1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18+2 today! size of a sweet potato!
2. How are you feeling? I've been feeling a lot better. I'm still nervous to come off the nausea meds though. Maybe I'll try next week.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I've been feeling more movement and it makes me so happy. It's still super low and no one else can feel it but I can!
ETA: I told my boss about my pregnancy Friday via email! I just got a "congratulations" email back so not great but seriously the best response I could have hoped for with him.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make? ooh this is a hard one! I'd want to make a rule that everyone had to be nice to each other which would result in putting an end to bullying.
Pretty good physically. My boobs were hurting a lot more than normal last night though, for some reason. Starting to have crazy baby dreams.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Rant: I'm just so over work right now. I generally enjoy my job, but I just have little to no interest in it anymore and I feel so burnt out. Not sure if that's a function of hormones, baby anticipation, or just because my job's become a bit more stressful and frustrating over the past year or two. I'm sure it's a combination. We have this one project that has been going on for like 2.5 years and it is just so so so stressful and every time is seems like its going to calm down, more shit hits the fan. I think once that one winds down (hopefully soon but possibly not soon) I will feel better. I just want the baby to be here so I can have a break (not that being home every day with a newborn is a "break").
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
Just don't be an asshole - in both small and big ways. Don't hurt anyone, be kind to people, do your job, follow rules, take responsibility. Things like that. It's not that hard, people.
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18+5 today (US measures 18+3) - the size of a postcard.
2. How are you feeling? Good overall. My swelling hasn't been much yet and was already getting bad at this point with DS, so I'm very happy with that!
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I feel baby very consistently in the last 3-5 days and confirmed yesterday at our A/S that my placenta is posterior this time (last time was anterior) so I'm so excited to feel baby before 25 weeks!
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make? This is a tough one. Be kind is a good one! A small one that would make a difference is driving - if people couldn't drive like assholes & had to actually not hang out in the left lane going slow etc.
How far along are you and how big is baby? 17+5, a pomegranate
How are you feeling? Really great physically - glad to be at this good point in 2nd tri. I’ve just been super sore running (joints) and it’s bumming me out a bit because I finally feel good enough to do everything.
R/R/DD: Going to FL/Disney on Saturday! However had a loss in the family today, so very sad too.
One rule everyone would follow? The same as everyone else- be kind.
@ActiveBaby Sorry for your loss. I hope you can still enjoy your trip to Florida.
1. How far along are you? How big is baby?
17+4, pomegranate
2. How are you feeling?
Not too bad. Sleeping is not great and some weird stomach stuff (reflux I think), but otherwise I feel pretty good.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Rave: I just picked up a free Uppababy bassinet with a rocking stand from someone in my neighborhood. The bassinet is technically part of a (very expensive) stroller system, but I'm just going to use it in the apartment. I'm planning on washing it like crazy, fixing the slightly broken stand, then using it as the primary baby sleep place until we possibly move and have more space for a crib. She even gave me sheets! This is one pro to being in a densely populated, expensive urban area. People give away lots of stuff/sell it cheaply. It's fun being on the hunt for baby stuff.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to
follow, what rule would you make?
Hmm the kindness/don't be an asshole seems like the best bang for your buck. I can't think of anything better.
@hkom Hoping your work project wraps up soon so you can relax a little!
@temmetime Yey for having a posterior placenta! I just found out today that mine in anterior and the NP told me that's why I haven't really felt anything yet. Boo!
@Activebaby So jealous of your trip to Disney - hope you have a blast! Also, I'm sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family.
@kadeephd Congrats on your baby gear score! Free - amazing! I need to start looking into used things for baby...
1. How far along are you? How big is baby?
18 weeks 3 days - baby is as big as an artichoke!
2. How are you feeling?
Decent. I'm still having leg cramps when I sleep - has anyone tried bananas and had it help with leg cramps? A neighbor suggested it. I think I need to buy some just to see if it helps. I'm finding that my fingers/toes get tingly a lot more often than they every used to - especially when I sit in one position for more than 20 min or so (like at work).
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Rave: Had my AS this morning and all the measurements were great! Baby is measuring right on track, which is such a relief. It was quite amazing to see baby's brain, the 4 chambers of the heart, and even the femur! I also had a check-in appt with the NP after the scan and we got to listen to baby bean's HB - right at 150! I wasn't expecting that since we just had the ultrasound, but I was super glad to take a listen!
I have the sex of the baby in an envelope the tech gave me. DH and I are going to open it tonight. He couldn't make the scan today (he works in a meat dept and today is like their Black Friday with everyone buying things for cookouts and such), and we really want to find out together. I will update on the gender thread tomorrow! All-in-all a great appointment, just sad I have an anterior placenta b/c I really wanna feel baby bean!
