This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC, but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility, and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this as an ongoing conversation.
Diagnosis (if you've been):
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
How are things going?:
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received?
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Injectable IUI cycle. I had IUI on Saturday. H’s sample had the best numbers yet, which coincides with when he made several lifestyle changes.
How are things going?: Good. I have hope for this cycle, yet peace for moving forward with IVF (at least for now). MH was for sure feeling the pressure to preform at home the days surrounding IUI. We at least had one decent timing plus IUI.
Any questions?:
GTKY: We received a “Good Catholic Sex” book for our wedding. Neither one of us identify as practicing Catholics. We also received Norwex clothes, which is probably now my most used wedding gift. As far as odd things in people’s houses- my sister's MIL has this really creepy room set up that she calls “The Parlor.” It has all these weird, creepy dolls in high chairs & cribs. It’s odd. She also has the pregnancy test from my BIL’s conception. Weirrrrrd.
@rallykat14 will you be under light anesthesia? I was under so no pain during it. I had maybe very slight cramping right after I woke up. I did bleed for almost a week after.
@jrm_14 yay for your H’s life style changes having a good impact on his numbers! It’s nice to see tangible proof!
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, mild pcos
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): wto
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): had an hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy done st the beginning of this cycle. Still waiting to O so I can wait for AF so we can get the FET cycle going
How are things going?: fine
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received? Hmmm. I’ll have to think about this
@purplg8r not sure...they haven't given me details because they still don't know if the machine is working. At this point I'd the machine isn't fixed I will delay it. If fthere is something else going on I'd like to know it before I waste two embryos.

How are things going?: ugh, vag progesterone is kicking my butt
Any questions?:
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received? Growing up when we'd visit my grandparents' house, they had a stone statue of a terrier that they kept in their living room with a bowl of water next to it. They named him and talked to him and put a collar on him and pretended he was a real dog. Still creeps me out.
@rallykat14 I would be completely enraged about the machine, though I guess it wouldn't help anything. Totally makes sense about delaying FET.
@jrm_14 Would you mind sharing what kind of lifestyle changes YH made to improve his sample? Btw "Good Catholic Sex" wins, hands down, on oddest gift. Plus the parlor. I just shuddered at that. Hope you can feel how creeped out I am from across the internet.
@purplg8r hope O comes soon so you can get started w/this cycle.
@rallykat14 how long does it take them to repair the machine??? If they need help we can sell or rent them a spare one... then again with how much we all spend on IF we could probably buy one between us for a fraction of that!
@jrm_14 I snorted with laughter in the middle of the meeting when I read your post about “good catholic sex” I’m now quite intrigued what it recommends...
And is there a special “14” connection I missed why @jrm_14 and @rallykat14 both have 14 in your UNs?
@purplg8r still waiting for O? Ahhhh come on so you can get on to FET!
@sheepshepherdess I hate being on progesterone. Not only how tired it made me but all the really strong symptoms which made me second guess everything
Diagnosis (if you've been): DOR AMA Autoimmune rubbish
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Stimming for IVF#6
How are things going?: First monitoring this morning - and ladies we have SEVEN follicles!!!! Both me and the OB who does my local monitoring had to go back and count them twice to make sure we weren’t seeing things. This is the most I have ever seen at one time. And they are all within 5mm of each other. However it’s still very early, my estrogen rose from zero to 40 since Thursday. Stims the next two nights, more HGH and keeping going with the Lupron and we see what is there on Wednesday! I am praying to the old gods and the new that this MDL protocol is the ONE for me. In other news I went for an interview on Friday. The first hour went really well and I was asked to stay and discuss more for the afternoon, get to know the business more etc. Then the very senior guy who interviewed me decided at the end of our second meeting to explain how women have to choose between children and career, that no women with children can have a Management position in his organization, and why would women work and pay other women to take care of their children... I held my tongue, travelled home (I was 5.5hours away) thought about it all weekend and today called HR to inform them. I was and still am shocked at what he said (this is very much the highlights) and not only did I withdraw from the process but felt it my duty to speak up and tell what happened. This is 2018. At the same time I am really nervous what repercussions might come in a side way. We will see.
Any questions?: Did anyone else here do MDL? I think most who did already moved on... I know my body is weird and was reacting to stuff the last two weeks, but since starting the Lupron I’ve been getting some even more weird reactions. Random parts of my body suddenly start itching, go hot and red and then half an hour later are back to normal. My clinic seemed to think it’s nothing to do with the MDL and said as long as I fell ok and they go away quickly I can keep going.
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received?
Not it sure I can beat @jrm_14!!! But when I was doing my veterinary work experience we went out to a house where they had 40 parrots who flew free round the house including the kitchen and bedrooms... you can imagine how dirty it was...

