How many weeks are you? 10 weeks 3 days

How large is your SCH? Mine has grown from the last time from 1.3 cm to 2.4 cm.

Have you had any bleeding/spotting? I haven't had any bleeding since my large bleed last Sunday that sent me to the ER.  I had an appointment yesterday and Doc said because of the placement of the SCH right next to my cervix that I should expect to bleed again.

Do you have any restrictions or treatment recommendations? I'm not allowed to workout, lift anything, have sex, yadda yadda yadda..

Anything else you'd like to share? I'm going on a road trip to Myrtle Beach on Friday which will be a 12 hour drive for us.  I'm looking forward to the trip but I feel like I could have a big bleed at any time and that terrifies me.  I'm literally planning to wear depends to bed so in case I bleed in the middle of the night I won't terrify my children.  I'm thankfully going to be there with 2 medical professionals (my mom and aunt) but I'm going to have to tell everyone what's going on with me.

How many weeks are you? I am 9w4d.

How large is your SCH? I’m honestly not sure what the size is. The tech and OB never actually told me. They just told me it was there and what I can expect.

Have you had any bleeding/spotting? Shockingly, I haven’t. I didn’t with my last pregnancy, either, but I have had some cramping.

Do you have any restrictions or treatment recommendations? They didn’t give me any restrictions at this point, but I’m still trying to just take it easy. The doctor pretty much said there really isn’t anything they can do about it and it’s fairly common. She just said to try not to worry about it and call her if I have any concerns.

Anything else you'd like to share? As if the SCH isn’t enough to worry about right now, I also have a large 7cm cyst on my left ovary that I have no symptoms of. I also apparently have a UTI that I also don’t have any symptoms of. I just started on macrobid yesterday. I really hope these next three weeks before I see this LO again go smoothly and quickly. I’m so much more nervous this time than I was for the last two.

@Erinm278 Which part of Myrtle Beach are you guys staying? I live in SC (about 2.5hrs away) and we were just there last month for our summer vacation! The beach always relaxes me and it’s a great place to take the kids. I hope you guys have a wonderful, relaxing vacation!

@PurplePoppy424 I'm sorry you have to deal with a cyst on top of everything.  We absolutely love MB and we go everything other year.  I think this will be my 10th vacation there!  My parents own a time share at the Marriott Ocean Watch Villas at Grand Dunes.  It's a super chill vaca but everyone in my family goes.  We have 2 suites and ours will be our family of 4 and my brother and his wife and 2 year old.  The other suite has the no-kid party people haha!

How many weeks are you? 16+1

How large is your SCH? I think I over heard them say it was 3cm.

    Have you had any bleeding/spotting?
I had a lot of unexpected  and scary bleeding at the beginning. Started at 7+3 saw the Dr a week early and diagnosed with " larger than normal" sch. Thankfully bleeding has stopped but I do have spotting about once a week.
Do you have any restrictions or treatment recommendations?
Almost 10w of pelvic rest. I put myself on light duty oat work. I have had lots of extra ultrasounds.
Anything else you'd like to share?
Because of the size of mine, he's not expecting it to be gone until 20w. I have an ultrasound Next week to check on the Sch.

How many weeks are you? 11+something ... I’ll be 12 on Friday

How large is your SCH? 4.4 x 2.9 cm

    Have you had any bleeding/spotting?
I sure have. On Wednesday I bled a ton. I was at work and thought I’d peed my pants. I stood up to go to the bathroom and it was a stream down my leg, dripping on the floor. My shorts were completely soaked in blood. I ran to the bathroom and the toilet filled with blood. I just kind of shoved toilet paper in my underwear (not my best moment) and ran to change into some extra workout shorts I happened to have. Wrapped a sweatshirt around my waist and sprinted to my car to call my doctor.

Do you have any restrictions or treatment recommendations?
Just pelvic rest, no exercise, no sex, can’t lift anything heavy other than my son, can’t travel more than an hour or two away from my doctors office. My doctor was so comforting though and reassured me that I didn’t do anything to cause it and I can’t do anything to stop it from happening again. She did say it may bleed again, in which case I need to come straight in.

