know a couple mom's that were. Is your family supportive? I feel like it's important to find at least one adult in your life that you can turn to. I know for my best friend in high school, it was a teacher at School. She actually had a group of girls that were all pregnant so they had each other and they were all able to keep their pregnancies a secret for a long time. Are you going to your regular school or is there a school in your district that young mother's can attend?
  • I'm not a teen mom  but my best friend was pregnant in highschool.  At lot of people will judge but moms in general are judged for every decision.  I would say lean on the family and friends that are being supportive you may lose some friends that dont support you but that happens to older moms too. Maybe try to find other moms due around the same time that live near you they can offer advice.  Also this forum is great for connecting with other moms and getting advice.  My friend went to school part time after she had her baby and her family helped her through it with babysitting etc.  She later went on to marry a nice guy and have 3 more children with him and he adopted her first child.
  • Not a teen mom either, but I just wanted to say that this group has so much great information and opportunities for support. Being scared is a completely normal reaction to pregnancy no matter how old you are or what your situation... lord knows I’ve felt scared during this pregnancy.

As for the morning sickness, have you tried sea bands or sour candy? Sour jolly ranchers saved me in the early weeks. Some friends of mine swear by sea bands and they aren’t something that would stand out to others too much or cause problems if your teachers have rules about eating in class. Try not to go too long without eating as an empty stomach can make the nausea worse.

You can definitely do this! I hope you stick around and join in.