@emmasemm That interview would enrage me. I'm extremely impressed that you were able to do the right thing in response, in all aspects. Congrats on the 7 follicles!! And honestly, that parrot house rivals the doll room...
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): last week of BCP, start stims next week
How are things going?: not bad, just ready to get started. In the beginning I felt like we moved to this really quickly and now it feels like I've been waiting forever.
Any questions?: not today
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received? I really can't think of anything.
@emmasemm yay for 7!!! and good for you for calling HR, I cannot believe that someone would actually say that. @sheepshepherdess that progesterone can be rough, remember to be kind to yourself. I know the first cycle I used it I found myself crying for seemingly no reason, my emotions were all over the place. (FWIW, it did get better in later cycles) @purplg8r hoping this cycle does what you want and the timing works out for you. @rallykat14 really hoping they get that machine fix. Glad the semi-med-free cycle has been good. @jrm_14 FX for you. so glad you were able to see a change in his numbers, I hope it encouraged him to keep up the healthy lifestyle/changes. and wow, what a gift.

@emmasemm I only ever had itching at the injection sites with my MDL. Thats great news about the 7 right now though! Feel free to PM me if you have any other MDL related questions!
I know I’ve been in and out. Sorry for not responding much or supporting. Y’all are always on my heart. We have so much going in and so many new cycles and new chances coming up. Loving it! I’m probably gonna head back to work Thursday, so I’ll be more regular. My sister came to visit (tw, baby) and brough my month old nephew. She’s having marital problems, so she came to escape for a bit. It’s been lovely to see him and her, but man is it hard.
Tw- loss In other news, the more I think about this new endo diagnosis, the more pissed I get.
Why wasn’t a lap suggested A LONG time ago? Like. Endo is the number two most common form of female infertility. It’s a common cause of miscarriage. Why wouldn’t they cross that off the list when I had testing for PCOS, an HSG, and karyotyping? I understand that I didn’t have symptoms. But they KNEW I have had so many miscarriages. And most of my embryos came back normal. Wouldn’t that be an indication that our issue probably wasn’t genetic? And then after the first IVF loss, why wasn’t it suggested then? After the immune transfer protocol wasn’t successful? Wasn’t that ANOTHER indication there was something more going on? Maybe I am just irrationally angry, or maybe it’s really as negligent as I think right now? Because if they had CAUGHT the endo before IVF, we would have had an excision beforehand. It would have changed my ER and transfer protocol (apparently all the estrogen feeds the endo, making it worse, so endo girls get a slightly different protocol with lower levels?). It maybe wouldn’t have cost me my baby in March. Or the twins this month. It maybe wouldn’t have cost me my tube either, since we would have excised it before it got so bad, and wouldn’t have caused it to grow so much. So, in my mind, if they had suggested a simple lap in December when I did all my other fucking testing, maybe I wouldn’t be down a tube and three more babies. Maybe I would be 25 weeks along and actually be doing okay.
I dunno. Maybe I’m overreacting. I just. Ugh. Second. Most. Common.
Why the fuck am I paying these people

