Met with OB yesterday, 33 week appointment. Everything was good, asked the OB about my weight gain she said "Well you were not over weight at all before pregnancy but you are on the line of overweight with being pregnant. I'm not worried at all, but my colleagues might be more stricter than me. Just keep eating healthy." So now I'm freaking out about gaining anymore weight other than the half a pound till my girl is here... maybe it's my hormones but I took it pretty hard after leaving that office... Have my last 2 week appointment on the 30th along with an ultrasound then it's on to the weekly appointments!
I have a fetal echocardiogram scheduled for tomorrow. I’m quite nervous. I’m 30 weeks currently. At my 28 week OB appt, baby’s heartbeat on the doppler displayed irregularities/skipped beats. So I got a referral for the fetal echo at that time. I had my 30 week OB appt yesterday so got to try the doppler one more time before the big echo appt on Thursday and while we could still hear the skipped beats, they were fewer and farther between so i’m hopeful! My doctor described that the stage I’m in with the pregnancy is common for these PVCs to show up and that it’s developmental and will likely resolve itself. Fingers crossed!!
@lpq0309 That's frustrating. Being borderline really should not be an area for concern! I hope you can find a way not to stress too much. Gaining a few extra pounds is not a big deal in the scheme of things.
Had my 30 week appointment yesterday. All going well. We talked about BH contractions. But she said everything was good cause they arent regular and I know to slow down and drink more water. Also got my Rhogam shot at the hospital last Friday. I checked with the hospital and my insurance and only have to pay whatever the copay is for the shot. (Yay! I was nervous for a hospital copay.) The hospital says a lot of providers send women because they dont keep the shot in stock. Next appointment in two weeks and then a 3rd tri ultrasound. Thry are going to check weight cause the tech thought last time this baby will be bigger than my daughter and with her I had a third degree tear.
@mrsPNW my baby had the skipped beats on the Doppler a while back (time is blurry at this point, maybe 20-22 weeks?) and an ultrasound said it was premature atrial contractions. They also said it was likely just developmental and would resolve, but often comes and goes until the birth with no harm. They haven’t heard it again, though! Every time they’ve checked it’s been all good! Hope it’s the same for you!
@adirat I read that as not scheduling any c-sections that aren't medically necessary? And simply having had a prior c-section doesn't make another one medically necessary. That's actually a pretty good policy to have IMO. If the same hospital routinely performs episiotomies on everyone, though, I start really questioning their policy-making decisions! @mrsman2018 feel free to correct me if I misinterpreted that

As far as I have ever known, pregnancy weight gain doesn't have anything to do with whether you're considered overweight/obese/etc?! If/when it makes a difference in treatment and care, it's based on pre-pregnancy weight. "Average" pregnancy weight gain would easily push a LOT of us into another category. Seems weird to me.

My guess is that it was just a poorly phrased statement because as far as I know that ^^ is correct.

Growth scan went well! No more 4D technology for us though, so I missed seeing his features in crazy detail - guess we’ll have to wait for that now
Baby is still measuring ahead— estimated at 5lb, 5oz which puts him at 34w1d (or the 85th percentile for actual gestational age, 32w6d). Kinda unexpected but doctors seem pleased and say he’s healthy so we’ll KOKO
Thank you all for the well wishes on the fetal echo today!
All in all, it went quite well. The doctor was very, very nice and explained things to my husband and I in terms that we could understand. The structure of baby’s heart is perfect, so that was a relief. Baby is experiencing PACs (glad to have someone here to commiserate with, @MandyMost) and he felt good that it’s something that can resolve before birth or in the month or two following. I have a follow up in a month to see how things look at that point AND baby will need to have an EKG at the hospital after birth, before going home.
The weirdest thing was that about 20 minutes into the appt I got extremely lightheaded and broke out in a sweat, right there on the table. I thought I might throw up. So they had me sit up and blasted the AC fan on me, gave me some time and then changed the position of the table to more upright. Much better after that. I still don’t know what that was all about.
@mrsPNW I'm glad the structure of baby's heart is normal!

I had my 33w appointment today, pretty easy. Had to get my TDAP so not looking forward to the sore arm. Also found out that my OB is due about a month after me.... I should ask her when she's planning to go on maternity leave!
My weight basically hasn't changed in the last 2 weeks, which isn't surprising. I haven't been very hungry, and when I am, I get full so darn fast. With DD1 I was ravenous in 3rd tri so this is different for sure.

