I seriously side-eye/judge people that sell MLM. No, you will not convince me that *your* company is different. They all sell shitty products and take advantage of people. And if you sell it on FB and send me an invite to your internet sell party, I instantly de-friend you.
Dammit, every single week I think of one to post and forget it as soon as I click the thread.

@kiwi2628 OMG I totally got stuck listening to someone trying to sell me on a MLM a month ago. She was a dog walker and I wanted to pick her brain about starting my own dog walking thing, so we went out for coffee. I get there and she was like I have something better you should get into than dog walking! Gave me a total pitch with brochures and everything right there and then. Without WARNING! I was too polite and listened because she was telling me how everything in her life was going wrong (divorce, lost job, no money, moved etc) She thought this MLM (ACN Canada) was going to make her money and solve all her problems. I felt so bad for her. My first question was how is this NOT a pyramid scheme and she got all defensive and kept going on that it's not. Yet their marketing material had a friggin pyramid on it that clearly shows how people make money by getting more people to join for a $300 membership). Her defense was the products were every day things (gas, water, internet etc) that people need so people will buy them and therefor you make money. She wanted me to go to the Saturday session to listen to a motivational speaker who can explain it in more detail. I said no thank you and I avoided her like the plague for weeks LOL

@chyvie ugh, poor you. You are kinder than I am though. My H was in the military for 4 years and it seems like SOOOO many of the wives get caught up in MLM shit. I do not understand. It was so annoying to try to make friends and then they would just try to sell you shit.
@kiwi2628 UGH that would be the worst. I seriously would lose all my friends if I did that shit. I told her that as my excuse. Just said sorry I don't have a lot of friends/ family to sell this too and I'm not one for networking to sell things! LOL

I have very mixed opinions on MLMs. I have sold Pure Romance and Norwex. My biggest issue is often I can find the exact same product from other stores at a cheaper price. I enjoy using essential oils, but refuse to pay the mark up on MLM oils. Some products I do feel are worth the cost. I absolutely love Usborne Books (and so does SS). However, I hate the sales tactics. I will come to you if I want to buy your product.
ETA: often times the people selling some products are not educated in their safe usage - especially EOs, which turns me off.
Since the year I was pregnant with DD (she was due on the 12th of December but didn't come until the 28th) I have been super organized about Christmas and always try to have everything bought and ready by end of October, largely because I hate crowds and do not want to be shopping with thousands of other people. Because I am due right around Halloween this year and am pretty sure with a newborn I will be useless I have already started my Christmas shopping this year (which isn't unusual, I often start next year's gift buying on Boxing day).
My FFFC is that I actually sat down and started wrapping some of my Christmas gifts today. I feel so deviant! I also made a list of what was inside them so that I can remember what it is when it's time to pull them out.
@chyvie My friends all hate me because November 1st it turns to Christmas in my house - it is by far my favourite holiday and I take full advantage of the season! It also all comes down by the 27th to ensure that DDs birthday is treated super separately from Christmas. I think this is the first year that I've beat Costco on getting Christmas stuff out though!
@kiwi2628 This is definitely a sore subject in our household. DH and I hate these! MIL has literally spent thousands of dollars buying in to a few different types of these companies and has rarely sold anything. I actually blocked her from Facebook because I couldn’t stand seeing her sales things pop up all the time. I can see where some people may be passionate about a particular product, but you don’t have to rub it in my face every time we talk or you’re on fb. Like @sammierose464 said, if I want something from you I will ask you, but chances are I don’t want what you’re selling.
@elothair I wish I had your ambition for Christmas shopping...I’m the one at the mall Christmas Eve with half my shopping to finish! Ugh, I’m hoping amazon will suffice for everyone this year!
I'm very lucky and only have DH and MIL to buy for. Since I'm not close with my family we don't do Christmas. This year I made my sisters promise that they will come for Christmas because I really want them to be in my son's life. They were really excited that I'm having a baby and already have bought him things. So I'm hoping it brings us closer together.