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
I was going to say, be a decent human being, but I like @hkom's wording better: "Just don't be an asshole"!

@mag1cbeli3ver my old coach used to tell us to eat bananas when we had cramps all the time. Apparently being low in potassium can lead to cramps. Couldn't hurt. So exciting about the A/S. Any thoughts on what sex you think it might be? @kadeephd I love free/inexpensive stuff! @activebaby sorry for your loss @temmetime I cannot standdddd slow people in the fast lane @hkom are you looking to change jobs? Or just looking forward to the break?
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18 + 2, an artichoke
2. How are you feeling? Pretty good. No real complaints.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I am sooooo looking forward to my anatomy scan next week. I can't wait to see the baby!
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make? So, just because everyone said to be nice I'll choose a different one. Maybe everyone needs to work a minimum wage job as a teen/young adult in order to learn to appreciate hard work and working for your money.
How far along are you? How big is baby? 18 Weeks and 1 Day. Baby is the size of a sweet potato, which incidentally sounds delicious. How are you feeling? At this precise moment in time, as big as a house. I just had lunch so my baby belly is fierce! I've had some trouble sleeping the past few nights. I wake up around 4 or 5 and feel like I have to pee, must drink some water, and may be suffocating. It's fun. I usually stay awake for about an hour and then fall back asleep. My hips are sore when I wake up and I have some RLP here and there. Had a bit of acid reflux last week, but cutting yogurt out has helped. R/R/Q/DD? I'm going through an OB dilemma (you can see it on weekly appointments thread.) Rave: my husband is stepping up during this pregnancy. Like legit awesome man. He is being supportive and advocating for me and I could cry thinking about it right now. Granted, he's still a major stinker, but this process has made me love him more.
GTKY: Make a rule. You all have stolen my main two rules: be kind and drive better. So, I'm going with be kind to animals. I'm not perfect at this by any means (love a good steak) but don't hurt other living beings if you can help it. Make slaughter practices as humane as possible. Don't leave your dog in a hot car. Don't be neglectful or abusive towards animals. You know, be a good person and treat other living beings with respect and love.
@Jens_Hoes I'm not really looking to switch, but if a good opportunity came up I wouldn't pass on at least applying. I work for my dad and leaving would be difficult. Not necessarily for emotional reasons (he knows I don't really want to do this forever and/or take over the company and he does not blame me), but more because it's just so flexible. I can work from home pretty much whenever I want (my dad's company is based out of his house, so when I "go to work," I'm just going to my dad's house unless it's a meeting or fieldwork), and have a lot of control over my own schedule as long as everything gets done. The pay is great too. However, I have literally zero benefits. No PTO, no insurance, no retirement - nothing. There are a lot of pros and cons that carry almost equal weight, which makes it really tough. I would never consider leaving now or in the near future because I need that flexibility with a new baby. I will be able to work as little or as much as I want, starting as soon or late as I want postpartum. And, once I do start working again, unless we are doing fieldwork or have a meeting, I can actually take baby "to work" with me if I need to. In the meantime, I just need to bear with the stress and pray the drama settles down soon.
@kristah2 Glad you didn't get a scathing reply back to your pregnancy email! Phew! @hkom What do you do for work again? @temmetime I wonder how traffic would be if people weren't assholes!? @activebaby Yay for Disney! I'm so sorry for your loss, though. @kadeephd Awesome find on your bassinet! @mag1cbeli3ver Potassium and Magnesium help tremendously with leg cramps. Try bananas, pickles, and coconut water! Coconut water is probably your best bet! @Jens_Hoes My anatomy scan is on the 10th, so next week, too! Yay! @binxybaby I'm so glad your husband has been so supportive!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18w2d
2. How are you feeling? Good for the most part!
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? I'm feeling like I want to fast forward to November. I don't really want to, but I'm tired of responsibilities at the moment.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make? Be respectful. Be respectful of peoples time, space, possessions, etc.
1. How far along are you? How big is baby? 18 weeks tomorrow; apparently she's the size of a tall, decaf, non-fat, mocha Frappucino with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle, which incidentally sounds pretty gross. I prefer my coffee hot, black, and highly caffeinated, thanks.