Anything else you'd like to share?
Just anxious. I don’t have another appointment until August 10, so I’m just holding on (and wearing a pad, just in case) until then.

@BourbonBiscuits sorry about your bleed at work. I had one like that but it was in the middle of the night. I woke up because I thought I had peed myself but realized I was bleeding. It was pouring down my leg onto the floor  (thank God for tile!)

@gorgeousariel it was harder than I thought being that terrified and vulnerable at work, but I actually work at the middle school I attended as a kid, so it’s not the first time I’ve cried in that bathroom lol. Isn’t it funny how our brains just assume it’s pee?
  • Options
@BourbonBiscuits yep and that's exactly what it felt like when my water broke with DD.
  • Options
@gorgeousariel I was induced with DS and they broke my water with that little crochet hook. It felt exactly the same. So weird. It’s like that weird warm liquid feeling. Ugh.

@erinm278- have the best time in myrtle beach! I totally get being scared about having another bleed, but hopefully not and at least you have a "reason" for it so maybe it won't be quite as terrifying as the first time.

@purplepoppy424- sorry you are dealing with cysts and UTI, as well as the SCH. I actually have two cysts and a UTI as well (second in 3 weeks). Feels like my body is falling apart!! Hope all our issues resolve themselves ASAP!

@gorgeousariel- thats good to hear you are getting lots of extra u/s bc of the SCH. I am hoping to keep getting alot as well (I was spoiled and got them weekly from my RE through week 9).

@bourbonbiscuits- wow, that bleed does sound so terrifying! if you keep spotting, maybe they can squeeze you in for another quick check before 8/10?

How many weeks are you? 10 weeks tomorrow!

How large is your SCH? Mine seems to shift shapes between 2cmx4cm and 3cmx3ck.

Have you had any bleeding/spotting? Yes red and brown from 5-7 weeks, then nothing, and then a little brown the last few days. I hope this means its starting to resolve itself, but I do feel lucky it hasn't been heavier given the large size.

Do you have any restrictions or treatment recommendations? Yes- pelvic rest and no heavy lifting and no exercising (not that I can do much of anything right now with the nausea anyways :))

Anything else you'd like to share? I started out with twins, but lost one at 7 weeks. The SCH may have played a part, we just don't know. So between my long IF history (in my siggy), the SCH/spotting, and losing one of the twins, its been a rough month! Praying our one baby is doing well and pushing for an u/s at my first OB appointment on Thursday.

How many weeks are you? 9 weeks

How large is your SCH? At 6w3d when I had my scan it was classed as medium or 50% of the placenta

Have you had any bleeding/spotting? I did until 8 weeks now nothing

Do you have any restrictions or treatment recommendations? No, my Gp had talked to a specialist and they don't generally recommend it here (NZ). So its just wait and see.

Anything else you'd like to share? I have previously had a mmc discovered at 9 weeks so I'm not sure what is worrying me more the SCH or that I won't know if there is even a healthy fetus until 12 weeks.

@BourbonBiscuits that really sucks that your bleed happened at work.  Mine happened in the middle of the night..I'm wearing a heavy flow pad 24/7 now just in case too.

Does anyone know about location of SCHs? My dad (of all people) asked where mine was located and I have no idea. According to his "nurse friends" (okay dad), the location is really important to the viability of the baby. He got the same way when I had placenta previa with my first, so I think it's just how he deals with the stress of his daughter being pregnant lol

After my dating US the nurse called and told me I had a small SCH but said not to worry as it's fairly normal.  She didn't say anything about restrictions, size, etc.  I have my first appt on Monday and I plan to ask more questions but can anyone further along/had in a previous pregnancy give a little more insight?  Do you typically need extra ultrasounds to check on the SCH? Is pelvic rest common or just dependent on size/location?

I had a small one at 6w2d and was told no restrictions unless I bled. At 10w2d (today), mine is gone entirely. I had a follow up not to check the SCH but to check baby’s growth due to extreme vomiting/weight loss and wonky electrolytes due to vomiting.