@sheepshepherdess Was the dog statue of one similar to a real one they had? MH stopped smoking & drinking daily (a couple times a month now for each), decreased junk food, decreased portions, began exercising 3x/week at the gym plus disc golf, and dropped 40lbs. He also stopped drinking energy drinks, sugar loaded coffee, and flavored water daily & replaced all with regular water or the occasional lemon water. The MFI was a serious eye opener for him.
@emmasemm Wow- I thought you lived in Germany, not 1950. Rude doesn’t even begin to describe that man. Lucky #7!!!!!!
@KristoKekerooni Girl, you have EVERY right to be pissed. I understand lap is a surgery & all surgeries should be used w/ caution. I also think if it was used more regularly in IF testing/treatment, a lot more heartache may be prevented. And there is no need to ever apologize about being in & out & not providing as much support.
AFM, I am starting to think I didn’t ovulate within 36hrs of the pregnyl trigger. Or maybe I released the two follicles at different times (is that possible?). All my previously very reliable O signs point to yesterday/today. (Yes, you’re normal until you’re not, especially after surgery). As long as I have O’d by tomorrow, we will have one extra timing in addition to IUI. How long do Washed IUI sperm stick around?
@rallykat14 if you’re under anesthesia it will be smooth sailing. I’ve had two hysteroscopies (under anesthesia) and one endometrial biopsy that I was awake for. That shit hurt. I have to have another one next month and I’m already dreading it. But once it’s over you’re good no more pain. Keep us posted when you get more info. Did you definitely decide on transferring two embryos?
@purplg8r hoping things move along quickly for you! Did they check for endometritis with your endometrial biopsy?
@jrm_14 hoping this IUI is it for you but I’m glad that you have a solid plan in place either way!
@emmasemm hey girl fellow MDLer here. First IVF cycle was antagonist and a bust. Second was MDL + HGH and that was the ticket for us. Don’t recall getting the itchies with it though. But MDL is a shitload of injections daily on top of all the stimming you’ve done these past few cycles. That’s a great report. I hope MDL is what you needed and that it works for you like it did for me! Any questions let me know!
@KristoKekerooni ugh friend I hate that they didn’t check you sooner and that you’re dealing with all this now. I hope returning to work gives you a sense of normalcy again. But you have every right to be mad and feel the way you do. I think it’s so frustrating how hard we have to advocate for ourselves even when you’re supposed to trust your doctor. I absolutely love my doctor but I still feel like there’s things i needed and wouldn’t have had if I didn’t ask. You’re doing a great job friend. You’re super smart and you know your shit. Keep fighting for you, I wish you were able to address this sooner but I’m praying that by addressing it that it helps you move you forward
@Avrilmai yay so close to stimming! How you feeling about everything? What protocol are you doing again?
@emmasemm for real!! I’ve always been a late O’er but today is cd24 and no +opk yet. and I’ve only ever O’d this late once **TW** not counting the few months after ectopic/methotrexate **end TW**. Seven follies!!! Yes!!!! Hopefully they keep growing!!! And I can’t believe that guy said that!! What a pig!
@Avrilmai the stims will fly by (at the time, I thought that part was taking forever too but looking back now it feels like it went by so fast)
@KristoKekerooni I don’t think you’re overreacting at all. I’d be completely pissed too! Have you asked them straight out why they didn’t?
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): waiting for AF
How are things going?: *TW* i went back to work last Monday after my d&c. It was super busy as i expected and I guess I did too much cause I started passing clots and almost left to go to the ER. Once I slowed down things stopped but then more clotting and pain the next night so they made me come in for BW and US. Thankfully everything looked good and beta dropped significantly so hoping it continues to come down quickly so AF comes and we can move forward. Plan will be to do a saline sono and endo biopsy when AF comes. I told them I don’t want to do BCPs since I want my lining to grow in thick after d&c and don’t want the BC to thin it. I have a WTF meeting with my doctor on Wednesday. End *TW*
Any questions?: what should I ask my doctor at my wtf on Wednesday? I was gonna ask what meds I can take that could help and not hurt. I would literally stand on my head every night if he told me it could help. I’m also going to ask about a natural fET vs medicated by my lining tends to be on the thin side so next cycle I’m gonna do an after O BW and US for shits and giggles to see if my lining can get thick enough for a natural if not I’ll stick to mediCated
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received? I’ll have to think about this one!
@jrm_14 I just asked a lot of similar ?s about IUI. So, frozen-and-thawed, or just simply washed semen, tend to be lively for 12 hours, but can stick around 24hrs+. And my RE just recently explained that you can release different follicles at different times within a window of 24hrs, sometimes longer. So when I went in last Fri, she noticed that it looked like I had released one follicle within 24hrs, and still had a second very large follicle still attached, which would release on its own soon (but we triggered it anyway to be sure that it didn't stick around on the ovary/possibly to get some really late swimmers).
Hey all! I just got back to work after a 4 day weekend and this week will likely be pretty busy. I'll try to come back later for tags, in the meantime, I'm reading and love-titting!
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA/DOR; high prolactin
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): IUI+clomid
How are things going?: I guess they're going ok. I took the last does of clomid this morning and the only side effect I've noticed is some headaches, ranging from mild to moderate. I took ibuprofen almost immediately after the clomid on days 3 and 4 and it seemed to help stop the headache before it started but I'm still waiting for the ibuprofen to kick in right now. Otherwise, I'm starting OPKs this morning just to be sure my body doesn't decide it's going to O on it's normal schedule
Any questions?: not that I can think of
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received? For my wedding, someone gave me a small shoebox filled with completely random crap (things like a keychain, a toy car, a dish cloth). There was no card or note or anything on it; I only found out who it was from about a year and a half later when they texted me and I was supposed to guess it based on some items in the box.