2. How are you feeling? Over all, okay. Sinus infection is finally starting to clear, and my pregnancy-related symptoms are pretty minor so I'm fine on that front. It is starting to get pretty uncomfortable to sleep on either my belly or my back.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary? My house is almost clean-ish for once (yay!), and I get to go home early from work today because of the holiday so I can hopefully get it into shape the rest of the way.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make? Don't be a racist toolbag? Keep your creepy hands and dick pics to yourself? Vote blue no matter who? My initial thoughts on this are largely political, but I'll go with PUT YOUR FREAKING PHONE IN YOUR POCKET OR YOUR BAG AND PAY ATTENTION TO WHERE YOU'RE WALKING. I swear some days I could really use a cattle prod on the walk from the train to my office, lol.
@texas_t I'm an environmental consultant. In a nutshell, we are hired by land developers and/or industrial operations to help them stay in compliance with federal/state/local environmental regulations.
@kristah2 So glad you're feeling better! Hope the transition off of the anti nausea medication goes well next week!
@hkom - I had a bunch more breast pain than usual the other day - maybe some hormonal shift that happens around this time? Seems to be dying down today, thankfully.
@temmetime Glad your swelling hasn't been as bad this time around and yay for posterior placenta! Feeling movement is like the best and most reassuring part of this whole pregnancy thing, so I'm glad you'll be able to feel it earlier this time!
@activebaby I'm sorry you've been having sore joints. I guess it may be related to the relaxin or whatever, but my knees feel veeeerrry unstable at the moment. I've had to stop doing squats, which I hate, but I just felt like I was one off balance squat away from an injury, so I had to pull back. Hope your joint issue improves and you can do all the exercise you want! Also, I'm so sorry for the loss in your family and I hope you're still able to enjoy your trip.
@kadeephd Ooh, how awesome you scored a bassinet! I'm going to be on the hunt shortly for a mini crib and I am super hoping I'll find someone who wants to give one away or sell it cheap since they're only used for a relatively short time!
@mag1cbeli3ver So glad your AS went well! And yes, I think the banana connection is just about potassium (I guess you can have cramps if you're low in potassium) so anything potassium rich might help. Good luck!
@Jens_Hoes Oh, that's a good rule! My friend's mom had a rule that all of her kids had to be a waitress/waiter for one year, so they would learn about work ethic. I worked for a while as a server at a late night diner and I certainly learned a lot (mostly that I hate waiting on drunk people, but work ethic stuff too, haha.)
@binxybaby I commented in the appointment thread, but just want to say again I'm sorry you're dealing with this crap with your OB and that nurse. Hugs and good luck finding a new OB if you decide to switch.
@texas_t I'm totally with you on the fast forward idea. If you find a magical remote take me with you!
1. How far along are you? How big is baby?
18 weeks today! Size of an artichoke, apparently!
2. How are you feeling?
I'm feeling okay today. I'm just kind of up and down. Reflux is worst at morning and night, but midday (as long as I don't eat something that disagrees with me) I've been feeling that nice 2nd trimester near normal feeling. Haven't thrown up since Sunday, so that's nice! Oh, and I've been feeling more tiny movements I think! So that's been fun too.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
I'm so happy to be almost halfway. I just can't wait for the anatomy scan. This has been a tough pregnancy for me, so I am just happy that time seems to be passing relatively quickly.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
Echoing everyone else who focused on kindness. The world would be such a dramatically different and better place if people simply treated others the way they would like to be treated.
18+3. Bell pepper (I can't relate to an artichoke, since I've never had one, so I pick bell pepper)
2. How are you feeling?
Feeling good. It was long weekend last weekend (Canada Day), so I had lots of rest, which was great.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
Dear Diary: I think I am feeling baby consistently now - probably every day! It's pretty exciting yet weird at the same time. Not sure how I feel about eventually being able to see feet and hands sticking out of my abdomen.
Funny thing happened today - saw some friends that I haven't seen for a while and one of the guys goes "OMG you're getting so big!... I mean, at least you're showing." I wasn't offended at all but I know that's a trigger for some people and is considered one of the worst things to say to a pregnant lady! I think he could taste the foot in his mouth.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
Practice empathy. If only people would attempt to at lease consider the other person's point of view before responding, I think the world would be a better place..
Physically fine - minor bloating but not too uncomfortable. Emotionally a little uneasy.
3. Rants/Raves/Questions/Dear Diary?
I had my ultrasound this afternoon and while I was so excited to find out we’re having a girl I have to go to the actual hospital for another ultrasound as soon as they can get me in. Baby was measuring 9th percentile. Now all of babies body parts measured normal - when they add everything up its 9th percentile and they like to see it in the 10th. Baby did weigh 7 ounces which is where it should. So I’m just left feeling confused and slightly uneasy. The Dr thinks everything is fine and told me not to worry (easier said than done). But if everything is fine why the special ultrasound? Blaaaaaaahhhh!! Stay tuned - I am a small person so I’m hoping she’s just petite like her Mommy.
