After an unusually long cycle (50 days), I finally had my CD tests and just got the results. We are TTC#2. I'd love some thoughts on my prospects from the veterans on here.
The doctor who did my ultrasound described my AFC of 7 as "low to normal" and "not unusual for my age (almost 40)." Before we did the tests, the RE was very encouraging in
saying that "whatever numbers you get, your past success is encouraging;
the numbers do not tell us much about a fertile population." So of
course I am hanging on to those words, lol. But I'm also slowly coming
to terms with possibly being "one and done."
If
anyone has comments on the results, please chime in. I don't know much about any of this beyond the ranges listed on various websites.
I'm also wondering
if these results point to any particular protocols v any others.
AFC 7 (plus one cyst that she said could be hiding another follicle)
AMH 0.98 (1 is "low normal," so I'm going with normal, lol!)
Estradiol 37.8 (seems fine?)
LH 5.8
FSH 11.9 (high)
I skipped HSG because I want to avoid
the extra radiation (I already fly a lot long haul for work and am
worried about my annual exposure). I haven't yet spoken to my RE about this, but
will try to do so this week. If anyone was able to skip the HSG, I'd love to hear about
that too.
Thanks so much.
PS I posted a similar message in TTC>35 but that's a quieter board these days...
Re: CD3 test results inside (not amazing) + question (TW: child)
It looks to me like your numbers are all borderline. And an AFC of 7 is low, but not terrible. Did the RE say what the minimum number of follicles is before they’ll cancel a cycle?
Regarding an HSG, I believe insurance requires it as part of the evaluation process, sonyou May want to look into that. Also, for me it actually was very important because I had tubal scarring which was the reason for my fertility. I ended up having my tube (I only had one left because I had an ectopic in November of 2015 that resulted in losing the other one) removed before IVF to reduce the chance of fluid backing up into the uterus and also reduce chances of another ectopic.
Good luck, I hope you have success!
On your numbers it seems to me with the higher FSH and borderline AFC and AMH, plus your age, moving to IVF seems like the right decision although I know that’s hard to come to. Good luck!
