These have been few and far between. I thought trying to do it on a monthly basis might work out better. Feel free to share your healthy goals, meals, workouts here. I'd love an update on how everyone is doing with their fitness goals. Not a real check in, but some talking points are
-how have your workouts changed?
-what have you been up too lately?
-anything new that you've enjoyed (prenatal yoga, etc)?
-easy, healthy meals that are satisfying
And really anything! It can also totally be a place to complain.
Re: Fit Mom Friday (August Edition)
Meals have been pretty hit or miss. We eat out probably 2x a week for dinner. Usually once on the weekend and once during the week when sh*t inevitably hits the fan and I forget to plan something. My heartburn has just started to ramp up, so I am less motivated to cook meals. However I know my family doesn't deserve to survive off of frozen foods and DH works so much, so meal planning is on me.
I'm not even going to claim that I'm eating healthy. I think I've taken this pregnancy as an excuse to eat like a 5 year old - PB&J sandwiches, mac & cheese, cheeseburgers. I realize that most of my weight gain is entirely due to poor eating and is my fault. I keep trying to eat healthier (I included chopped up chicken breasts in my last batch of mac & cheese), but it's mostly crap.
The Tone It Up app has a section of prenatal workouts, and one of the founders is pregnant right now and is good about posting modifications for most moves. You can schedule classes in the app and I’ve found that has really helped me get back into a routine. The classes are usually 20-30 minutes so I feel like I’ve actually gotten a decent workout in without overdoing it. Finally feel like I’m getting some strength back!
Eating healthy is a totally different story. I can only manage carbs - toast, bagel - for breakfast - eggs make me super nauseous. Work in progress over here.
@smulrich16 good for you added chicken breast to the mac. I've definitely been super loose on my diet. My heartburn has started though, so that is kind of like a built in diet for me. I can only eat so much before the acid makes me want to puke.
Monday’s- upper body
tuesday- cardio
wed- core
thurs-full body strength
fri- leg day
Saturday- yoga and stretching, though I do yoga and stretching as a cool down after every work out
Ive been sticking to this pretty well, I do all my workouts at home, following programs and do about 30-45 mins a day.
Sciatica is making cardio and leg day rather rough though, modifying quite a bit.
Food has been ok.. way more carbs than I probably "should" be eating, but whatever. Starting to eat some veggies which have definitely not tasted as good as bagels, but I'm trying!
Diet, ummm not great. I’m craving carbs! And too lazy to make salads for lunch. I need more fresh veggies, I know, but I’m usually so spent by lunch time it’s like grilled cheese? Ok.
The last two weeks I was not feeling great and took time to rest more than anything. The heat is killing me but I am determined to get back at it. Today I did two miles on lunch (jog two minutes fast walk two minutes back and forth) which took me 30 minutes. I'm so slow but my lower back does not enjoy jogging. Also I am going to the gym for xit (interval training) tonight.
My goal is to do xit 2 times a week minimum, 30 minutes of walking every day, and yoga on non gym days.