@mrsPNW were you laying down kind of? I nearly passed out during an ultrasound Monday, and will need to be sitting up more for my weekly ultrasounds from now on.
adirat Ahaha. There are two hospitals in my city that deliver babies - the one I like does not do elective ones, so if you want one you have to go to the other one. Last time I did have a CS at the hospital I like, but I was already 36 weeks before they found out baby was breech, so I guess that is why I had it there. My hospital still performs CSs every day, just not the elective ones. And yes, my OB is the one who gives routine episiotomies, not the hospital itself per se. I am going to talk to her about my wish to not have one unless absolutely medically necessary. I am worried she will just say it is necessary so she can do it. I have no idea why she does it? Prob cause she just wants it fast? I do not agree with it.
Had my 32 week app yesterday, all looks good except I haven't really gained any weight lately. I'm also a few lbs below what I've should have gained by now, so my doc gave me a referral to do a growth scan. Not too worried since my measurements looked good and he's a beast when it come to movements he was rolling around so much it made my doc chuckle when she was using the Doppler! Super excited to get to see my lil boo one more time before he's born! Hopefully he's growing as he should!
Last time I remember having a really sore arm after getting the Tdap and rhogam shots. Maybe it's because I got them at different appointments this time or maybe I was super good about relaxing my arm this time but my arm feels great!!!!
@mrsman2018 eek! I hope you can avoid an episiotomy!
@DanyTargaryen my rhogam always goes in the butt too. I think they’ve offered the arm if I really wanted but said the butt hurts way less so they recommend it.
@mrsman2018 in my hypnobirthing class we had a whole section on how to delay or refuse interventions that doctors might try to push on you. A couple of things that she mentioned were to ask what the benefits of getting the intervention were as well as what the risk of not getting it are. And asking what would happen if you didn’t get it. There were some more as well as some role playing exercises we did to practice saying no to various things. I’m sure you could find some more detailed resources online.
@mrsman2018 One book I read recommends asking, "Can we wait one hour?" for every intervention you don't want. It changes the focus being you don't want X to the medical professional having to justify why it has to happen RIGHT NOW. Obviously I'm a ftm so I don't know how this would work for an episiotomy (namely when does the doc do it) but it may help? Seriously it is upsetting to me that those are standard when they are now recommended against for most women by the professional guidelines!
@treeofcheem I understand where you're coming from and agree women shouldn't be forced into RCS but I also don't think women should be forced into VBAC which this policy seems to imply. To me it should 100% be the (informed) choice of the woman, not a blanket policy in either direction. We have historically been forced to give up so much agency in childbirth that a blanket policy really bothers me. Every woman should make her own choice.
I know someone who has wanted repeat c-sections because she knows she wants 5+ children and the risk of uterine rupture from VBAC was unacceptable to her. (She is a petite woman married to a very tall man and she grows large babies so that factored into her decision too.) The idea that she cannot make that decision disturbs me as a feminist.
@DanyTargaryen@MandyMost@southernlady07@nackie maybe it hurts less in a larger muscle so that's why they default to the butt at your practices. That would make sense because I actually have strong arms this time around from my "I have a toddler" weight lifting plan so maybe that's why it hurt less this time. Anyone on the medical field know the answer???
My NST went well today. Doc started talking about scheduling a c-section (repeat, and I have GD again) but nothing scheduled yet. I have a growth scan next week (34w) which will give more info.
@adirat I totally understand what you're saying, and I was thinking about some of those things after I posted. It makes me curious how they determine it to be necessary, and if they would do a scheduled CS if say, after discussion with the mother the OB recommends it. It's obviously not something that people just decide to call up the hospital and schedule as their own idea anyways. So I guess what I really like about it is the idea of treating VBAC as the norm, which relatively few places seem to do. The lack of choice for the mother is troubling.

@EErin86 - You got your rhogam in your arm? Did anyone else? Mine has always gone in a butt muscle.
Mine went in my like hip/side this last time. The notch of something. Seemed like a weird place to me but it was the latest recommendation so that's what they did. It was either butt or arm last pregnancy and I couldn't tell you which to save my life.
I have a head down baby for the first time ever!!! Hooray! That's pretty much my whole update. I'll only see my OB 1-2 more times before only seeing my midwife most likely, and chamber are we'll have baby here in 4 weeks, so yay.
