When I was 7 weeks pregnant, I asked our security team about expecting mom's parking. At the time, we didn't have any so they told me to park in the front visitor's lot. Which has been great.
About 2 months ago they added 3 expecting mom's spots on each side of our building (we have a very LONG campus that takes 10+ minutes to walk from one end to the other, so we have lots on either side). Great! Except, in the HR suite alone there are 9 women due this year. We have 5 more to go this year, and one due in Jan. I have been informed that as of today I'm not allowed to park in the visitor lot and must use the main lot. If the expectant mom spots are filled I'm SOL. I'm a little annoyed because this heat is horrible to walk in, especially when I'm carrying a full backpack, my purse, and a lunchbox. And of course, the parking spots are past the executive parking.
My boss recommended I ask my OB for a handicap sign.
@sammierose464 with you on that one. Thankfully we have shuttles, but it takes about 30 min to walk from one end of campus to the other (not including all of our other offsite locations around town), and in some places there's just no parking after 8am so if you have to drive for a meeting it's rough. I feel like I'm not big enough yet to ask for signs, and I really don't want to take a handicapped space away from someone who needs it even if I got a placard.
@chopchop25 you could always decide if you need it today and if you don’t because there are other close enough spots or it’s a cooler day and you don’t have a lot to carry, just not use it, but if you do need it, then you’re not taking a spot from somebody that needs it because you are somebody that needs it.
@purplegoldfish2 fair enough...I just don't feel like I needit, especially when I look around and see those in wheel chairs or with other physical disabilities. I just want a space next to them for my waddling a**.
That's how I feel. I'm going to see how it goes the next few days and if it's really difficult I'll talk to my dr. I told my boss today it's getting really difficult to sit at my desk all day and I might be utilizing some of our flex spaces more often to be comfortable.
Don’t forget that typically August is hotter than July and you’ll keep getting bigger, so even if it’s not bad now, you may need it in the near future. It might be worth bringing up to your dr anyway, even if it’s to say “My boss mentioned this, I don’t need it now, but may in the near future because of the parking situation at work & if I feel like I need it before my next appointment, how do I handle that?”
I agree with @purplegoldfish2 its better to have it and not need it than to be having a really hard hot day and need it and not have that option. My wtf is why the vets office is closed on a Wednesday?! My moms dog (ft. In my hdbd) hasn't been acting herself lately, (since sunday) idk if shes hurt because I can still pet her and hold her and shes okay but when she goes to jump on the couch she hesitates, then looks to be lifted up which is odd, she doesn't want to run out and greet/bark at anyone when they come home from work (she normally goes nuts with her brother when my mom gets home because they're just so excited to see her) but I cant get her to the vets we go to because they're closed today, the next closest is full until tomorrow morning so were taking her there but we dont like that vet at all...
WTF Husband? Either leave enough peanut butter in the jar for a full sandwich or finish the peanut butter! This is the second time I’ve gone to make sandwiches to find there’s barely enough left to cover the end of the knife. Take that little bit, add it to your sandwich and put the jar on the counter instead of back in the refrigerator... it’s actually less work for you to finish the jar and leave it on the counter than it is to carry it back to the refrigerator.
Also, wtf to me. I’ve been super lazy all day and everybody is in pjs and I just realized the kids have tae kwon do tonight... looks like we aren’t going since they’d need to eat dinner first and I haven’t thought about starting it yet... yay for starting new things and then immediately forgetting about them.
We’re a pretty tame board, but at least we still acknowledge that somebody posted something. Ignoring just seems rude on their part. Even if they do a boring “we don’t do that here” response, at least they responded. Also, the last pic on the ramzi post kind of looks like a monkey smiling at us.
@mamabearcj my vet has weird hours too! Very inconvenient... if the dog is older it could be her eyesight, she may not feel comfortable jumping if her depth perception is off and may not greet people if she can’t recognize them. Not a vet just know my parents dog did something similar when he started losing his. Hope she feels better!
Thanks @lolo_0924 the dogs are about 9. They're mixed breeds but both breeds have a life span into the mid teens. right now it could be anything, so fingers crossed we get answers tomorrow
I got a call yesterday from my credit card company asking if tried making a $2100 purchase on walmart.com (no I didn't) after that call I checked my email and prior to that purchase, someone had purchased a generator for $460, also from walmart.com. The WTF part is that it was purchased with my credit card, on my walmart account and was being shipped to me. My bank was able to stop the charges and cancel my card. Now since 5am this morning I've been getting a steady stream of emails, like literally one every 2 minutes, thanking me for subscribing to these random email things. Like there's seriously hundreds of them. I can't wrap my brain around what's happening!!!

