Re: July 2018 FET

  • @Momifbysea @megmac2010 I was about to ask that! I saw the one of Ayla and Caleb yesterday!
  • My results for beta were BFN. I follow up with RE on Monday. Not in a good place right now. GL to everyone, I will be still checking on your progress.
  • Loading the player...
  • @becca07024411 My current dose is 3mg 3x/day, vaginally, plus two patches every two days! And I think I like it. You know, apart from the whole shoving pills up the vag part. But I think I really like being on estrogen.

  • @becca07024411 YES! that's where I am right now in between the baseline and lining. I'm glad you all feel my pain on this!

  • Does anyone else get an Ovidrel HCG shot the day of transfer?  Is this normal or something weird my clinic does?  I was just thinking about starting to test next week and realized since I'm not testing that trigger out my results will be questionable if positive.

  • @tinjp78 - Sorry you're not feeling well emotionally and physically. My heart goes out to you.

@lizy181 - Congrats on seeing a second line!

@ChristenMA83 - That Zombicide game sounds super fun! What a great idea for a board game. I will have to check that out.

@megmac2010 - I don't know if it is typical to feel good on estrogen, but some days on it I feel fantastic so I get it.

@Momifbysea - Those people sound awesome! That is so wonderful that you have had them as support when you need it. Iowans are wonderful. I have met some of the most amazing people by doing RAGBRAI which starts tomorrow by the way. Are you familiar with it?

@lemondrop1976 - Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear about your beta result.   :'(   *hugs*

Afm - I had my lining check today and it was good, but they thought I might have ovulated!!!! So I had to get my progesterone tested and wait for 30 minutes for the result. Those 30 minutes were nerve wracking! Fortunately, my progesterone level did not indicate ovulation, but they wanted to move my transfer up a day so I am doing it next Wednesday now (not exactly sure why, but I was happy about it so I didn't question it). I start PIO tonight which I am a little nervous about, but my husband is giving me the shots and he acts like it is no big deal so it makes me feel a LITTLE better.

@megmac2010 nope it was this one by Liv 4 Today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkqMG5cy1TE
  • @Chrysalis7 yipee for moving up a day.  If you do try Zombicide I highly recommend the Black Plague version over the original version.  The original is modern day but they fixed several gameplay issues with the Black Plague version which is more medieval times.

@lemondrop1976 So sorry for the negative result.  ((Hugs))

@megmac2010 I felt good on estrogen last cycle...this time around I'm not feeling it much.

  • @lemondrop1976 I'm so sorry to hear your news. We are here for you.

@Chrysalis7 yes familiar with RAGBRAI but have never done it. It's going right through Ames this year where my office is (although I work remotely). Aren't the people of Iowa the best? And I can say that, it's not bragging, since I'm a native Californian.  ;)

@ChristenMA83 I don't get Ovidrel on transfer day or anything like that, only the estrogen and progesterone and the other regular meds. I wonder why?
  • @lemondrop1976 - I'm so sorry. Sending hugs your way.

@megmac2010 - This cycle, I'm feeling really good on estrogen too. Previously I've actually had trouble sleeping when I was on it, but right now I feel like a million bucks. That will all change when I start PIO next week.

    @kristimh80 - That's great news!

@Momifbysea - That's a great video! I like how she doesn't know what to do. I remember that feeling when I finally saw my first BFP... there was a lot of energy built up toward that moment and I had no idea what to do beyond it.

AFM - I'm still a couple of weeks from transfer, and I'm already starting to fear the dreaded chemical pregnancy. My last two cycles went that way, so it's hard to imagine another alternative. Trying to think positive.

Also, the nerve endings in my belly are just DONE with this process. The Lupron, which usually is no big deal, has started to be really painful to inject. Like, just inserting that tiny little needle feels terrible and it keeps feeling sensitive for an hour afterwards. What on earth is that about? At least I only have 6 more days of that. I'm going to try ice tonight.

  • @lemondrop1976 so so sorry girl. Every BFN is like a total punch to the gut. Be kind to yourself this weekend, we’ll be there when you’re ready to hop back on this shitty horse.

@ChristenMA83 I’ve never heard of ovidrel on transfer day, what’s the point of that??

