  • 1. How many weeks are you, and how big is baby?
14w, peach or Star Wars action figure

    2. How are you feeling? Mentally and physically?
Meh. Starting to get anxious b/c I have an appointment Monday and I always get anxious before an appointment. Physically better minus the indigestion.

    3. Any appointment updates?
    Monday!

    4. Rants/Raves/Questions?
    Not at the moment.

    5. GTKY: What year did you graduate HS?

2005. Fun fact: the year after I graduated they consolidated my school into the county school so we were the last class of my high school.

    2. How are you feeling? Mentally and physically? Pretty good. I have an MFM appointment on Tuesday that I'm really looking forward to. That means I'll be put on progesterone, though, which I'm not sure if I'll be happy about.

    3. Any appointment updates?
    MFM and OB next week

    4. Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone else go on progesterone in the 2nd tri? How were the side effects?

  • @kns1988 I was on progesterone until 12 weeks then they took me off. I assume side effects would be the same 1st tri vs 2nd tri. I was on the suppositories and other than being kinda messy, I really only noticed constipation. I did gain 6 pounds the first week I was on them, but have since lost it.
  • @ladystout08 +1 for pre appointment anxiety. I don't think that really ever went away for me with DD but it did get better when I could feel her and didn't have to worry about the doppler not finding her.

@baileym9126 +1 to waiting for the second trimester reprieve. I DO feel better, but I don't feel as good as I would like to. I would really prefer to stop dry heaving and then puking in the mornings.

@kns1988 No advice but hopefully it won't be too bad! What type of progesterone will they put you on?

    1. How many weeks are you, and how big is baby? 17+3

    2. How are you feeling? Mentally and physically? Mentally - I'm ok. My anxiety has been kicking in from time to time but usually about other things (like I'm currently stressed DDs acid reflux is coming back - but really I think she's just grumpy and teething). This is par for the course for me in the summer anyway though since I have so much down time. And in general this has been the best summer for my anxiety now that I'm properly medicated (Thanks PPA).

    3. Any appointment updates?
I had an appointment on Tuesday just for a doppler and bloodwork. Baby girl had a nice strong HB at 151. 2 weeks 6 days until my anatomy scan!

    4. Rants/Raves/Questions? None.

@BitterBetty12, I'm not sure what the different types are, but they said it would be oral. This is to try to prevent me from having another preterm birth, so they want to have me on it from 16 weeks to 36 weeks. DS was born at 35 weeks and was very small, but he's a healthy 15 month old now.

ETA: I also got properly medicated after PPA! It's been wonderful.

  • @ladystout08 Another +1 for pre-appointment anxiety. I'm not sure it will ever go away but hopefully it lessens as we get further along.

@baileym9126 Also waiting for the second tri reprieve. I'm definitely feeling better than I was a few weeks ago but as of last week I was still losing weight and I am still finding it hard to eat. I'm ready to feel human again!

@kns1988 My doctor suggested progesterone to me yesterday because I'm still having a decent amount of cramping. He said it would calm the uterus. Not sure I buy it since the progesterone suppositories I was on through fertility treatments made me cramp, so....Are you being prescribed them due to previous PTL issues?

@BitterBetty12 Glad you had a good appointment yesterday!

    AFM:

17+2 today. TB app told me baby's foot is as big as a gummy bear.

On the whole, I'm feeling better physically, but it's really hit or miss day by day. Mentally, I've taken a few steps back. The cloth diaper thread made me so giddy that I pulled my stash out and went through it, but then had a HUGE panic attack feeling like I was getting too cocky and what makes me think I'm actually bringing home a baby? Now I'm back to not wanting to even think about baby gear until viability. Also, the on/off cramping has me worried about pre-term labour and stillbirth so just not a good anxiety week for me.

I had an OB appointment yesterday. Baby's HB was 150 on doppler and there was TONS of movement going on (but I wasn't feeling any of it). OB had me move up my AS to next week (18+3) to get a look at my cervix since I mentioned I was concerned that I'm still having mild cramping some days. I'm extremely nervous that the scan isn't going to go well.

    I graduated in 2001.

  • 1. How many weeks are you, and how big is baby?
    16 weeks 6 days
    2. How are you feeling? Mentally and physically?

feeling pretty good, I feel like I’ve hit that second tri sweet spot. Other than heartburn which I’m managing with Zantac and some tiredness I’m good.

    3. Any appointment updates?

my next appointment is on Tuesday.

    4. Rants/Raves/Questions?

I’ve been away every weekend for the last 3 and I have to go away again this weekend )part of why I’ve been so inactive around here). It’s my sister’s bridal shower, and I’m annoyed because I’ve had literally no input on it at all. She’s marrying a woman, and her fiancees cousin and aunt insisted on throwing them a dual shower. Since the majority of her fiancées bridal party is guys, most of the people at the shower will be from our side, but none of us were given any input at all. So basically I’m just showing up at the bridal shower for my sister hoping it goes well. I have low expectations since we needed to tell them that they should have food, they were initially planning dessert only for a shower held at 1pm.