@Avrilmai I'm excited for you to get started as well! Yep, the progesterone symptoms are not fun.
@KristoKekerooni You have every right to be that pissed, I would be absolutely livid with the Drs I'd been seeing.
@jrm_14 No... no, they have never had a dog. I swear it's still the creepiest object I've seen, I don't know why. And re: the O days, I found that the trigger makes me feel a certain way whether I'm Oing within the next 36hrs or not. Side note: it's been fun for me to go into the RE at different (but supposedly the same) times in my cycle and have her explain why she believes I just ovulated, or why I still have two weeks to go, etc. based on the scan.
@beachbunnyxo123 I am so impressed by how quickly you went back to work. Hope AF comes soon.
@lulu1180 Have you heard that clomid can cause false + OPKs? My RE specifically told me not to use OPKs when doing a clomid and IUI cycle because of all the confusion it can cause. I think if you wait 3-5 days after the last clomid pill the LH is usually out of your system. Also, that gift is pretty weird, I would be a bit disturbed... at least you figured out who it was?
@sheepshepherdess Thanks for the heads up. The instructions from the REs office told me when to start the OPKs but didn't mention it was because of the chance of a false positive. I also wasn't sure about their instructions because they also instruct me to use the OPK 1 hr after FMU, which as we all know isn't really long enough to get the urine concentrated enough to possibly turn an OPK; you should have a 3-4 hour hold at best. Why does this all have to be so damn confusing!!

@lulu1180 Wow, that's ridiculous that they would tell you 1hr after FMU! I had to test in the afternoon to even get a faint line. I find that my RE never gives much detailed info on new meds, procedures, etc. I hate turning to Google, but sometimes it explains things a lot better. And this forum has been the most helpful by far
@Avrilmai I have a question for you; if I remember right, you had some pretty nasty headaches on clomid. Did the headaches go away after you finished the 5 day dosage or did they linger for a few days afterwards?
If anyone else has experienced the same, feel free to chime in!

@lulu1180 good luck tomorrow! Hope all goes smoothly!
@rallykat14 hallelujah for mended machines!!! But I mean after all this they could have scheduled on a day when you don’t have plans... when I had a Hysteroscopy and scratch last December I was straight back at work and carried on the whole day without any issues, but they also didn’t find anything or do anything other than look and scratch. Maybe you can get lucky for once!
@beachbunnyxo123 sorry that you had so much trouble, on top of the loss itself... but hope your WTF went as well as possible today
@jrm_14 Germany is sometimes a bit old fashioned, which can be cute and relaxing in the right circumstances. Or just completely out of date as in this case.
@kristokekerooni it sounds like you’re going through all the emotions after the end diagnosis. I know you do many things already to help your mental health, but I got very angry after my food intolerance diagnoses a few years ago (as I had suffered like hell for years and the answer was so simple in the end) - what helped me most was taking a personal trainer and having some kick boxing sessions (I’m not very good, in fact ridiculously rubbish) but he made me shout out the things I was angry about as I punched and kicked him. And that felt really really good. “F**king useless doctors” *punch* “stupid lab that mixed up my results” *kick*. You get the idea...
@kiwi2628 thanks for popping in! Will let you know if I have more questions! Miss you with your tales of puppies coming into the surgery!
@avrilmai you will also find it amazing how stimming goes soooooo slow and yet so fast too... it’s a weird parallel universe you feel like you’re in most of the time!
AFM Monitoring today and 5 of the follies grew well, two not so much, but let’s see. Biggest is still just under 11mm (all within 4mm) so another monitoring here at home on Friday and then we’ll see what the plan is from there! E2 rising, but no super exciting numbers yet. For the first time in 18 months of continuous monitoring I have fluid in between my lining. I mean we’re not transferring this time, but just shows sometimes these things just happen. So back for another early morning ultrasound and blood work on Friday. The local OB office who does my ultrasounds suggested they should start a “frequent flyer” program for me hehehehe