@Chrysalis7  congrats on a good lining! So will your transfer be next week? So exciting. And PIO is no biggie, the needle itself is intimidating but outside of that it’s fine. My H does it most nights and it’s wayy easier, some nights I have to do it myself if he’s working OT!

@lizy181 ah congrats! I’m way too scared to test lol

@amy8686 I know how you feel, but you really just have to think positive and envision a positive test! That’s the only thing you have control of, so you might as well make that part as pleasant as possible

  • @lemondrop1976 Sending lots of hugs!!! I wish there was something I say / do to make today better for you! I've been there many times...here for you if you need anything <3

@Chrysalis7 Excited for you to get started!! Glad your lining check when well!

@amy8686 So sorry you're feeling this way right now, but it's totally understandable. Is you doctor planning on changing any of your protocol to maybe prevent it happening again? I know for me, my CP was from abnormal embryo, so wouldn't have made well for the future. Praying for you that this is the one!

@leilee101 doc says it let's my body know there's a baby there and to act accordingly, has me take it directly after transfer, but I dont think I've seen it in anyone else's protocol.  ...  but it makes me nervous to test next week for fear of a false positive.

  • @ChristenMA83 I've read people doing mini HCG injections and also HCG washes at transfer time. I asked for the wash, but my doctor doesn't do them. I like the idea as an extra something to help things along. How big of a dose are you doing? If it's low, then I'd imagine it would be out by the time you'd be testing.

  • @ChristenMA83 omg that’s brilliant.. I wish my dr did that! I remember getting nervous when they said I wouldn’t ovulate, thinking well how is my body going to know what’s happening? I hate all the synthetic hormones, the body knows what it’s doing. But yes, trigger is a huge fake out for testing. Last cycle, I tested 9 days after my fresh transfer and I got the slightest ever positive on a FRER, beta came back negative so it was def still the trigger almost 14 days later!! Test with caution, I made myself crazy
  • @kristimh80 - Nope, no change in protocol. My doctor's thought is that we've just gotten unlucky with embryos and we need to get to the right one (mine aren't tested). I want to believe him, but of course in my mind, my body is doing something to reject them. And/or all of my remaining embryos are bad.

  • @leilee101 @kristimh80 it's a 250 dose.  Last time I got a positive on 6dp and it got darker from there.  Guess if I test I'll just look for it to get darker.  Though I think at this point last round I was having symptoms and there's nada this cycle so I'm not getting my hopes up.  I am doing a better job of journaling this time though, so if I go through this again I'll have so.ething to compare to.  I so wish I would have done that last round.

  • @amy8686 That could be it. We sent 6 for testing and only 2 came back normal. Seems like with embryos it really can be a gamble. Hopefully, this is your last month having to worry about all of it for awhile :)

@ChristenMA83 Oh, well that's super low, I was thinking like the amounts they give for trigger shots. So being that low, I'd think it wouldn't last much longer and your tests would be accurate.

  • @Momifbysea - It is a good thing that you are working remotely and not in Ames when RAGBRAI comes through.  Although it is a lot of fun when you are doing it or involved in it, it is pretty annoying when it comes through your town and you are trying to live a normal life.

@kristimh80 - I am so happy for you!

@ChristenMA83 - Thanks for the advice on Zombicide.  Medieval times sounds so cool!

@leilee101 - Yep my transfer will be next Wednesday.  It is strange how it is only moved up a day, but it feels SO much sooner than when it was Thursday!

All right ladies, I need your help with something.  I did my first PIO shot last night and it went great!  Very little pain.  However after the shot and especially this morning, I am REALLY sore around where the shot was
given.  It is a little painful to walk and occasionally VERY painful for a moment.  It has been a few years since I have done these shots, but I don't remember having such residual pain afterwards.  I have read that this can
be caused if not given in the right location.  The nurse drew circles where to give it, but we also watched a video last night to refresh our memory and it was from Sher Fertility and that nurse recommended doing it higher (above the butt crack and then dividing the cheek in half and doing it in the outer area). I guess I wanted to get some thoughts from your experiences.

