While we know our itty bitty babies won't do much besides sleep and nurse, as they grow older we will want other things to keep them occupied.

What are some of your favorite toys, activities, etc that you found your babies loved?
What wasn't worth it?

@jennybean80 I was going to post the sit me up! I recommend the sit me up over a bumbo. My babies have thick thighs and would get stuck in the bumbo.

Both of my kids love the Vtech sit to stand. It comes apart so they can play with it on the floor before they learn to start pushing it around.

We got one of these when DS-8 was born from H's boss. He loved it! Not so much of a newborn toy, but young. Sorry can't remember for sure what age, but a couple months probably. I've loaned it out to people for their babies and it is still in great shape and works still.

Eta: he would lay under there for a loooong time! It automatically shuts off after 20 min. And I would turn it back on for him numerous times!

@sammierose464 I have a sit me up and a jumperoo. DS2 started using the sit me up around 3ish months and didn't start using the jumperoo until 6 months. By the time he was using the jumperoo we no longer needed the sit me up.

DS spent a lot of time in this, and it was super convenient to put him in when I had to shower/go to the bathroom/whatever. I think we got it when he was two months old and he used it for quite a while, maybe until 9 months? We also had one at my parents’ house:

Yep the Sit Me Up seat is a lifesaver! We started using it around 2-2.5 months. Much preferred it over the Bumbo...both of my kids’ legs were too chunky for it lol.

Another huge hit in our house was the Fisher Price Kick & Play Piano Gym. I just bought one at Once Upon A Child for LO since we got rid of ours after DS outgrew it. Both of mine used it past their first birthday, because the piano flips up so they can sit up and play it.

The jittery monkey we got from Target. We had a playmat for tummy time and to keep baby occupied while I cooked/cleaned/whatever. We also had the sit me up for my daughter and we all love it! We’d actually put it on the table while we ate so she’d be able to sit with us.

We also love the LEGO Duplos for older toddlers. My son loves building and creating things, so we have lots of those.

Honestly, a lot of toys are a waste of money. They get forgotten about or broken. I think we have a box of baby toys that we never even unpacked from our move two years ago. We ask our families to give the kids books and clothes for Christmas (which most comply with). Both my kids love books so they get excited when they get new ones.

I have a few suggestions but I'll have to get on my computer to post them because apparently the bump doesnt like my formatting today but I will say I agree with the sit me up. We bought it on a whim for at my moms house and it was fantastic. We even bought a second for outlet home. DS had chunky thighs and would have never fit in the bumbo.

Yes to the kick and play piano! My baby was so miserable for the first two months of his life and we put him on the little kick and play mat with the hanging toys around 2 months and he loved it! It made him so happy. It's really one of the earliest toys you'll want. It's great stimulation for them when they are still too little to really play with toys.

Yahoo I had registered for the kick and play mat as I thought it was a cute concept and it was the second item purchased off my registry!! Sadly I have my first of two showers next week Saturday (one for each side of the family) and only two things have been bought. Lots of last minute shoppers or no one is coming lol

+1 for the piano gym! Z loved it. He also had this Finding Nemo jumper that was a life saver when he was a big enough.

When they were really small and just grasping things, my boys liked the small Sophie with rings on it and Oballs (with the rattle beads).

Once they got a little older, this fisher price house was their favorite toy. They got it at about 10 months, but could have started using it once they were crawling.

And VTech is the devil - the toys will keep making noise long after the kids stop playing with them trying to entice the kids to come back and play again & you have to listen to it or figure out where your kid hid it so you can shut it off. We have gotten rid of all of them except the sit to stand walker somebody posted above and if our kids are gifted a VTech toy, we return it and get something similar in a less annoying brand.
