1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 weeks, cauliflower or an ear of corn
2. How are you feeling? Pregnancy wise I’m feeling really good this week
3. Any appointments this week? Nope
4. Rants/raves/questions? Not pregnancy related but I’ve been pretty MIA this week because we’ve had a very stressful week. One of our dogs has extreme anxiety and epilepsy. She spent a few days at my in-laws last week while my family was in town. Long story short, she seems to be getting worse (she’s only 6) the last few months. We couldn’t get in to our vet until today so this week we have been unsure what we were going to do for her, or if there was anything else we can do, or if we were going to have to put her down. We were heartbroken because she is so sweet and just hasn’t been herself. Thankfully our awesome vet took a ton of time with us today to go through a bunch of things we can try. She is going to switch her medicine to see if that helps, and she has a few other suggestions. We are hopeful something will help, and she relieved a lot of stress for us today. I was trying not to stress because I know it’s not good for me or the baby but it’s so hard not to. I’m excited to just be able to sleep tonight!
5. GTKY: Where is the farthest you've ever traveled from home? I went to Trinidad in High School for a church mission trip...I think that’s the furthest I have been.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 27 weeks, lettuce.
2. How are you feeling? Just beyond ready to be done.
3. Any appointments this week? I was supposed to have my glucose test today. See below.
4. Rants/raves/questions? I’m livid. The order my OB wrote for my GTT today was for a fasting draw, drink the glucose crap, then draw an hour later. Well, the tech at the lab said their standard is to just do a draw after drinking (so no fasting draw), so that’s what they were going to do. I questioned it but they said that they never do a fasting draw first. Okay whatever, let’s get this over with. NOPE their supervisor said that was absolutely wrong and they were indeed supposed to do a fasting draw, so instead of calling me back for my draw, they called me back to say they screwed up and I have to come back tomorrow morning. I have no childcare for tomorrow and I have zero desire to drink that crap again because they screwed up. I spent most of today nauseous with a raging headache and the shakes from the stupid glucose and I have to do it all over again tomorrow because they decided that they know more than my doctor does.
5. GTKY: Where is the farthest you've ever traveled from home? I went on a cruise last year to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 25 weeks, cauliflower
2. How are you feeling?
Mentally: Today I felt great and more normal but the past week I’ve been pretty emotional/depressed every time I look at the news. Been trying to avoid social media as much as I can but it’s hard. I know I would still be upset if I werent pregnant but being pregnant makes my feelings much more hard to control!
Physically: achy, swollen and my groin hurts like hell when I roll over in bed
3. Any appointments this week?
Walk-in Glucose test... thinking about going in tomorrow morning. Kind of dreading it.
4. Rants/raves/questions?
Does anyone have experience with IUD’s? You like or no? Considering my birth control options post baby because we’re pretty sure we are going to be one and done but of course we are not 110% committed to that decision.
5. GTKY: Where is the farthest you've ever traveled from home?
Thailand! H and I went for 3 weeks and can.not.wait to travel there again! It’s a beautiful country with beautiful people.
@belo290 I had the Mirena put in around 3 months PP with DS. I had it until right before his first birthday and had them remove it. I hated it. I don’t do well with hormonal birth control but the doctor figured that since it’s directly in the uterus it would be much more tolerable for me. Nope. It was awful. I gained weight, broke out, and I feel like it contributed to my worsening depression. I also had constant cramping and felt like it was trying to work it’s way out. The only upside for me was the lighter then nonexistent periods (I’ve always had heavy periods but since having kids they’re super heavy - soaking through a super plus tampon and an overnight pad in under an hour) but that wasn’t incentive enough for me to keep it. I will say that my doctor said that isn’t the norm for his patients - the majority love their Mirena. My sister also got one put in at her 6 week PP checkup (in January) and loves it.
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 26 weeks, baby boy is the size of a bunch of kale.
2. How are you feeling?
Swollen, especially my feet and hands! Sad I can’t wear my wedding set. Also feel like my walk is becoming slower and waddle like.
3. Any appointments this week?
yes, Monday for my monthly. Imagine they will do the glucose test.
4. Rants/raves/questions?
ladies, my horrible boss got FIRED today, or as we do it in higher ed “will be working from home on special assignment for the next few months, starting tomorrow”. I feel bad for her on a personal level because her job was her identity, but she had so many chances to turn it around yet kept digging her own hole...
5. GTKY: Where is the farthest you've ever traveled from home?
I lived in the UK for 4 years, coming from Oregon. While I was there I took a trip to Thailand, so think that was probably the most miles travelled. A few years ago I went Seattle to Beijing, which was also a super long trip.
@spartan4life I hope your puppers is doing better. Really sorry to hear you all have had a tough week.
@spartan4life i’m Sorry to hear about pup! I hope the new medicine helps! My buddy is almost 8 and has been having more frequent upsets! He has some really sensitive tummy issues and usually is chewing grass about once a month but lately it has been once a week so I am considering changing foods but I hate doing that because he usually gets worse before he starts feeling better! I will probably go grain free as that seems to suit him best!
