I'm probably going to tell people way earlier than is considered "safe." I have such a hard time with secrets, and with my first we told everyone right away at 7 weeks cause I felt I needed the family support. I'm trying to hold out for 10 weeks before telling the family, but I already spilled to my two best friends!
@kangstadt yeah I'm sure that I won't last long. I have a girls trip planned with all my female inlaws in 2 weeks, and I have weddings the first three weekends in August. It's gonna be hard to deflect drinks for 3/4 of the month.
@kangstadt H and I were talking about this last night. We will be telling close family early on. They are the same people we would turn to for support if anything were to happen.
Me: 31 H: 36 L & N twin girls: 3yo. Born at 30 weeks. 2 month NICU stay BFP Aug 2018: EDD April 2019
@kangstadt me too. I'm fact, I only lasted ONE day. Hahaha. We were going to wait... but then the Dr did a blood test and I got so excited we told immediate family and already a few friends. I will try to wait until 10 weeks for the rest of the world...ha

I've already told a ton of people. I figure if I'd be willing to tell them if the pregnancy ends up not being viable, no reason I can't tell them I'm pregnant.
I don't necessarily find this to be unpopular, but I'm of the school "you do you" when it comes to life, pregnancy is no different.
If you want to eat the salami, eat it. Have the coffee, or not. If you want to tell the world your news at six weeks-that's awesome! If you want to wait until 39 weeks, have at it. Plan to exclusively breastfeed? HOORAY! Choosing formula from the get-go? Nice work!
I think with most things in life, there is so much surrounding pregnancy and parenting that is unnecessarily judged. Maybe it's the veteran mom in me..I just don't have the energy for people to be rude about others' choices.

Yes - firmly in the "you do you boo boo" within reason camp.
I'm going to scoop the cat's litter box. My husband has allergies and herniated discs and it's just not pretty when he does the chore. First off, there is no freakin' way I haven't been exposed to toxoplasmosis yet growing up with indoor/outdoor cats and regular litter box duty. My current indoor cat eats only fully cooked canned chicken. And I wear a mask and gloves. We aren't going to tell my MIL, who would be very upset if she knew.
@loveanddatadriven, I had a doctor (or possibly nurse practioner/resident, I can't remember) try to convince me to get rid of ALL of the cats between my then-boyfriend's house and my house when I was expecting my DS. Yet having glasses of wine every week would be perfectly okay. Needless to say, I did not get rid of our kitties.
As long as you're taking precautions, it shouldn't be too risky. My sister worked with a vet tech who refused to wear protection when doing xrays even after finding out she was pregnant - that's just pretty silly.
