I sincerely hope everyone is able to get away (or staycation) for a few days whether it’s your first or sixth baby. Where are you going? What are you doing that’s fun and relaxing? Who’s watching your kids if you already have some?
We ended up renting a beach house in Nantucket for a week next month. No kids right now to consider (except the one in my belly!) so we're looking forward to so much relaxation and fun!
We already went. We went to a spa in Wisconsin Dells for the weekend and started in a room with a had huge, soaking whirlpool tub and a rain showers I had a massage and a pedicure and spent the whole weekend relaxing and eating.
They gave us a plate of fresh-baked chocolate chunk cookies, a fruit plate and a bottle of delicious alcohol-free Brut (I don't even like wine and it was amazing). I got in the tub and ate cookies and drank the brut out if the bottle like the classy lady I am.
We also went on a trip back to the Dells to a water park resort with my MIL, her husband, his daughter and son-in-law, my SIL, nieces and nephew and some family friends. The kids were invited but it seemed too hectic to bring them. Spent most of the time in the lazy river.
MH and I are planning on taking a short camping trip up in Door county at the end of this month. Honestly, I'm a little wary, although I LOVE camping, just because I've been getting so uncomfortable lately. But still I think it will be a fun time.

We might go for a quick trip to the Ozarks (a lake just a couple hours away) for a weekend in September--we like to rent a condo on the lake after Labor Day when everything is quiet, but the weather is still warm enough to enjoy the outdoors.

We are planning on taking another week road trip and going to Niagara falls. Easier to get into Canada with just us two since we already have passports. After a day there we will lazily drive back staying in Pennsylvania I think for a couple days. Neither of us have been to the north east so should be fun!
Not a true babymoon, since we will have DS with us, but we are going to the beach next week. I have a conference in Houston on Monday and Tuesday, so we are going to head to Galveston on Wednesday then race back to DFW for my weekly appointment Friday afternoon! It will be DS's first vacation.
We are also going on a cruise, but not until Christmas. We booked before BFP and I just can't bring myself to cancel >.> We aren't going to get to do anything besides dinner for our 10 year anniversary in August, so... this will be a late anniversary trip. I figure it will be a great way to relax (and drink!) before going back to work after maternity leave!
Disney world Disney world Disney world!!!! Sorry I’m a little excited going in September. Not exactly relaxing but it’s our favorite place to go. Just gonna die a little bit from the heat and humidity, that’s all.
@ginny_203 no clue! We have a camper van and tend to find state parks to stay in depending on how far we want to drive that day. Makes me sad to know we will be out growing it soon as it only has three seat belt seats and one king sized bed, but at least we can upgrade and have a full bath with shower rather than just a toliet next go around.
@middleschoolmommy where is the cruise headed? I have never done a cruise but it sounds relaxing!
Probably not since we are planning Disney in the spring and my husband has reserved all vacation time for when the baby comes. We normally take short weekend trips a couple times through the summer though.
Question for those planning babymoons: DH and I’s anniversary is mid-October. I am due Nov. 7, and my OB suggested not traveling after 35 weeks anywhere too far from home. We want to plan a long weekend somewhere probably a couple hours away to celebrate our anniversary/get away before baby, but want it to actually feel close to our anniversary.
My question: is mid-late September too late to go on a long weekend? Will I be super pregnant and miserable? We’re debating between August and September but I want to actually enjoy myself! FTM here so no clue what would be best.
@ftm_jen It is out of New Orleans and will stop in Cozumel and Progresso Mexico. It's the same itinerary as the very first cruise we took. We had such a great time, we decided to do it again. The only place we have liked better is Roatan, but it was too expensive just to go there and there wasn't a cruise headed there in the time frame we needed. Cruises are amazingly relaxing! We will have DS with us, but they have on-board daycare I also already told DH that when one of has to be the sober responsible one, it will be him. Every time. lol
I wish! We haven’t been on a real vacation since before the kids were born (because $$). I’ve also been so swamped at work/trying to bank PTO for maternity leave this summer, we haven’t even had a long weekend or anything at the IL’s cabin like we would normally do for a mini-vacation (and...$$), so it’s likely a no for us.
@firsttimespartanmom i think that would be ok. i was hiking semi rocky terrain at 36w last time feeling pretty good. my recommendation would be just try to look at places not too far from in-network hospitals should some emergency arise.
I was really hoping we would be able to, but it's not looking good. We go on a vacation with my parents and sister for ten days, which will be nice but definitely no babymoon, and then MH is starting a new job. We have to wait and see what his new schedule and flexibility will be. :-/
@middleschoolmommy I plan on DH being the sober one for all outings for a year once breastfeeding is over! Probably won't actually happen but I will get my time after this baby is here! Haha
@firsttimespartanmom how are you feeling now, like overall? If you’re not feeling great, probably the sooner the better. If you’re overall fine though, I don’t think mid-sept would be a bad time at all! I went to the beach at 32w last time and will be doing a weekend away with toddler at 32w this time. If you’re low risk, I think anything before the last month is all good.
We are doing three nights at the beach at the end of July. Soooooo excited to sit in a beach chair with a book and just read, maybe go float when I get too hot. Probably gonna get a massage, eat some good food, sleep a lot... My parents are keeping DD.
@lifesabeach85 okay so far! Normal stuff like tired, heartburn, etc etc but the small complications I had in first tri have gone away so I think we will be okay. Thanks for the advice!
I am definitely counting this trip as our babymoon even though my parents, Aunt & Uncle are here with us. We are on an Alaska Cruise right now. Our first cruise and we are loving it. There is basically no reception while sailing so it feels like a get away. I'm counting this as our babymoon and my birthday trip.
We don't plan to go anywhere after this but I'm planning to go to the beach once a week from now till baby comes. I imagine it will be much harder after baby comes.
We are doing a five day road trip across Wales with our two girls in August, but nothing super close to my due date unless it's a random day trip. Castles and hiking in Snowdonia are the priorities for Wales
Dh is deployed and has been since dd was born so I never get any time away from dd, like have maybe had 8 hours away from her in over 2 years. My best friend asked me to throw her a baby shower (she's due 6 weeks before me with her first) and it just so happened that the best weekend for her was my birthday weekend. I begged my mom to watch dd for the weekend so I can make it a 2 night trip instead of a day trip (best friend lives 4 hours from my parents house which dd and I have been staying at visiting for the summer). My mom agreed so we head out early morning of my bday on 7/27 and will celebrate my bday with my friend, probably with some mani/pedis and dinner once I get into town, baby shower on saturday, then head home sunday and I am so so excited.
Won't have time for a baby moon before the baby comes, but I'm VERY MUCH HOPING this Bub is a calm guy and easy sleeper so we can plan a last minute trip when he is 4ish months old. We took my niece all around Austria when she was 5 months and she was so easy to wear while we adventured. That said, I'm fully aware that I may change my mind once I'm sleep deprived
