How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 24 weeks, cantaloupe How are you feeling? Symptoms? same old same old - braxton hicks, sciatic pain, tired Appointments this week? I have my 24 week appointment Tuesday along with my glucose screen which I'll likely fail. It will also likely be the last appointment with my awesome OB before we move Rants/Raves/Questions: I am ready to be moved and settled into our new house! I'm over the braxton hicks contractions already, and I haven't even been going overboard. Last night I woke up twice to BH. I'll ask my OB about them again, but she didn't seem too concerned at my last appointment when I mentioned it. Crazy how much earlier they started this pregnancy than my first.
Not pregnancy related - it was my first weekend not working, and DH got so much done! He finished our coffee/train table and also made DS a bed (headboard, frame, footboard). We just need to sand and paint/stain it. GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas! I love Christmas music, Christmas decor, Christmas movies, Christmas food, etc. I especially love seeing Christmas through DS's eyes. It's so magical.

How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks, baby is the size of a chinchilla which makes me happy because I used to have a chinchilla while in college. Pic in spoiler
How are you feeling? Symptoms?
Not as tired as I had been feeling, which is amazing. Carpal tunnel is really starting to kick in, though. I'm now having to wear a brace during the day, as well as at night, on my right wrist.
Appointments this week?
Tomorrow my mfm will finish the anatomy scan and look at baby girls heart.
Rants/Raves/Questions:
While I'm super excited I'll be at viability week next week, I'm starting to feel sad that summer is almost over. Back to work in 2 weeks!
I'm also stressing about finding new childcare for DS that will take DD in January. DS's previous daycare got rid of their camera system, which was the only reason I was going to be okay putting DD there. I'm worried we won't be able to afford the other local options.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas. It has always been about being with family and doing nice things for each other. I grew up very poor, but my parents always made Christmas seem magical. It's also the holiday I told my family I was pregnant with DS, which was amazing. I still watch the video lol
How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks, baby is the size of grapefruit.
How are you feeling? Symptoms? The MS is finally gone!! Just real tired now with lower back pain and lower pelvic pressure (I've been told it's from having placenta previa).
Appointments this week? Nope.
Rants/Raves/Questions: Starting to get the babys room together and that has been real exciting. I'm also just starting to worry about what we are going to do for daycare, I've been looking but of course the ones I like are out of our budget.
GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christmas! I love everything, the music, decor, food, family time. I also love giving gifts and teaching my DSS to give as well, so enjoyable.
How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 24 weeks, cantaloupe How are you feeling? Symptoms? back pain, exhaustion, BH Appointments this week? appt Tuesday. Rants/Raves/Questions: This babe attacks my cervix on the regular and I swear it's bruised. Why can't he find something else to kick? GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Christamas. It was my mom's favorite holiday. She would always make us open our presents one at a time and took pics of everything we got. I miss her the most at Christmas, but oddly, I feel she is the closest then. I can't wait to implement that silly tradition opening presents one at a time when my kids are older.
@jkmartin723 This daycare thing is ridiculous. I've asked DH many times what our budget will allow and he has yet to give me a number. DS's last daycare was about 6k a year, and that was cheap for the area. I think I'm about to get some serious sticker shock for infant care. Also, why can't the daycare centers just list their tuition on their website?! I'm so tired of clicking links titled "pricing" or "tuition" and getting a page that just tells me to call for more information. Does this mean you can negotiate price since they won't put them out for all to see? Do they look at my address to "see" if we can pay more? It seems a little sketchy.
@middleschoolmommy That is exactly how I feel!! My coworker just told me they spent 14k in one year for their daycare, for one kid. Average in this area appears to be around 9k for full time. I knew this would be a challenge but didnt realize how torn I'd feel.
How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 25 weeks, Napa cabbage How are you feeling? Symptoms? I’m sleeping like crap, having headaches almost everyday, lots of hip pain at the end of the day... so, super fantastic Appointments this week? Yes, glucose test on Friday. Blahhhh. Rants/Raves/Questions: Nahh. GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Definitely Thanksgiving. It’s like Christmas without the pressure of giving and receiving gifts.
How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 23 weeks - Size of a ear of corn apparently! How are you feeling? Symptoms? Genrally and thankfully, I've been feeling great until this week. Definitely getting some stomach issues every now and then. I have snot and boogers like nothing every I've ever had before. A little swelling in the ankles but nothing a little rest can't help with. More exhausted easier. Lots of kicks and movement from LO.
Appointments this week? No appts!
Rants/Raves/Questions: i am thankful MIL lives a block and a half away and willing to watch our LO while we have work. She's been looking for a reason to partially retire. These daycare woes sound stressful.