I really try to avoid the MLMs. A girl I went to high school with got huge into younique, does makeup tutorials, pic comparisons, everything. She asked a few times if I'd every be interested in buying and I told her closer to my wedding I might go for some mascara, but that's be it. She got me ser up to buy it just had to say when, never pushed anything else or becoming a seller which was nice. She checks in every couple of months to see if I need more or not but that's it. People like that I dont mind but seeing the Thrive all over fb and insta is annoying, and I just wait for it to die down like the other 3 heathly lifestyle shakes and patches that get big for 3 months then disappear.
I sell for a home party company. Been in it for 12 years. I don't push it. I don't share it on Facebook much, mostly just the all expense vacations I get to take because everyone shares their vacations!! i don't want people to avoid me because of my job. I don't care of you don't buy from me and if you want something come to me. I did this while working full time and I quit my day job like 5-6 years ago. This is my only income. I hate how lots of people go crazy on facebook shoving it in people's faces or badgering people to buy. Makes me stabby. You CAN have a successful business without that! I am sure I will get eye rolls but home parties are not pyramid schemes if they were they would be closed because it is illegal. I do feel some companies are set up as close to a pyramid scheme as possible. Meaning the only way to make money is bringing people into the company as well. Most home party companies, yes you make money off of people working under you, but that is how corporate America works. If you are a manager you are making money because your team/department is doing what they are supposed to be doing. You still get paid (if you don't get fired) if they suck. The higher you are on the trail to ceo the more you make. Similar with home parties. The majority of my income comes from what I do and only what I do, not the people under me. High five to anyone still reading this. Bonus points if you don't dislike me now
I was a consultant for an MLM until recently. I just did it because the products did work for me and I wanted the discount I kind of pushed it for about a month, but it was way out of my comfort zone and I just didn’t want to be posting about it all the time anymore.
Oh yeah...the two that really bother me are beach body and lue la roe. Mostly because they show up on my Facebook. Beach body “coaches” aren’t coaches. They are sales people. They always post about wanting to help people lov themselves but it really feels like thinly veiled fat shaming.
I think there are two kinda of MLM. The pyramid type that makes you sign up and pay a membership to be part of it and then recruit other members to make more money while selling a product or service. Then there is being a sales representative for a well know product or home party. That is very different. Yes it's still MLM but the structure and marketing/ sales technique is far more agressive with the true pyramid types. I don't think the sales representative people are being duped or coned into selling the products. They are choosing to help sell the products because they truly believe in them and perhaps want a discount themselves when purchasing them.

What @SweetSweetTooth said. I am a “distributor” for AdvoCare and only because I can’t live without their spark. I’ll definitely be using some of their BF friendly products to get in shape PP too. I never push it on anyone though and refuse to plaster it on FB! If someone wants it they can come to me.
My confession: I completely forgot deodorant today. I. Smell. Awful. I feel sorry for anyone I come in close proximity to and am thankful I don’t need to take public transportation. Can’t wait to get home and shower!!!
People who post their workouts or “sweaty selfies” on social media make my eyes roll allllll the way into the back of my head. Like, I’m glad you’re enjoying staying/getting fit but lawd Jesus do you really think anyone wants to watch a video of you doing squats? Hard pass.
MLMs don’t bother me as long as you don’t push me. I used to sell Pure Romance and I’ve wanted to get into Mary Kay just to get myself and my mom the discount. I probably wouldn’t advertise at all... I’d just sell to friends and I give them everything discounted so I could stay active.... which I would not tell any of my fellow consultants because it’s frowned upon. Lol
Im technically a Beachbody coach, but I'm a "discount coach". Meaning I'm purely a coach for the discount. I enjoy Shakeology and their performance line. I also very much enjoy their workouts. I will post about my programs and training successes because I have had people tell me it helps inspire them. But I don't push it. If people see me be successful in a program and get interested, they will reach out. I'm super excited for the weight lifting and HIIT program fully launching in October because it will be perfect for after G comes.
@sammierose464 I love Beach Body! T25 and Shakeology is how I got in the best shape of my life before my wedding. A girl in my O16 is a coach too and yes, her sweaty selfies are crazy inspiring to me. I love when people share that stuff because I love working out and being as healthy as I can be.