  • @kns1988 As much as I hate that I was so stubborn and had to deal with PPA for so long before I admitted it was out of control, I’m so happy that I finally ‘gave in’ to medication. Because the truth is I probably needed it all along. Glad you’re there now too! Though how we had to get there sucks!

@tosh24 When we moved into our new house we put our newborn stash in the closet of the spare room (which will be babies room) and I want so badly to take them out and take stock and see what I need, but I also have the nerves about doing it now. Especially before the anatomy scan. Hang in there! We WILL get there.

@julesf817 I’m so sorry you didn’t get to participate in the preparation of you sister shower. I hope it goes well and you have fun!

  • @julesf817 Sorry about your sister's shower. It sounds like they could have used your input. Shower food is always my favorite part, so I hope they came up with some good ideas to go with the dessert.

    17+1

Feeling okay. Nausea/congestion still lingering. Heartburn is brutal. Headaches well-controlled now that I'm allowing myself to have one cup of coffee in the morning. Mentally, I'm still struggling to accept that everything is okay. Feeling the baby move a bit more over the last week has helped some, but I need some reassurance at my appointment this Friday.

Friday 8/3 - next appointment for doppler.

I do have a question. Anyone have any experience with hernias during pregnancy? I ended up with one towards the end of my pregnancy with DS - located just above my navel. It's only bothered me a little bit over the last 4 years, usually when I made the mistake of doing heavy lifting. But ever since I've gotten pregnant this time, it's been REALLY bothering me. I don't even have to do any lifting, and it will just randomly start hurting. I had it checked by a surgeon a few weeks before trying to conceive and opted not to have it repaired as he said it wasn't likely to cause me any problems other than just being uncomfortable. But now, I'm feeling like I should have had it fixed. I imagine it's only going to get worse as my organs keep getting pushed upward. I'm going to speak with my OB about it on Friday, but just wondering if anyone else has dealt with this before.

    Class of 2007!!
  • @katethemom I believe there is someone from the Jan 8-14 check-in who was talking about having a belly button hernia. Sorry you're dealing with that - it sounds uncomfortable.

  • 1. How many weeks are you, and how big is baby?
14 weeks, hooray! As big as a small filet mignon according to my tracker -- or a peach. Going with that.

    2. How are you feeling? Mentally and physically?
Physically, ok-ish. Nausea is about the same, but manageable. Headaches, same. Backaches but hopefully those are better soon with chiropractic care that I started yesterday. Mentally, getting better. Went to Dr for checkup today and all was well!

    3. Any appointment updates?
Had OB today, just doppler and checkup stuff, and heard baby's heartbeat ticking away!

    4. Rants/Raves/Questions? Umm was I supposed to keep taking the progesterone? I guess I should have asked my Dr and not you guys ;) They put me on (oral) because it was low, and I have refills.... but just went today and said I wasn't taking it and they didn't say anything...

  • 1. How many weeks are you, and how big is baby?
15 weeks my app said baby is the size of yellow canary this week!

    2. How are you feeling? Mentally and physically?
I have been feeling so much better about things since our ultrasound Saturday! It’s seeming more and more real to me.  Wonder how long that will last?

    3. Any appointment updates?
Had our gender ultrasound Saturday and found out we are having a GIRL! We had a box filled with balloons and we (DH, step daughter, DS, and I) all opened it together.  It was a lot of fun! We are close to figuring out a name I think.  I’ve alesdy gotten three outfits and made a sleeper and a onesie.  Still makes me so nervous but trying to stay positive!

    4. Rants/Raves/Questions?
    None currently!

  • @wkuandrea Most people stop progesterone around 12 weeks unless there are extentuating circumstances to keep you on it!

  • wkuandrea I agree with @BitterBetty12 that most people are only on progesterone for the first tri. I'm starting it in the second trimester on the orders of the maternal fetal medicine doctor because they're trying to prevent preterm birth.

  • @ladystout Hear you on getting nervous before an appointment. Almost like clockwork the day before an appointment my brain starts to think: oh, THIS is the one where you find out horrible thing X, Y, or Z. THAT SAID

I’m so happy all of our appointments have been going well. I’m excited for all of us to bring home some healthy rainbow babies. Fingers crossed the nausea and heartburn are the worst things we’ll deal with the next 5 months.

    1. How many weeks are you, and how big is baby? 17+4, baby is as tall as a Hershey’s bar

    3. Any appointment updates? Next appointment is my anatomy scan on 8/13, not sure if they’ll tell me everything looks OK at the scan or I’ll have to wait until my next midwife appointment for that.

  • @Kabazaba isn’t it so unfair what our minds do to us? I do think overall it’s mostly pre anatomy scan jitters since it’s one of the last big hurdles.

The neural tube test was also on my mind because I had my blood drawn Tuesday and haven’t gotten a call. Which IS a good sign - my office only calls with bad news. But I’m afraid that my OB just hasn’t been around to call yet and I’ll get a call next week! Everytime my phone rings my heart drops.