@tlmill that sounds really frustrating! If you had the order from doc they def should have listened and just done what doc ordered! So aggravating! hope you pass it so you won’t have to worry about the 3 hr one.
@belo290 I had Mirena put in after my last baby! And I did not respond well to it. Hormonal birth control really messes with me. The progesterone in it was making my hands and feet tingly after workouts or any strenuous activity! As soon as I got it taken out I didn’t have any of the bad symptoms. Although I never really spotted with it so that was fine with me but once it was out - I bled so badly I thought I was not gonna make it (I was probably being dramatic) but it was honestly more blood than I have ever seen! I was so pale and sick for at least a week! but my sister has a copper iud in (forget them name) and she likes it . I think that is not hormonal tho so if I go the iud route again I will def not do hormonal and only try non-hormonal!
. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 28 weeks, size of an eggplant (I still don’t understand these food comparisons lol)
2. How are you feeling?
I have been feeling pretty great this week! Much less Braxton Hicks . Only complaint now would be leg cramps but I am eating at least one or two bananas a day to combat that and it seems to help!
3. Any appointments this week?
I had one Wednesday and doctor was encouraging that a vaginal delivery would be a good option for me to try. But he won’t induce (unless I consent to all the risks, which I wouldn’t) so pretty much anything after 40 weeks I would probably do a csection which I am ok with and pray baby comes on his own!
I already prepared DH we will be having lots of sex in the next 12 weeks (he didn’t object lol)
4. Rants/raves/questions?
I am so happy! I have been attempting to potty train my two year old since April and it felt
Like we were not making any progress! But just this week I decided to do just undies and he has had a total of 2 accidents and he is even telling me when he needs to go #2! I feel so excited! He will be 3 next month, so I knew he was ready he is just stubborn and doesn’t want me asking him he has been pretty much doing it on his own this week! This is the first time I won’t have 2 in diapers when baby is born!!!!
5. GTKY: Where is the farthest you've ever traveled from home
I love traveling but honestly never go anywhere lol oxymoron or irony? I have never been out of the USA! The furthest I traveled was from NY to FL! So not very lol but once kids are older husband and I plan on traveling much more! We got married young and have 4 kids now and I am not yet 30 so we will be all ready for some travel in a few years! We were supposed to go to Punta Cana this year in April but with being pregnant we decided to cancel :-( that was pretty disappointing.
@kellitama920 - Except for two trips to Windsor, Canada (which is basically Detroit), I didn’t leave the US until I was 33. I probably wouldn’t even have done it then if it weren’t for the fun of crashing one of my brother’s hunting trips with my Mom. (My ex had no interest in international travel as much as he claimed to enjoy traveling.)
*lurking from Sunday.. @belo290 I had the Mirena after DD (we were also on the fence about being one and done) and it was great for about the first year and a half, then randomly started getting a period again, acne, and this constant miserable bloated feeling so I had it removed. I feel like there are a lot of horror stories out there about an IUD, but there are also a lot of people who love them! It seems like the women who have the most issues with the Mirena tend to have issues with all hormonal birth control.

@belo290 Going to be honest about my experience, but don't let it deter you. Mine was pretty unique and rare.
I had the paragard put in about 3 years ago. I loved it...until it stopped working. I was 100% on team IUD and would sing the praises of it to all my friends, because it was a "set it and forget it" kind of thing, and is 99%+ effective. Only con was that it made my periods incredibly heavy (cramping wasn't bad for me, but my diet directly affects my period symptoms so I can control them somewhat) for a couple days, like "change an ultra tampon every 2 hours + wear a pad for backup" heavy, and then I'd spot for like 5 days after. Also, it took a couple months for it to not feel "weird" or kind of crampy in general. But after that, I'd forget it was there. Not perfect, but I have horrible side effects to hormonal birth control, so it was one of my only options. *TW* TBH I don't think I'm putting it back in after I give birth, because a) getting pregnant with an IUD was terrifying and super stressful the first 2-3 weeks because the miscarriage risk is high, plus b) the risk of ectopic pregnancy scares the shit out of me, and if it fails once, it could fail again. *end TW*
1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby?27 weeks. I read cauliflower for my week, but saw others got the same for 25 weeks lol.
2. How are you feeling?Still having a lot of hip and back pain.
3. Any appointments this week? No
4. Rants/raves/questions?Not anything new. I'm tired and feeling bad the kids don't get out as much as I'd like this summer.
5. GTKY: Where is the farthest you've ever traveled from home? Three different countries in Africa (Senegal, Egypt and Morocco). Someone mentioned Thailand. I've always wanted to go there. 1. How many weeks are you? What size is baby? 26 weeks, baby girl is the size of a slow loris?
2. How are you feeling?
Ok for the most part. Tired as usual and the heartburn is still a nightly thing. I've been swelling a bit lately in my hands but mostly my left leg and ankle.
3. Any appointments this week?
I was suppose to have one yesterday but had to reschedule for next week because my OB was delivering yesterday.
4. Rants/raves/questions? Nothing I can think of now.
