I don't understand the appeal of dystopian shows and movies, like The Handmaid's Tale and Fahrenheit 451. I get it, they're relevant to what's happening IRL, but real life is enough of a dystopia right now, I don't need the additional stress from a TV show or movie.

@meggyme Handmaid’s Tale is so good though! I agree that reality is edging closer and closer to those shows though!
My UO is that men shouldn’t wear tank tops. I’m not sure when this became a thing again, but I think it looks ridiculous.
THIS. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but men in tank tops are the most ridiculous and awful "fashion" thing I can imagine. Even on attractive men they're gross!
Maternity jumpsuits and overalls are the dumbest idea ever. With how often I have to pee, it's ridiculous to have to get completely naked in order to do so. I also don't understand the need for maternity underwear.

I agree with the tank tops, and I will add that I do not care for the new short length of men’s shorts that are in style. A man’s upper thigh is less than attractive, and nobody wants to see that! What happened to men wearing knee-length shorts?
ETA: I sound like my grandmother! “In my day, men wore pants” lol
@maggiemadeit My husband has these basketball shorts that he wears that literally come to within 3 inches of his ankles. It drives me nuts, I think he looks ridiculous in them and I askhim all the time why he doesnt just wear pants then.
@maggiemadeit yes! DH has been all over the shorter shorts trend. He'll ask my opinion on ones he wants to buy and I always tell him they're too short. He says "they're supposed to be that way. They're trendy!" Yeah, well so were hammer pants.

Are we talking like this kind of tank top?! Because I find my husband dead sexy when he wears tanks like this... anything with a smaller part above the shoulders is not attractive, but this style is oh so wonderful to me.
We have two sleeping beauties in heaven. Jack gained his wings on 09/02/2016. Kali gained her wings on 07/28/2015. They will be forever missed.
I just can't do big dramatic shows. I have absolutely no desire to ever watch stuff like Game of Thrones and Handmaid's Tale. I watched Scandal for awhile, and it just got too disturbing. I wasn't planning for this to be my UO, but I guess it will be. I feel like shows like that are just gratuitous. They try to push the envelope and are just doing the crazy violence and torture and sexualized violence for shock value and to get people to talk about it. (They're succeeding!) I don't understand why that type of stuff needs to be on screen.
They never should have stopped selling boneless wings at Burger King. Or pitas at Wendy’s. What is the matter with the people running fast food restaurants? Do they have no regard for pregnant people?
Another, because this shit keeps going viral: stories of employers donating stuff like cars or other employees donating vacation time for maternity leave or money for medical bills or whatever to people are not feel good heartwarming stories. They are a sign of a sick society and meant to distract from the fact that we don’t have public goods like public transportation or paid family leave or daycare or healthcare despite the tremendous wealth made possible only by the underpaid efforts of all the people that struggle to survive without a societal agreement that such things are worthy of societal resources.
Kudos to you ladies that have a good relationship with your MIL. I always thought I’d be in that camp and was very judgmental of women who complained about their in-laws...until I got married
@fillyjonk I am 100%with you, those stories make me heartsick. I am also with all of you who can’t watch dystopian tv shows, my ideal shows are Murder She Wrote and Poirot, I have had the television tastes of someone’s grandma since I was a teen. Give me a cozy murder any day of the week!
@eggsandwich2019 I loled at "cozy murder". Sounds like tucking someone into a blanket before stabbing them.
@fillyjonk I agree, there are so many things that get spun in a way that people think "we are taking care of our own by giving this one person a car or reuniting this one family." that it glosses over the actual source of the problem in the first place.
And +1 to liking my MIL. Sometimes I like her more than my own mom, but maybe that's a FFFC.

+1 on loving my MIL - she is so sweet and has always been welcoming and loving. I'm lucky! But I guess my step-mother balances her out... She's boarding on fairy-tale step-mom material.
I also love my MIL and it is much easier for me to spend a week with her than with my mom.
Also, I just can't be bothered to shave. An electric trimmer? Sure, but I haven't actually shaved in a very long time. It feels like a waste of time and money and my skin doesn't like it. Same for waxing.

I think my uo is that jumpsuits are ridiculous, I do not want to have to strip completely every time I need to pee!