@jrm_14 It's nice to see his changes made a difference. I really hope this IUI cycle is 100% successful!
@emmasemm I'm glad things are looking good. How many follicles does your doc want to see/when would they do the retrieval? I can't even believe someone would say that during an interview process! What did the HR department say?
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Had my HSG last week, tubes are open. But my ovaries are sitting really high above my uterus. (anyone else have that?) Ovary position, pain during ovulation/randomly throughout cycle, along with family history leads her to think Endometriosis. She doesn't suggest the lap until after we've conceived, IF we can with IUI in the next few cycles.
How are things going?: A lot of people have still suggested trying this month, but I haven't been feeling good and DH has been working a crazy amount of hours. I think this cycle is pretty much a wash and we'll just start IUI next cycle.
Any questions?: Anyone else have their ovaries high above their uterus? My RE thinks its because of scar tissue holding them up from endometriosis.
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received? My grandmother doesn't call it a parlor, but she has an entire bedroom filled with china dolls and teddy bears. Odd combination for a collector I'd think. Some of the dolls are on stands and some are just sitting on various dressers/shelves. Completely creeped me out as a kid.
Thank you friends. Unfortunately the IUI was cancelled; in what I’m hoping was a fluke, the sample was no good. DH has an SA about a year and a half ago with no issues

@thrgirlwhowaited I have ovaries stuck to the top/back of my uterus too. They shift a little bit but are far too close and always right up against my uterus. Which makes monitoring scans to measure them and my follicles “interesting” at times! It’s also why my RE is suggesting a lap as one option before we start to transfer. On my HSG my tubes both were clear but doesn’t mean they don’t have nasty stuff in them poisoning my uterus... and we see lots of issues with my uterus and inflammation increases in my abdominal area in general when my estrogen gets super high, which is indicative of endo. Though I have no major symptoms as such.
@suzycupcake Wednesday was CD8. So I’m also fine if follies aren’t ready until mid of next week.

Weirrrrrd.

*Edited for clarity b/c communication is hard
@jrm_14 I snorted with laughter in the middle of the meeting when I read your post about “good catholic sex” I’m now quite intrigued what it recommends...
And is there a special “14” connection I missed why @jrm_14 and @rallykat14 both have 14 in your UNs?
@purplg8r still waiting for O? Ahhhh come on so you can get on to FET!
@sheepshepherdess I hate being on progesterone. Not only how tired it made me but all the really strong symptoms which made me second guess everything

(FWIW, it did get better in later cycles)
@purplg8r hoping this cycle does what you want and the timing works out for you.

Tw- loss
In other news, the more I think about this new endo diagnosis, the more pissed I get.

ER#2 ~Jan 2019
@sheepshepherdess GL on Friday!
@sheepshepherdess FX for you!!
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): benched
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
waiting for AF
How are things going?:
*TW* i went back to work last Monday after my d&c. End *TW*
Any questions?:
what should I ask my doctor at my wtf on Wednesday? I was gonna ask what meds I can take that could help and not hurt. I would literally stand on my head every night if he told me it could help. I’m also going to ask about a natural fET vs medicated by my lining tends to be on the thin side so next cycle I’m gonna do an after O BW and US for shits and giggles to see if my lining can get thick enough for a natural if not I’ll stick to mediCated

AFM
Monitoring today and 5 of the follies grew well, two not so much, but let’s see.

@emmasemm I'm glad things are looking good. How many follicles does your doc want to see/when would they do the retrieval? I can't even believe someone would say that during an interview process! What did the HR department say?
@lulu1180 Good luck today!
@rallykat14 Good luck this morning with your hysteroscopy and scratch! I hope you make it to your dinner.
Diagnosis (if you've been):
Officially - Unexplained, RE "prognosis" - Endometriosis
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA):
TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?):
Had my HSG last week, tubes are open.
How are things going?:
A lot of people have still suggested trying this month, but I haven't been feeling good and DH has been working a crazy amount of hours. I think this cycle is pretty much a wash and we'll just start IUI next cycle.
Any questions?:
Anyone else have their ovaries high above their uterus? My RE thinks its because of scar tissue holding them up from endometriosis.
GTKY: What is the most odd thing you have seen in someone else’s house OR what is the most odd gift you have received?
My grandmother doesn't call it a parlor, but she has an entire bedroom filled with china dolls and teddy bears. Odd combination for a collector I'd think. Some of the dolls are on stands and some are just sitting on various dressers/shelves. Completely creeped me out as a kid.

@50wife thinking of you...