Based on friends who have had them, restrictions and follow up depends on size, location, your history, and whether or not it’s symptomatic.

@BourbonBiscuits I know mine is right above my cervix. She said I could have a little extra bleeding because of it's location. I'm guessing because it is right there at the opener and could get irritated the easiest.
  • Options
Mine is right on top and around one side, not sure if that is good or not.
  • Options
@BourbonBiscuits I was told mine is right on my cervix and to expect to bleed again because of the location.

@gorgeousariel @lokibear89 @Erinm278 my doctor said I could expect to bleed again, so maybe mines on my cervix too? She didn’t seem super concerned when we talked, so I’m guessing it’s located in whatever the “safest” place is. I am NOT going on google. I’ll just ask at my next appointment.

Yeah my Dr wasn't super concerned but he did put me on restrictions.  He said when the SCH is above the sac or on the side as the sac grows it is likely to absorb.  Because mine is on my cervix as the sac grows I'm likely to bleed it out.

I'm bring this thread back as it's a new month.

I had an ultrasound on Tuesday to check on my SCH. Sonographer said it was looking good.  I was actually  having a contraction right then so she switched to vaginal ultrasound to watch it more closely. After a minute or so she said she would pass the info onto the Dr and if he concerned then he would refer me to MFM for my 20w anatomy scan.

Jump to yesterday, I got a call from my Dr confirming that I knew I had been referred out. I didn't know anything about it at that point. She said to expect a call from MFM to schedule my appt.

This morning they call, and she says my appt. Is for an ultrasound and consult. I ask her  if this is regarding the contraction we witnessed and she told me it's regarding my large SCH and it's placement above the cervix.

I'm trying not to freak out as I knew all this but I was under the impression that it was healing- apparently not fast enough or good enough. I don't really know the complications/ risks of an SCH past 20w but I'm assuming it's because if I go into labor the bleed is right above my cervix. My appt. Is Aug. 23  so I have 3 weeks to " not worry".
  • Options
Ugh I’m so sorry @gorgeousariel that sounds super scary. The only way I can make myself feel better is to know that if your doctors were really concerned they’d have you in sooner than 3 weeks. Not sure if that makes you feel any peace. But it sounds like being referred to MFM (while obviously not what you want) is the right way to keep you and baby safe.
  • Options
@gorgeousariel I agree with @BourbonBiscuits the appointment would be straight away if they were super worried. Hope you can get through these few weeks relatively stress free.
  • Options
Thanks. It is a little comforting to know that they would want me in right away if it was super serious. I guess I'm just irritated at the whole thing. I was stressed because my blood work came back higher than I expected for Downs but am in the clear now with my second blood work back. Now I have this. I know relatively it's not that bad but this PG is so different from DDs.
  • Options
@gorgeousariel oh don’t get me wrong, I’d be so irritated by the assumption that you just knew about the referral and that you didn’t really get any information about the new appointment. That’d piss me off. This pregnancy for me is a a lot different than DS’s too, which makes me nervous. If I was dealing with all this and felt the same way I did with him, I’d at least feel some vague sense of normalcy

Lurking from Dec18....I’m sorry @gorgeousariel about your appointment! I hate the waiting game. I had my A/S at 19 weeks and still have a 3x3 SCH that my doctor didn’t seem super concerned about. She said it’s stable, it’s  been stable for about a month and when I deliver, if it’s still there, it will come out with everything else. Mine is behind my placenta, so maybe it is the location of yours?

@snugglyduckling25 thanks! They've told me mine was stable for about a month ( give or take) that's why I was under the impression everything was fine. I delivered DD at 37+4. Drs and I have discussed that I probably won't be full term again. So maybe it is the location and the fact that I could deliver at 36w without much question. And that may not be enough time to heal completely. Ugh I just wish I knew what they were thinking as far as that portion. I can wait 3 weeks for A/S but it's the SCH concern that has me worried.
