Happy World Embryologist Day!

Happy World Embryologist Day!

I'm sure a lot of you probably never heard of such a thing but today is World Embryologist Day. This day was chosen because it is the 40th year since IVF first brought to this world a healthy baby, Louise Brown! Her parents had been struggling with infertility for 9 years (blocked fallopian tubes) before Dr Robert Edwards performed the first IVF procedure. He went on to win the Nobel Prize in 2010 for his efforts.

Remember to thank your embryologist for their work this week. Although many of us may not interact with you as closely as the doctors or nurses do, we do our very best to care for your embabies from their first cell division on!
I am Embryoman - your friendly neighborhood embryologist!