  • @Chrysalis7 Thank you! Can you switch to doing them in the morning or earlier in the day? Just a thought, I do mine first thing in the morning so will help the muscle move around a lot. I have had pain like that last week though. My husband injected / hit a vein and it left a bruise and hurt a lot for a few days. Now, it's gone and everything is fine again. Then again, I swear every day with PIO is different, I'll have a few great days, then there's always a day where it hurts out of nowhere and even trying to find a spot to inject is daunting b/c all places are sore when touching the skin.

  • @ChristenMA83 yeah that’s a super low dose, I think if you wait long enough you should be all set with false positives. I used to use the Ovia fertility app before I realized we needed medical assistance getting pregnant, but they have a section for “symptoms” that I usually log after transfers/IUI and it has been very helpful to look back past cycles and see what I was feeling.

@Chrysalis7 I’ve found some injections hurt more than others in the morning, have you tried using a heating pad after? I also like to walk around after to work the muscle. You could also just pop a Tylenol if it’s really bothering you the next day
  • @lemondrop1976 Sorry about your beta.  It's a huge letdown no doubt.  Are you thinking about next streps yet?
    @Chrysalis7 Getting close!
@kristimh80 Amazing news!  I think you knew already, but its a relief to have confirmation!
@leilee101 Oh I've been a smurfette many times.  I have a lifetime supply of pantyliners.  My lining is always thin.  It was a 4 or 5 when they measured so that is why we are adding blue pill for a week.  7 is the best I have ever done.  I did get a bfp with my first FET and I was 6.5. *TW I had mmc that cycle so I don't think the lining was the issue.*  If I get to 6.5 this time I will be fine with that.

I want to share something my therapist said to me well over a year ago when I realized I was dealing with IF and it really lifted a weight off of me.  I hope it will be appreciated here. She said "you have decided you want to be a mother and so one way or another you will".   Really just clicked for me and changed my outlook.
  • @suziev3 I love what your therapist said! It's true and I also believe if you confess it and will it into existent, it will eventually happen! For some of us, we just have to work a little more at it, but it's all so worth it in the end. Going thru IVF stuff makes me feel we are even more grateful when things do happen.

  • Ok ladies I had a very important question: what do your doctors recommend re: sex during TWW. Mine says no sex for 4 days after transfer, but I have seen others say none at all. DH has been patiently waiting for the 4 days to be up lol, but I think I might make him wait until beta this Thursday....
  • @leilee101 I was told no sex during the TWW until 1st beta. I'm still wondering if it's safe and now paranoid  :D

  • @kristimh80 - Thanks for the advice!  My clinic wants me to do it at night for some reason.  I wonder why that is.  Ugh, hitting a vein sounds painful!
Maybe I just had a bad first night.

@leilee101 - I did read about icing before and heating after.  I decided against that last night because last time I did these I didn't do any of that and don't remember having any problems.  Now after what I am going
through today I may give it a try.  Regarding sex, my doctor said nothig about it during my pre-op appt yesterday.  They mentioned no lifting restrictions, but sex wasn't even mentioned which seems strange that it
    wouldn't be.
  • Hi guys! We had our FET July 17th ... currently losing my mind during this waiting game to find out! I test July 27th. We transferred 1 embryo, the only one we had left. We planned on two but one didn't make it through the thaw. Thinking of Y'all!
  • My clinic also said to wait 4 days after transfer to have sex. My husband was counting down and I had to tell him I’m not open for business until beta. I want to make sure our little guy is firmly implanted. I’m probably being ridiculous but if something goes wrong, I don’t want to feel like I didn’t do everything I could do to help our little guy along.

I tested again this morning and the line was a little darker so hopefully little dude is making progress.
  • @helloaustin123 Welcome!! Wishing you tua best this month!

@lizy181 that’s great news! When is your beta?

  • @kristimh80 my beta is this Thursday. Congrats on your amazing beta results! Really excited and terrified about mine. My bum is super sore from the PIO shots at this point. My clinic offered to put me on pregesterone suppositories every third day and I declined since initially I was told the PIO shots would be most effective.
  • @lizy181 FX this week brings great news for you!! My bum goes thru phases where it’s sore then not then sore again! I thought about asking for suppositories but my doctor said th same thing and it would just be a mess I figured! How’s many days past tranfer are you now? Sounds like you’ll have a good beta day baes on your tests this week :)