4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
@countrygirl624 I’m sorry for the added stress now. Hopefully you’ll just have another chance to see your baby and hear more reassuring news.
Thank you to everyone for your kind words/thoughts about my loss (great aunt, but I was close to her). It wasn’t a bad day because I’ve beem busy, but now I’m home and it’s a bit harder. Thankfully the kids won’t give me much time to sit still. You guys are awesome though - thank you!
@countrygirl624 while I hope nothing is wrong, and it sounds like everything could be fine, they do have cut offs for stuff and I’m sure even if your doctor thinks it’s fine, I’m sure their policy is better safe than sorry. Hopefully they can get you in soon
@countrygirl624 I was just reading some stuff about it and it seems that the scans can sometimes be wrong about the size. Some people have had their babies measuring in the very low range all throughout pregnancy then ended up with a really big baby at the end. So I'm sure everything will be fine. As long as all of the development is going well, that's what's important.
@countrygirl624 Congratulations on your baby girl!!! How exciting! I'm sorry about the added stress from the additional US you need, but I'm sure baby girl is doing just fine in there and this is more precautionary than anything. At least you'll get to see baby girl again soon! FX for a great scan!
AFM, we're having a boy!! So excited! Not gonna lie - after the AS yesterday I was def thinking girl bc at no time did the texh tell me to look away, and I didn't see anything reswmblore boy parts! But, I guess thatst why I'm not an US tech (although I think it'd be a super cool job)!

@ab_canada Thanks girl! My Dr. repeatedly told me not to google anything! Hahaha! She straight out said she doesn’t think anything is wrong but they just want to confirm. My husband thinks it’s an excuse for more money and to try to push genetic testing on us since we opted out earlier.
@mag1cbeli3ver Yaaaaaaay!!!! Congrats on baby boy!!!! So exciting for you!!! I was stalking the ultrasound thread looking for what it was all night yesterday! Hahahaha!
@countrygirl624 My doctor told me the same thing! NO GOOGLING. Fingers crossed she's just a peanut, especially since you said all the women in the family are tiny.
@mag1cbeli3ver Congrats on your baby boy!! I feel like I am going to crawl out of my skin waiting for my anatomy scan!
I'm right there near you guys @kristah2 and @hkom ! Mine's the 17th! Just looked st my calendar again this morning as if that would somehow make it sooner, haha.
@kristah2, @hkom, @maureenmce (sorry if I missed anyone else) my anatomy scan is on the 17th too! I’m on vacation next week though, so it will fly by for me I’m sure.
AFM, my doctor messaged me saying everything looks healthy about baby. The doctor who reads them suggested an ultrasound in the third trimester to check growth & take a look at the fetal spine. The images he had from the tech were suboptimal, but nothing of concern. Fingers crossed that the tech just didn't quite get the best angles.

That's great that you got a better response than you expected from your boss! I remember you were pretty worried..
1. How far along are you? How big is baby?
I mean, at least you're showing."
I wasn't offended at all but I know that's a trigger for some people and is considered one of the worst things to say to a pregnant lady! I think he could taste the foot in his mouth.

4. GTKY: If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?
Practice empathy. If only people would attempt to at lease consider the other person's point of view before responding, I think the world would be a better place..
1. How far along are you? How big is baby?
18 weeks 3 days
2. How are you feeling?
No lying.
First of all, I am sorry - that sounds like a rough time and I hope you can get some answers soon.
So they are recommending another scan because of one percentage point?
Thank you to everyone for your kind words/thoughts about my loss (great aunt, but I was close to her). It wasn’t a bad day because I’ve beem busy, but now I’m home and it’s a bit harder. Thankfully the kids won’t give me much time to sit still. You guys are awesome though - thank you!
I was just reading some stuff about it and it seems that the scans can sometimes be wrong about the size. Some people have had their babies measuring in the very low range all throughout pregnancy then ended up with a really big baby at the end. So I'm sure everything will be fine. As long as all of the development is going well, that's what's important.

@mag1cbeli3ver Yaaaaaaay!!!! Congrats on baby boy!!!! So exciting for you!!! I was stalking the ultrasound thread looking for what it was all night yesterday! Hahahaha!
@mag1cbeli3ver Congrats on your baby boy!! I feel like I am going to crawl out of my skin waiting for my anatomy scan!
@countrygirl624 congrats on your girl! Hopefully the extra ultrasound goes well & serves as another opportunity to see the little one.
@mag1cbeli3ver congrat@mag1cbeli3ver