24 weeks, cantaloupe size How are you feeling? Symptoms? ummm...miserable. Headaches, super itchy, insomnia, restless legs. But, baby is finally moving more and I'm super thankful for that. Appointments this week? 24 wks. Gestational Diabetes test. And they have to do another sonogram because they couldn't get certain angles. Little boy is STUBBORN. GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? CHRISTMAS!!! Because I am a crazy Christmas lady who is obsessed and has been watching hallmark Christmas movies in July. Lol
How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 25weeks - a small bag of sugar How are you feeling? Symptoms? my feet have started to swell up but other than that I'm doing good for the most part. Appointments this week? Finally have my contacts and glasses appointment where I need to see if the shape of my eye changed with the pregnancy. The specialist theorized that it's the reason I've been having eye injuries. Centering Pregnancy Class #2 is Tuesday and the focus is supposed to be on nutrition. I'm tempted to skip it since I feel like I got enough nutrition info with the GD tutorial I had to go to. I'll probably go anyways. Rants/Raves/Questions: I agree that I love feeling baby move. I get a little frustrated when I try to have DH feel it but he just says he thinks it's in my head cause he can't feel anything. I'm trying to be patient with him in those moments but it is really hard. GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? i used to love Christmas but it seems like the last few years everyone relied on me to organize secret santa for the adults (my siblings). My oldest brother who has cerebral palsey, is partially paralized on his right size and deaf likes to try and guilt me into buying him $200 shoes every year and I just can't afford it. Long story short, I love Christmas but not all the pressure that is coming with it.
How many weeks are you? How big is baby? 24 Weeks, cantaloupe. Hooray for officially reaching the viability mark! How are you feeling? Symptoms? I'm so-so. Round Ligament Pain is awful this pregnancy though. Not looking forward to several more months of this Appointments this week? No, but I have to go to the lab and get my GD test done. Ugh. Rants/Raves/Questions: I've got nothing this week, lol. GTKY: What is your favorite holiday and why? Fourth of July! It's such a fun holiday where you can just hang out with friends and bbq! It doesn't require you to buy gifts for anyone and there's not a ton of pressure to hang out with extended family. (At least there never was in my family). It's more of a hang out with friends and have fun and enjoy summer kind of thing!
@mockingjay1 - I have to agree that seeing Christmas through my kid's eyes is magical! It's made me fall in love with the holiday again after a few years of grinchdom, haha!
@middleschoolmommy Luckily I'll be able to stay home with this baby for a while but I remember HATING it when searching for daycare for DD1 and no one lists the prices. I think they do it so that you're forced to talk to them and get their sales pitch? I don't know, but it's seriously so annoying and such a waste of time!
I feel so limited in daycare options this time around! DS needs to have a decent pre-k program to start next month, we also would like it to be a daycare that will drop-off/pick-up at the elementary he starts next year. Most importantly, we need one that will have a spot for the baby in January. We are touring 3 different places tomorrow.
Option 1: Will be able to take DS in August and DD in January. They have extra pre-k programs like music, PE, soccer, and bible study (90% of daycares near near me are religiously affiliated). HOWEVER they are really expensive. It will be $380 a week for both in Jan =\
Option 2: DS can start in August. They use the same curriculum as the public school district DS will attend next year. They are very well reviewed and recommended by people in the NextDoor App. It is located literally right outside of our neighborhood and behind DS's future elementary. They are the cheapest option. HOWEVER they don't take infants. They start care at 6 months, meaning we would have to find an in-home daycare for DD until she can get into the daycare. (DS was in a home daycare from 13 months - 23 months and I loved the personalized care)
Option 3: DS can start in August and DD in Feb. They use a Texas School Readiness curriculum. They are the cheapest option for when just DS is going, but then it will be $200 a week extra for DD.
I'm hoping that, after the tours, we will be able to easily make a decision. =\ I really hate thinking too much into this, because then I feel like a bad parent for not being able to provide the absolute best for my kids. Money is the devil.
@middleschoolmommy - I really hope you love at least one of them (if not all three). Money is so hard. You're not a bad parent at all! I'm sure your LOs will do great wherever they go.

@middleschoolmommy - I hope the tours go well!! Not being able to afford the insane daycare prices is normal! It's insane how much they charge to watch babies.
I can't find a day care here that doesn't charge under $2,000/month. I have no idea what we are gonna do. Since we know we can't afford that we made our hours staggered as best we can. I will be working mornings when I go back (0530-1430) and my DH will be working nights (1430-2300). All we need is someone to cover a few hours in between but my in-laws don't want to do it and my mom is still working. My dad doesn't want to watch baby on his own cause he is uncomfortable with infants. Sigh, such a dilemma.
Thank you ladies! We really liked option 2, so did DS. They will even let him start a couple weeks early, which is awesome since I have to go back to work on the 6th. I'm so glad we found place that will truly prepare him for kindergarten. However, this means we have to find an in-home daycare for baby for about 5 months. I've already gotten a few referrals to start checking out home daycares already!
Our budget will be incredibly tight from January - May, but we will work it out. I'm thankful we really only have to worry about those 5 months. Ill keep baby with me during summer and she will start the same daycare as ds when ds starts kindergarten.
@middleschoolmommy I'm so happy to hear you found something that will work for you all and something your son is excited about. Daycare stress is driving me nuts. We too staggered our days/hours so are currently looking for care 1 day a week until baby is 5 months old. We are touring daycares as well and I just csnt believe the prices!