Oh wow, definitely change your passwords, that's crazy they got into your Walmart account?! As annoying as it is start s rolling through those emails and unsubscribing or they'll just overload your inbox.. goodluck!! Hopefully they disnt get into any other accounts you have
Yes, I deleted my card off the walmart account and changed the password. I've been marking the emails as spam and gmail seems to be catching on to what's happening and automatically sending them to spam now. But yes I'm worried about my other accounts and have been changing those passwords too

I am going to Chicago this weekend with my two best friends for a little trio trip! I’m very excited for that part... Then I was supposed to come back late Sunday night, have a day to do laundry and repack and then fly out to CA for work on Tuesday morning. Well Tuesday’s meeting was just changed to Monday so now I get to fly home Sunday night, see DH and the pup for a hot second before bed, and fly out again Monday morning for a week.

My mom had another seizure like episode today. She was at my sister's or possibly went there after a meeting cuz something was off. Mom gets really confused and forgets stuff as soon as you tell her, kind of thing. I wasn't home so my sis was the one dealing with it and took mom to get labs done, but since it was noon, no Drs were there to order the extra blood work that they usually do in case of one of these episodes. After 1, they get that done and went home, ate lunch and took a nap. Mom was still sleeping, even tho she usually doesn't nap, so we don't know what she's feeling like by now. These things are frustrating and scary, but there is nothing to be done once she's having one. Dr said if she has several of them in a short period of time, that they'll up her dosage of anti-seizure med, so nothing will be done yet. Mom asked every other minute what day it was and if she was supposed work today, which she was, but obviously there was no way she could work. My sis finally wrote her a note saying she didn't have to go into work today so they could all go to sleep and mom wouldn't freak out and leave or something. It's not like it adds a lot of work, or that we mind helping my mom when something like this happens, it's just that someone needs to be there to help her and answer the same question 100+ times within the hour. So far, if I'm busy, my sis can help and vise versa. I always let my brothers know and they're always super concerned and ask if everything is ok and let them know what they can do to help. I just wish they'd actually help once. They live on opposite sides of the state's, literally. One in Oregon and the other in North Carolina. The one in NC just medically retired from the Marines and has a family of his own so it's not a huge surprise that he's busy. My other one does have a daughter that is split custody with his crazy ex-wife, and his Facebook feed is filled with all sorts of stuff he's doing. He was just on a long bike ride that lasted at least a week. It may have been work related, but I'm still just like come on already. I'm just seriously bummed that they can't be bothered to look after mom at all and her health, mental and physical is definitely deteriorating. And I don't necessarily mean move here or something, just call her! Text! It makes her day and she's so happy when they do, but it's just very seldom. I felt like crap this afternoon so I was no help either. I'm just really weary, I guess.
@coffee-saur I'm sorry you're having to go through this and support your mom (partially) on your own. It must be so tough! hope your mom is doing better now.
I'm sorry you're dealing with that. We went though it with my grandma last fall. She just got medically cleared to drive in May but has decided to not drive at all. My aunt had to fight for her to have a study done to check on everything and they were finally able to find a good dose of meds for her. It's so hard to watch though.
@coffee-saur - I’m so sorry you are dealing with this. I know at some point in the next 10-15 I’m going to likely have to move back to OK to help my parents because my brother won’t step up either.
Thanks ladies. I was/am feeling emotionally done right now, so that definitely doesn't help. She woke up hours later and my sister said she's remembering really well and functioning better. This is the second seizure in a couple months, so I'm not sure what the neurologist will want to do.
So my brother from Portland, asked if it would work or be helpful for mom to come visit him towards the end of the month. I really, really appreciate it and we'll probably do it. I am quite worried because mom has been getting worse with day-to-day, normal stuff. Some days are definitely worse than others, and those are usually triggered by being tired, stress, or feeling overwhelmed. I worry just going and the different environment, may make it more stressful than not for her. She obviously wouldn't be able to handle the airport alone, but we'd just get a pass to take her to the gate and my brother would meet her. He said he would have the whole time off while she was there, so she wouldn't be left alone, which definitely makes me feel better. Sis asked if he could come here, and he said he's planning on doing that this fall, but that's also been in the plans for a few years running now. Maybe it'll open his eyes a little too how she's doing daily without the seizures or strokes.
