Pregnant with my third and still, lots to learn! How early can I use my Doppler?

I wouldn't even try until 9 weeks - even then, it's tough (especially if you have an anterior placenta which I've had twice). Don't bother buying expensive ultrasound gel - just get cheap aloe.

    I couldn’t get a HB on a Doppler until after 10 weeks.

@ThePax89 - I‘d wait until end of 1st tri before you should expect to hear anything reliably.

@ThePax89 I was able to find it a little after 9 weeks with my first but it took a while and I couldn’t find it every time. I’ve heard the earliest is 9 weeks but some people can’t find it until closer to 12!
  • Options
I found it at 10 weeks last time. And I used to do it like 3 times a day. But It only came in the mail at 10 weeks. So I never tried sooner
  • Options
I couldn’t find it easily until 12. 9 was hit or miss - I set a time for ten minutes and if I couldn’t find it I stopped.

@ThePax89 I was able to find the HB at 9 weeks. Having a thinner abdomen also helps with early readings.

    Here's a potentially stupid question...
Moms who have both boys and girls..did your pregnancies FEEL any different with different sexes?
I have only girls but this pregnancy just feels different to me for some reason.

@Erinm278 - I’ve got one of each and my pregnancies were carbon copies of each other! No differences at all.

Thank being said, I’ve got a friend who has a DD and is now pregnant with a DS and her pregnancies are totally different.  :D

@Erinm278 I have one of each and while I had some differences (carpal tunnel with DS, less acne with DD, etc.), my pregnancies were basically the same. A good friend of mine was convinced her second would be a boy because her pregnancy was so different from her pregnancy with her daughter. Nope, she had another girl.

For me personally, I feel like some of the minor differences were more related to my body knowing what it was doing the second time around, if that makes sense. Number 3 is so far exactly like 1 & 2.

@Erinm278 I currently have one of each. This is my third pregnancy and they’ve all been different. We don’t know what this one is yet, so I may change my answer after we find out. My morning sickness with DD was way worse than it was with DS. I never actually threw up with DS, but I struggled with DD. This pregnancy has been awful so far with morning sickness. I’ve already been throwing up. I’m going to be convinced  that the old wives tale about morning sickness is accurate if this ends up being another girl. Haha

I have one of each - mine were different. DD - Morning sickness and couldn't get enough sex. DS - mild nausea that went away, always exhausted, had basically no sex.

@Erinm278 , Scientifically, it's difficult to compare pregnancies. While studies have shown there is a slight correlation between levels of HCG ( and therefore symptoms)and sex, it's not hugely significant, and there's no real "line," so it's mostly identified after-the-fact.

STM with previous Csections - how did you manage the incision pain? Are there other things I should be doing to be careful? I’m 9mo post cs.

I recovered really quickly from my second c/s - it’s like my body knew what to do. Don’t be a hero - take your pain meds. Ask for help when you need to.

I had had lots of “busy stuff” for my then almost 3 year old to do while I nursed the baby. I also have no shame in saying that we did a lot of screen time during those first few weeks of healing. You need to rest in order to heal - survival, girl!

@PizzaMonster3 DS was 8 months old when I got pregnant with DD. I decided to go the VBAC route because I didn't think DS would understand why I couldn't pick him up like I used to. So I didn't have incision issues, but I did have some stitches. Mostly I just moved slowly and relied on my husband to pick up the slack - same with my c-section.
